Why would they fly in an overseas DNA expert - if there was no DNA?
He's an LCN specialist. I'd assume they had little trace evidence and decided the best course of action is go visit the guy who is the best chance of being able to lift a profile. It doesn't necessarily mean it was successful.

He's also 54 which means he was 34 when the Claremont Murders happened. Same age as MAP but don't know if he lived locally back then.

Reading between the lines;

1. Police claim he didn't know the victim. So was opportune attack. Maybe robbery. Maybe argument/fight/stabbing. Maybe racial attack. Or maybe he just wanted to kill someone.
2. I lean strongly towards CSK being sex motivated (the prime goal being rape with the killing to conceal evidence) rather than kill motivated (sexually aroused from killing). There's a bit of a conflict in reasoning but who knows.
3. Someone gave him up. Case was cold then police appealed to public a few days back, put out a $50k reward, and shazam - they have their man. Maybe an ex-gf, maybe friend, or maybe someone who was there. As the years have gone by that relationship is long gone and the $50k is an appealing option.

I wonder when his name will be released?

I think they have DNA (at least a partial). How else would they have been able to rule people out?

They have been working on the Nguyen case since they received new information in January. It won't be csk. Disorganised killer. moo.

What I do find interesting is the number of cold cases being solved in Perth lately. I’m thinking of this recent case and a rape in Scarborough that was recently solved.

This tells me that Police are looking high and low for the CSK and are leaving no stone unturned. Good outcomes.

Its interesting there people a political motive on Ciara whose father had barbecues with Richard Court ex Premier of Western Australia. Ciara had only been back after an overstay of 7 weeks in Ireland with family. Ciaras mother was a teacher at Iona. They hadn't been in the country that long.

Ciaras father was also board of the EPA. Sarahs father had a dispute with the another department over environmental classification of land he owned. Who would have a gripe with Ciaras father, maybe the Liberal party? Many of these pubs were visited by farmers and country people. Sunday session on the coast was riddle with country kids and boarders.
Don Spiers even had a shearing business. Jane coincidently was left on Woolcoot st Wellard which I think mostly is coincidence.

Who would target Ciara based on a gripe with the chief of the EPA and member of the Liberal party?

But there is so many references to DNA in the media. WS terms and conditions state we must have reference to claims we make.

weren't mobiles still not an everyday thing? Telstra technicians where given mobiles and my friends father who had one was one of only a few I knew of at the time. Can't confirm but pretty sure you are correct about 0408 and 0409 being first issue numbers.

Its possible he had a mobile phone, the Ericsson 628 came out about then and they were quite popular, they were fairly compact, all had simple mono screens but were digital. I used to work in a mobile phone shop in 1999 and we got tons of old phones traded in. Ericsson's, original Nokia 3810's, motorola flips (chunky ones) would all have been available around that time.

And yes 0407 or 0408 would have been the first prefixes I believe.... maybe in the digital phones only, before that there were analogue phones, can't remember what prefix they had.

Bartholemeus, I had never stated that there was IRA involvement. You said that, not me.

Simply stated that Jane was left in Cala Lily on the 80th anniversary of Easter rising. That could be anyone. Someone with Labor beliefs. Someone protesting an environmental decision. At least two the girls went Iona. Ciaras mother was a teacher at the school who was named after the Iona isle started by Irish Presentation Sisters.

Were the girls actually stalked by an organised syndicate?

The only in any doubt in the Iona connection, Jane Rimmer went missing 'on the day', That this be a politically motivated crime.

Here is some facts:

26 January 1996, Sarah Spiers, 18 (Australia day weekend)
9 June 1996, Jane Rimmer, 23 (St Columba Feast day)
14 March 1997, Ciara Glennon, 27 (St Patricks day celebrations)

The Three Saints of Iona Isle aka Three Patron Saints of Ireland

Brigit of Kildare Feast day: 1 February

Saint Columba, Feast Day: 9 June

St Patrick, Feast day: 17 March (Saint Patrick's Day)

Given Ciaras fathers connections, it could well be a politically motivated crime by a lone wolf radical. Potential an underground anti Liberal cell

Interesting to note, Sarah Spiers went missing Australia Day, Julie Cutler went missing Winter Solstice of the Bicentennial celebration year 1988 of the white invasion?
Ironically the Parmelia hotel was named after The Parmelia, the ship Captain Stirling arrived, the first settlement ship. Parmelia is a suburb next to Wellard.
Sarah Spiers went missing from 347 Stirling hwy, and Stirling road, named after Captain Stirling.

Julie Cutler was last seen at 12.30am on 20 June 1988 leaving the Parmelia Hilton Hotel, WA
https://www.missingpersons.gov.au/who-missing/wa/cutler-julie

The 17 year old did say she felt the perpetrator was considerably older than her, a decade or more. 1988 is seven years prior. That puts Cutler in about the same age bracket who was born 1965. Someone with printing connections that screen print words.

At 1995 the car with tailgate would have been brand new.

Maybe this should be an ASIO investigation?

Do you mean the Glennons hadn't been in Australia that long? Iirc, they've been here 40 odd years.

How does the 17 yr old KK victim fit in with a political attack?

I think they have DNA (at least a partial). How else would they have been able to rule people out?

They haven't actually publicly ruled anyone out. This is just a myth perpetuated by some posters.

Privately they may well have ruled some of the main POIs out and that can only probably be done through DNA. Who is and who isn't ruled out at this stage is unknown.

Some pages back it was suggested that a man resembling MM may have had a mobile phone in his hand? IIRC early mobile phone numbers started with the numbers 0408 or 0409? Can anyone confirm/deny?

You would be correct

That is a good point but we no nothing about the victim. What is fantastic, is she survived the attack, and police have someone to query. Something has happened police know about that has brought them to conclude the three murders are linked. Police must have evidence that links Sarah with the two other murders.

How have police linked Sarah with the other crimes? How do police know Sarah is linked to the two other crimes?

How does the 17 yr old KK victim fit in with a political attack?

Ill have to check emails to confirm, but not according to Debi Marshall. Yep, you are right. However I dont know what age Ciara arrived. Ciara was 27 when she went missing.

There is the mention of the wedding at the yacht club and Ciara born in Zambia.

We would have to be forgiven for thinking so.

The prime suspect in the Claremont serial killings has reportedly been eliminated from the police probe.

Channel 9 last night reported the Cottesloe public servant’s family had been informed by detectives he was no longer a person of interest.

FORMER SUSPECTS NOW CLEARED BY POLICE
https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/w...f-suspicion-burnt-several-innocent-men/#page1

In the past, officers have been criticised for their handling of the case, particularly a fixation on several men who were eventually cleared of involvement.

Christian said there had been "some glaring errors made when you look at it in retrospect".

"It was the focus on the wrong person, and massive resources went into a particular public servant who lived near Claremont that many police were convinced was the culprit, and has turned out now not to be the culprit, proved by DNA," he said.
