In future, I’ll call him JMK — Jill Meagher’s Killer.

I know even more about him now — about how he lives and what he does every day — than I did when I wrote a blog that ended up in a contempt of court conviction and a record $100,000 fine, which I refused to pay on principle.

And that led to 50 days behind bars.

I distastefully spent time with the notorious “Hot Chocolate rapist” Harry Barkas.

(He was one of the 93 per cent of my fellow inmates who were in there for sex offences.)

Find out from (Melbourne Assessment Prison) guard that JMK is not only in same prison but on same floor.

Been there about a year on suicide watch.

Under top security because he’s the most hated man in every jail.

Later a naive friend asks: “Is that because they’re horrified by what he did to Jill Meagher?” They couldn’t care less about the rape or murder.

They hate him because he’s stuffed parole for everybody else.

He attacked the women in the same inner Melbourne suburb where Jill Meagher was snatched from the street, and later murdered, in 2012.
The attacks occurred just minutes apart in Brunswick, in the early hours of Saturday.
Detective Senior Constable Dean Solomon said both women fought back when they were attacked.
"They have defended themselves so fiercely that in the end I think he has just given up," Det Snr Const Solomon told reporters on Thursday.

This is just terrifying!!! So many attacks on women over this side of town...Let's hope they get this guy fast, and give him a sentence deserving of his crimes (rather than, you know.. letting him walk free, repeatedly....:no: )

ETA: oh, how'd I miss this.. seems they got him quick smart - ANOTHER criminal let loose to commit more crime:

Prosecutor Louisa Dipietrantonio said Robertson had been released from prison on a burglary charge just seven days before he allegedly attacked the women in May this year.

Insult to injury, the second anniversary of Jill's death is marked by Moreland City Council having failed to take promised (and paid for) action. AND the parole situation is is as bad ever...:

ALMOST two years after Jill Meagher was killed while walking home alone from a Brunswick bar, the local council still hasn’t installed CCTV cameras on the street where she was last seen alive.

Despite accepting $250,000 from the State Government and agreeing in June last year to install nine cameras along Sydney Rd, Moreland Council has failed to get any of those cameras working.

And new figures show that last year, 60 parolees were convicted of a violent or sexual offence committed after they were given early release. On average, they reoffended within six months of release.

Moreland is MY City Council... shame on them! I'm keeping an eye out for any community action taken about this. I'm expecting some. And if there's not, well - I might just have to create it. :\

I was travellng up Sydney Road yesterday, pretty much from one end to the other.... and as I passed various landmarks, I found myself thinking of the victims of violent crime who've died along there. There's been a few, this past decade. At least two of those deaths could have been prevented by keeping violent criminals locked away.. Jill Meagher and Mersina Halvagis, two beautiful young women brutally murdered at the hands of men who *should have* been in prison.

I hope Tom's message makes a difference. I really do.

His violent criminal history spans more than three decades, and with every release from prison has been known to commit further crimes against women with increasing levels of violence.[1] His criminal signature is to remove the breasts of his female victims.[2]

As of 2007, Dupas has been convicted of three murders and is a prime suspect in at least three other murders committed in the vicinity of the Melbourne area during the 1980s and 1990s.[3]

It also seriously impacted on the final rape trial, which involved a Dutch backpacker who refused to return to Australia to testify.

WHY are these animals given so much protection?, where is the protection for the victims & the general public?? The legal system protects these animals. What a joke!!
 
If his file is not marked 'never to be released' we will know that the legal system cares more about criminals than innocent people in society.

What does someone have to do to prove they are a threat and that there is no chance of rehabilitation?
 
Yes fruity and possibly one day if he is released he will be protected with a media ban, a new name and a fist full of dollars.

JILL Meagher’s family are set to join a lawsuit against the State of Victoria that is likely to expose flaws in the parole system that have been blamed for up to a dozen homicides.
The Herald Sun can reveal the Meaghers will join the families of other people who were killed by criminals out on parole... :clap:

I'm pleased to read that victims are launching legal action against the Government and Victorian Parole Board. This action is exactly what needs to happen to bring about significant change in our Laws to protect our community from known 'deviant and dangerous' offenders who remain a 'risk' to the safety of law abiding citizens going about their daily lives. We need to hold these organisations to account IMO. Our society needs to recognize that some people grow up to be 'deviant and dangerous' and threaten the safety of others. These people need to be removed from mainstream society. The offenders 'rights' should not ever be more important than the safety of ordinary citizens in the community. IMHO.

Right behind you Meaghers, Cafferkey, Halvagis, Vukotic ...
