Falling off a cliff or container ship and landing on in's roof would seem to be a good way to expaining damage to the car, as the forces would all apply to the roof, as long as it didn't roll. You can quite easily calculate the forces that would apply as the only acceleration acting on the car once it launched (from either) is gravity. The Fiat has a fixed mass so the Force applied to the roof would be around 11,000N. A decent enough number. Around the same as the rollover at 100km/hr, but possibly causing more damage (no body damage in rollover) as all force would be applied to roof. But the damage and the disposal at Cott would be two separate events. Falling off a container ship though, it would almost certainly sink immediately with a high density and low water displacement (I have calculated and it would be fairly fast to go down)

Another mention of the yellow Toyota in the May 1988 Sheraton attack.

Also victim was dumped corner of Leach Highway and Centenary Drive.

Centenary is probably closer to Shelley Bridge rather than Riverton Bridge. This would be a busier location than near Riverton Bridge but would possibly be on the way home to Huntingdale but not to close?

As I mentioned beforehand I recall Centenary Ave being put through circa 1988. Perhaps at that time it wasn't open to the public - it might have been not quite finished, like a gravel track - secluded though.

Centenary Avenue would have been well established there. It would have been on the way to Curtin University from some of the Southern suburbs. It would also have been a way to access from Leach Highway to Manning Road to head to Perth via the freeway. It was open in the 80s. Leach Highway is a route to Tonkin Highway and the airport. It may not have been busy at all times of night but there were regular cars there.

Thought it would be good to start a timeline re some of the unsolved Perth 1988 attacks/ disappearances - please feel free to edit and add.

28 May 1988 - women abducted from Sheraton, beaten and assaulted dumped corner of leach Highway & Centenary Drive - possibly driving a small yellow Toyota.
Early June 1988 - 15 year old girl assaulted Mirrabooka Avenue - a woman in yellow Toyota took her to Mirrabooka shopping centre
20 June 1988 - JC, last seen leaving Pamelia Hilton 12:30am

They are all very close to each other, time wise.

Depends on wheel alignment. Most cars I have driven don't drive 100% straight when you take hands off the wheel.
Probably says more about the amount of kerbs my mrs hits to muck up the alignment than anything. [emoji14]

Refuse to like that comment. 100% agree, can't like because you sound like my husband ranting about the alignment. thought only my husband was anal about that crap because he works with cars.

Years ago in South Cottesloe, on one of those particularly steeper streets, I remember people driving down the street toward the ocean and getting air borne on the descent after going over a bump in the road!
A car could pick up a great amount of speed travelling down these hillier streets and even launch into the ocean if there was no barriers back then.
In recent years the council put in stop signs and no-through roads to prevent this joy riding stunt!
Pity! Lol
Disclaimer: I wasn't driving! Lol

Sorry forgot to quote from the article in the Daily News re body found Cottesloe Beach.

The article is showing a dividend which means it is prizes for that draw. From memory probably the results would have been on Tuesday or Wednesday. As the article mentioned the body was found today it would have been probably on 12th or 13th of July 1988.

I was thinking if there is no mention of who the deceased was or what the autopsy results are then maybe death notices could be looked at for the period following .. died suddenly, taken from us unexpectedly type notices.

I do still think 800 metres is a long distance. Long enough to be speculation.

no knowledge of gambling here, so thanks for your point RE dividend date being 'results'
...but dang, DRT, i was excited by the thought this deceased male might be incorporated with JC's disappearance - perhaps a clue where there are few to none - and i'm not yet convinced it isn't related, so i will merely extend the window of opportunity to 13th july1988 which is still within 3weeks post-Parmelia function.

208ac445a056076f79c55b5b34f6735f.jpg

police "sudden death squad" attended the discovery of the deceased male found in the vicinity of cottesloe's smaller southern groyne.
what exactly is "sudden death" ...?
it is ANY type of unanticipated death; death occurring unexpectedly ...and includes:
• suicide
• road crash or other transport disaster
• drowning, falling, fire or other tragedy
• undiagnosed advanced terminal illness, such as advanced cancer
• sudden natural causes, such as heart attack, brain hemorrhage, or cot death
• sudden death from a serious illness that was known about, but where death wasn't expected, for example epilepsy
• murder
• war or terrorism ( suddendeath.org )

iMO, the fact HE was found FACE DOWN in the rocks, "NAKED", in the MiDDLE of WiNTER, virtually on the doorstep of what turned out to be a major crime - i would rule out most of the above given causes for "sudden death" ...with the exception of murder (and/or a possible transport disaster?)
...there has been much previous discussion of the physics of mass/velocity required to enable both the FiAT'S launch into the ocean and the damage it sustained.
there has also been mention RE the possibility of the FiAT having been stored/concealed prior to its disposal ... (locally?)
we also have the report of a woman, possibly Julie, calling the paper asking to be left alone (on 27th june, one week after her last recorded sighting) ... she may well have been abducted AND held hostage for a period.

could the deceased male have been a witness to events? a neighbour, a landlord? someone who knew too much?
a person known to Julie? a foiled rescuer?
or perhaps someone known to her abductor? an accomplice turned risk factor?

Another DNA BUNGLE!

$4 million worth of METH found in ceiling cavity!!

http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/wes...e/news-story/5c179f1095f92db29f8e0416fe1dccb0

Cops forgot to change gloves after searching other parts of apartment, and then also put containers of meth they found in ceiling cavity straight on uncovered kitchen bench .
Lawyers easily argued that DNA could be transferred from kitchen bench (table) to containers of METH !!!!

Seriously worrying about state of DNA affairs in WA!!!

Great points above BreVette!

I agree with your thoughts about the phone call and that there is a possibility that JC was held hostage, otherwise there was a woman involved impersonating JC. Also perhaps that the BLF (Brave Little Fiat) could have been stored locally.

I have added to the below timeline:

28 May 1988 - women abducted from Sheraton, beaten and assaulted dumped corner of leach Highway & Centenary Drive - possibly driving a small yellow Toyota.
Early June 1988 - 1
5 year old girl assaulted Mirrabooka Avenue - a woman in yellow Toyota took her to Mirrabooka shopping centre
20 June 1988 -
JC, last seen leaving Pamelia Hilton 12:30am, BLF found near Cottesloe groyne on the 22 June, 1988.
13 July, 1988 -
Deceased male (approx 45) found, face down & naked in the vicinity of Cottesloe's small groyne (800m away from BLF).

The then disused former Cottesloe Council Works Depot at the old Quarry?

The one that the Council finally found a buyer for, as seen in the developer's video of earthworks after the sheds were removed?

Hi Spinnaker,
I'd like to add this to the beginning of the timeline....

September 1985 - Prowling at Southern River near Richard Rushton Comm Centre (ie along river pathway). Riding bicycle, either after school or after sporting sessions. Several incidents reported to police, thus police commence searching for perpetrator described as being tall, with short dark hair who wore glasses.

December 1985 - 17th birthday - perhaps had driving lessons for obtaining a drivers license.

1986 - Started work at Telecom (later to become Telstra)

DRT,

Thanks for the feedback. I mentioned that because I thought it might help. Regards CV
