Like your new avatar, marlywings .... thanks for the reminder to wear a little red to celebrate Daniel's life tomorrow, and thanks for all the updates

:tyou:

I will be wearing red tomorrow to celebrate this young man's life. RIP Daniel.

About 3,000 people are expected to attend the service at Siena Catholic College at Sippy Downs, which is the school Daniel and his brothers attended before the 13-year-old boy's murder
"Daniel did year eight and nine here at Siena," he said.

"He had an older brother at the time, Dean, and Bradley was his twin.

"That says something to a lot of our staff who are very grateful that the Morcombes see Siena as an important part of their lives and have brought Daniel back here to say farewell to him."

The funeral will start at 11:00am (AEST).

EDITORIAL: Wear red for the Morcombe family

The family's remarkable courage and openness during this most devastating of times has done much to make Australians more aware of child safety.

The sorrow of Daniel's departure can never be softened but the Morcombes have done all they can to ensure other families do not have to endure their pain. Today, the Morcombes would like people to wear a splash of red to help spread their message. It's a small gesture for many people but, combined, it can add to a powerful sign of the support for the Morcombes' work. Today, as in other days, our thoughts are with the Morcombe family.

DANIEL James Morcombe was a brave boy who made his parents proud.
Today, as Bruce and Denise Morcombe lay their son to rest, they hope he is proud of them - and they want the world to remember the life he lived.

What a sad day but at least Daniel can finally be laid to rest.

RIP Daniel.

Thank you Denise and Bruce for showing such strength and dignity. My heart aches for them today.

I will be wearing red today for Daniel. I hope the Morcombes are able to think about many of their happy memories today of Daniel and their other two boys today.

And some ((hugs)) for the other WS members who I assume like me feel pretty emotional today. I try and rationalise away how choked up and teary I get but I am not very good at it.

I'm feeling very emotional today also. Very teary. I hope the Morcombes know they have the whole country behind them today, and everyday. Such an amazing family, Daniel's a very lucky boy to have a mum and dad like he does.

RIP young man xxxxx

Nine years ago today, Daniel Morcombe went missing. Today, he can finally rest in peace

IN the arms of his brothers Dean and Bradley, Daniel Morcombe has been carried towards his final resting place.
Thousands wept and hugged as they watched Daniel's final procession to the strains of the emotion-charged Elton John song that shares his name.

Hundreds of students stood shoulder to shoulder with friends, Daniel Morcombe Foundation supporters, SES, police and complete strangers in a special guard of honour.

Tears that had been welling for 90 minutes during the farewell ceremony finally flowed as Daniel was taken away for a private burial service at Woombye Cemetery, just a few hundred metres from his childhood home.

Bruce Morcombe, as he had done so many times before, put his arm around wife Denise to comfort her and help her walk as they followed the procession

Prayers for the family of Daniel Morcombe

THE Catholic church service opened with a moving rendition by two Siena students of the famous Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah.

The word of the second verse rang true as rain had earlier fallen, as it often does on the anniversary of Daniel's disappearance.

"In my memories, I know you send familiar rains

"Falling gently on my days, dancing patterns on my pain!''

Unopened Christmas gifts for Daniel from Christmas 2003, Daniel's Year 9 report card, which he never saw as it arrived on the day he vanished, and a photograph of Daniel taken at school were placed on the coffin before Dean and Bruce delivered a heart-felt eulogy.

Cried like a baby during that video, It just isn't fair!!!

Its one thing to raise your children to be wary and stay safe, better to raise them to think that violence against others is intolerable.

Is anyone familiar with Douglas Brian Jackway? He was known as P5 in the coroner's inquest. The case against him was that he was one month out of jail for abduction at the time Daniel was abducted. He was travelling along the Nambour Connection Road around the time Daniel went missing. He owned a blue sedan which he quickly sold soon after Daniel started to feature in the news.

And he asked his girlfriend to give a false alibi and say he was with her all day on the day Daniel went missing. It all sounded very suspicious, and he was considered a top "person of interest".

But then there was just nothing further said about him. And it seems rather likely from all the evidence that two people took Daniel.

Yes I remember that one. The program Sunday Night had a segment about him back in 2009. I'd not be surprised at all if he was involved. He's yet another with a very lengthy criminal history!!

June 1, 2009

A convicted Queensland pedophile who has been linked to the disappearance of Daniel Morcombe is a ''biological psychopath'' who once bundled a 9-year-old boy into his car before violently sexually assaulting him, court documents reveal.

The ABC today reported Douglas Brian Jackway had recently been spoken to by police over the disappearance of 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe. Jackway was named by Channel Seven's Sunday Night program as a person of "prime interest" in the missing persons case, one of Queensland's most baffling.

Mr Morcombe said Jackway's name had first come up for investigation five years ago

Also, Sunshine Coast Daily has multiple reports on Jackway...

We had a missing boy in Australia and his parents became so close to the investigating officers that they held each other and cried together when he was found, and many times in the long years he was missing.

I read this snipped post from LauraT...along with..."His mother is the absolute picture of bereavement and grief". I was compelled to find out more. Fell asleep logged on...websites, YouTube videos...thinking and feeling for this beautiful child and his poor family left to grieve till the end of their days.

After all these sorrowful years, young Daniel's legacy lives on...to the new who become aware of his demise...and benefit, simply by seeing his smiling face, and offering up prayers to his loving family left behind.

God bless the Morcombe family.
