i would not think you could get dna from simply hanging the washing
You leave traces of DNA on virtually everything you touch. Whether the material they test is a suitable medium for obtaining the DNA profile from, in this example, presumably wet fabric in either polyester, nylon, cotton or silk, is another matter for which I dont know the answer. It definitely doesnt have to be saliva, blood or semen to get a DNA profile though.

Perhaps the HD incident occurred near to Gay St. Back then there were properties on Bronzewing St and Harpenden St. Bronzewing St was initially named Bullfinch St.

Perhaps the locals had clothing stolen from their clothesline and reported it to the police.

I'm loving this line of reasoning. IF there was some "out of hours" get togethers...wouldn't someone have come forward and spoken up? i.e. "Hey I say that person you are looking for (JR) at our special get together club on the morning she went missing?"
speculated theory dependent on correctness of timestamp on still frame taken from CCTV surveillance in the icebox room.

SUMMARY

canningVale, I also perceive the female appears to be trying to get away.

SO BASICALLY WE SEE EYE TO EYE ON THE TIME STAMP POSSIBILITY
_______________

AND ALTHOUGH ANNALISE OPINION VARIES ON TIMESTAMP, SHE(?) AGREES ON THE DESCRIPTION OF THE MALE ASSISTING THE CLAMBERING FEMALE

AND SPINNAKER ALSO AGREES ON THE CLAMBERING FEMALE

_______________

spooks, i did say It makes me wonder whether there was some sort of SNEAKY After Hours private party/rave/shindig happening on the upper level.
"sneakyAH" being the operative word, In which case, perhaps the stairs were too obvious? and may have been blocked (imo) by figures whose focus (also imo) is toward the direction of the clambering female.
What are the chances of there having been accomplice(s)?

Do you know what hours the Hotel was licensed to operate? ie. what time would the doors have officially closed for public trade?
We have all repeatedly agreed Jane appeared to be in a very sober state when last seen kerbside at 00:04 ... If the icebox frame timestamp was checked and proven to display 02:02:36, with any possibility it could be her there is a window of TWO long hours in which a lot could have occurred either voluntarily or surreptitiously. If the female was attempting to escape, I think the quickest way down would be the best.

GREAT COLOUR EDITS, SPOOKS, BTW I CAN ALMOST SEE THE FACES OF THOSE OTHER FIGURES SITTING ON THE STAIRS - imo

A WOMAN’S silk dressing gown stolen off a washing line 28 years ago is believed to have been the vital clue that helped lead police to finally make an arrest in the Claremont serial killer case.

It can be revealed that in 1988 — eight years before Sarah Spiers was abducted off a Claremont street — the white kimono was dropped by an intruder who broke into the home of an 18-year-old Huntingdale woman and tried to rape her.

Her screams caused him to flee and police believe the stolen kimono was accidentally dropped by the man as he ran out of the home.

Thanks Credulious for posting this article - 2 important points, 1 you have highlighted already:

- kimono was accidentally dropped by the man as he ran out of the home.
- A WOMAN’S silk dressing gown stolen off a washing line 28 years ago

EDIT: Does anyone have the date the 1988 Huntingdale incident occurred?

And I thought you were a "good girl" Guccigal, you wild thing you, out till all hours!! That's what I keep seeing about the girl climbing down, like you I can't see the bottom of the legs, and it looks like she's got a "gnome" on her (or a backpack?). So no kinky parties on the sloped roof hey? Are you SURE it was a sloped roof or were you up there doing some whacky tobaccy!!??

So now I am thinking...IF all this after hours party was a reality..hmmm could have MysteryMan said to JR "See you upstairs later on when the fun begins".
No offense intended towards JR. Yes, just a whacko theory. Yes, just my opinion.

WOMENS CLOTHING RIDDLE
Post Newspaper 07Jan17 - by David Cohen

Police have asked a Floreat man for more information about the 1988 theft of women's clothing from his washing line in Huntingdale.

The request came just days before ******* ******* was charged with the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon.
Floreat resident Jeremy Ardley lived in Huntingdale in 1988. Mr ******* has been charged with indecently assaulting an 18 year old Huntingdale women in 1988.

"The police called us up about that a few days before the recent arrest of ******* *******" Mr Ardley said.

Mr Ardley said police asked him if he recalled anything about the 28 year old crime, in which women's sports apparel had been stolen.
"They asked ' do you recall anything unusual in the area around that date?'" Mr Ardley said.

Maybe Valentines Day ended badly?
(Alleged) Trigger perhaps?

Yes, I know an article states somewhere the belief MACRO had only just found out who he was when the arrest was made but I am unconvinced.

Same.

They could afford to wait and watch. There’s no way on earth they would have swooped in without every T being crossed and their I’s dotted. Not a chance in hell they’d want to mess this up and have anyone walk.

I wonder if Mr Ardelys clothes line had been taken?Sporting apparel may be silk screen printed.

The only after hours thing going on would be staffies because licencing still apply after hours ... in my experience unless someone was a partner they would not be at staffies, you should not take some random person to them in other words

I don't know , but I doubt staffies would be held upstairs ... you really need to find someone who worked there to know the after hour drinks policy ... also 2 hours after closing does not seem likely

To jump from photos of the lady leaving the pub at midnight to her escaping from it at 2 am is a bit extreme in my opinion , but what would I know

Ive stayed for staffies at a number of hotels in the region, Continental Hotel included. Never had a partner working there.

re:Familial DNA

BTK Denis Radar was arrested after a court order allowed DNA profile extraction from his college age daughter's pap smear that had been stored for 5 years!

"Perhaps the most famous familial search case took place in 2005 with the identification and arrest of the "BTK" - Bound Torture & Kill serial killer, Dennis Rader. Rader was responsible for ten horrific murders in Wichita, Kansas from 1974 to 1991. The DNA profile that Rader left on his victims had been run periodically through CODIS without obtaining a hit.
In 2004, law enforcement focused on Rader after he sent an anonymous package to police with a story about his crimes on a computer disk. The disk was traced back to a computer at a church where he volunteered. Before police arrested Radar they wanted to be sure he was the killer. A warrant was issued to obtain genetic material from Rader's daughter, a 5-year old pap smear which was stored at the Kansas State University Hospital where she had been a student. When the daughter's DNA profile was compared with the DNA profile of Rader it was found to be a perfect familial match. Law enforcement was confident that they had found the serial killer and arrested Rader.
In June 2005, Rader entered a guilty plea for the ten killings and two months later he was sentenced to life for each murder."

So we could presume the accused's sister or mother may also have had a pap smear in the last few years!

Fantastic information Spooks! I think I read this way back somewhere in my research on other serial killers, but it just amazes me how this familial DNA can catch these blokes who really think they are so incredibly clever. They have eluded police for so many years that they'll never get caught. Makes you wonder if the CSK might have sent something to Police before JR teasing them that he had done it before with SS and he was about to do it again, and when JR was killed they instantly knew they had a serial killer and announced it to the public straight away? Stranger things have happened. Perhaps these 3 women were his perfect fantasy killings, his attempt to be "famous" as a SK? Just thinking out loud again, as I've mentioned before, not always a good idea.

Lax security then , unless you were from the local kebab shop or something similar , security or bar staff from another venue sometimes ... but just a punter , doubtful , couldn't wait to rid of them
