Or would they have seen this?

Oh gosh, I had completely forgotten about that horrible looking building.... must have blocked it out of my mind, it was so ugly... :)

EDIT: The pavilion was built in 1929 but by 1982 it was considered unsafe and demolished to make way for a new dome shaped pavilion which opened in 1983. This was later replaced in 1996 with the Indiana Tea Rooms.

Hi weaver, meant to edit my post, but am still making rookie mistakes and not sure how to now.

I can be very confident that saying this Fiat car could roll at 100 km/hr, hit the ground around 9 or 10 times and not have any structural damage to the chassi.

I'm happy, please, for someone else to do the math, but I'm fairly confident in saying 8000 -12000N force was exerted on this car during the rollover. This much force did not damage the 1968 Fiat 125's body.

I've calculated the forces on all the scenarios of entering and in being dragged (coming soon), from the ocean so we can compare the forces exerted in the scenarios with the end damage done to JC's car. IMO this was the work of BRE, although not working alone.

I'm aware this may not make sense and may not interest some of the WS's, so thanks for hanging in. Certainly we often assume things to be true and I'm trying to keep an open mind and find definite answers.

Innerchild, do you have any theories you are willing to share on whom BRE may have been working with, and why not acting alone?

Innerchild - my apologies if i may not have been clear enough with my intent on posting the earlier link to the picture of the groyne as I remembered it, however, it was to depict the fact that you had to step down onto the rocks rather than up onto them. It isnt very clear but you can see the edges of the slab of concrete that are not blocked by rocks. You can also see the full length of the peoples legs walking along it and I believe there are 2 people sitting with their legs hanging over the side. It also appears that people have climbed down to sunbake as earlier suggested. I can assure you that it was nothing like it is today though and nowhere near as wide. As I said also, I remember the end dropped off completely making it quite easy to jump off. Driving a car off would have posed very little problem IMO without having to get up and over any rocks at all. It would have been a straight down drop more or less in certain places & with a couple of strategically placed planks of wood, (or back seat perhaps) I think they would have been able to clear the rocks completely.

I dont discount the earlier post suggesting the majority of the damage perhaps being done on the tow into shore though too and if I had to place a bet, my money would be on it having been driven down the boat ramp in front of the old building and straight into the sea, simply for the fact that it has been reported that the lights were on. I doubt someone would have driven it off the groyne with lights blazing for fear of being noticed. I dont believe it had to be launched from the pavement as you suggested from the previous images. I think that carries the risk of it not clearing the sand at all and therefore defeating what appears to have been their purpose. Its also possible that some damage may have been sustained connecting with the pylon if it was driven off the ramp too.
Has anyone actually seen copies of the Daily News or The Weekend West around that time? Its been reported widely there was barely a mention in any of the papers and theres certainly not alot online, but I have a clear vision of the car being shown in the sea slightly forward and to the left of the Pylon and the photo having been taken from the grassed area above the old herringbone path (also previously mentioned and absolutely once there leading straight to the groyne past the old kids pool). I cant imagine why I would remember that if not for having seen it in a paper. I dont recall it being upside down though which seems to be general consensus today & until I read of the damage sustained on this site, I didnt believe it to have been badly damaged when it was found either. In fact I thought that was part of the mystery of how they managed to drive it off the groyne (as police suspected) without sustaining much damage at all. However, I could be totally wrong about the car too, it was a brief moment back in the 80's... the groyne I do remember very clearly though

I have quite a few photos of Cottesloe beach with the groyne taken in the mid 1980's as am a photographer. I can't post them on here as they're slides and unable to scan them at the moment but have just had a look. The groyne boulders were much smaller/lower then and you could easily walk right onto the rocks from the groyne path ie you didn't have to climb up and over them, unlike now. People used to sunbake on the boulders right down to the water and we'd dive off the groyne easily when we were younger.

But IMHO JC's car was driven down the access road from Marine Parade, down the ramp and landed in the ocean. I posted a photo previously showing how close the ocean can reach below the Indiana at times during winter. The Indiana Teahouse was built in 1996 but there has always been a building there and the access road and ramp were there in 1988 as I used it myself that year when my daughter was injured on the beach.
This is what I was describing. The groyne used to be flat until after 2007 when the council decided the public needed protection from aimlessly wandering into the sea.

Spinnaker, I thought the Cottesloe abduction took place in the Cottesloe car park (which is opposite the Cottesloe Hotel) and which is located left of the Indiana looking at the picture - above the tiered limestone retaining walls, and not near the Norfolk Pines as you've circled. Please correct me if I'm wrong....

Interesting proximity the position of the Cottesloe abduction and the end location of JC's car - this is amplified when looking at the pic.

Hi Look for Clues, as you know there is only one car park next to Indiana and this car park directly looks over the beach - also opposite the Cottesloe Hotel.

I had circled the car park where the cars are and thought this was pretty clear as you can actually see the cars - if you look close you will see the circle around the whole car park.

There are 3 circles - the other two circles reference previous posts from Sloofski re boat ramp and road and is referred to in my post - hope this clarifies.

Hi all, I’ve been offline for a couple of days – needed time out from the whole BRE thing.

Anyway, from what I’ve read, when a serial killer chooses a wife, the wife must “not” possess certain qualities. In a nutshell she needs to be oblivious!

The following text is only in my opinion…. It’s evident the first wife clicked-on to something and ended the marriage. However, the second wife didn’t see him as a threat because she left, permitting the daughter to remain in the house with him. The 2nd wife didn’t view him as being harmful. However, perhaps she clicked-on to some cross-dressing. A forum member has suggested cross-dressing beforehand.

Sometimes there are tell-tale signs of cross-dressing like remnants of nail polish, stretched clothing, arriving home unexpectedly and taking the cross-dresser by surprise. He would also need to wear large clothing, perhaps obtaining clothes from op-shops or neighbours' clotheslines, returning them at a later date. Sometimes a cross-dresser plucks up the courage and ventures out and about.

Also, what about *advertiser censored* magazines. Wouldn’t he have a strange collection of those somewhere, or online? Wouldn't the wives have stumbled across those or anything else that tipped them off?

These are only theories and all in my opinion only.

CanningVale There was a report I read - perhaps on WS - when the Police went to tell the 2nd wife of BRE's arrest she stated "what - don't tell me he has killed someone". This leads me to believe she thought he might be capable of doing such.

Hi. First time poster, so not sure if doing this right lol. Hope my comment is allowed. I just wanted to say, I agree with a previous post about the CSK murders possibly being occult related, as I believe I saw the spirit of one of the victims about eight or nine years ago on the way home to Maddington one night

Now that you mentioned it, I'm sure I saw Elvis drive past in his Cadillac the other day.

Eaglette, that's an interesting statement. Many thanks

Perhaps when the 2nd wife left, the step-daughter decided to stay because she got a better deal with BRE. He may have been much less strict and waived any board money. This is only my theory and opinion.

This is a friendly reminder about the Lakers Tavern on Friday 28th April at 11am.

For the locals who are wanting some support.

I'll be the middle-aged woman wearing red. My daughter is going too.

Silly me, didn't write the original date and time in my diary. Hope to see you then.

For those who don't know Perth - the OBH is a bit further North on Marine Parade - maybe 1km (walking distance) from the Cottesloe Hotel.

Cottesloe certainly features with two of the girls going to the OBH prior to disappearing and the Cottesloe abduction taking place near the Cottesloe Hotel.

thanks for the pic PD - the OBH hasn't changed that much really.

I hope in the not too far future the media makes a documentary about the life of BRE. Not like the Birnnies which took over 30 years and recently aired on TV. If BREs documentary takes 30 years I'll be in my nineties, if I live that long. I want the info now!

Hi Spinnaker, I couldn't see the circle around the whole car park as it blended in somewhat (and my eyesight is not that good it seems), thanks very much for pointing it out, I thought it was a little strange as I know you are familiar with Cott ...:)

I think Bret Christian and Paige Taylor should join forces to write a book about the whole thing.
