Triple J Hack program is doing a story on Missing Persons Week, beginning shortly, will try upload link when I get home.

http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hack/stories/s3816278.htm

On the 19th August 2012 23 year old Leisl Smith told her dad she was ducking out for a few hours but would be home that afternoon to feed her much loved animals.

It's been almost one year since she left and apart from two text messages shortly after her disappearance her family have not heard from her since.

Link also has a podcast of tonight's episode, interview with Leisl's sister

Heard the interview tonight. Heartbreaking! I hope someone out there calls in with some information.

Just listened as well...
A brave and strong interview - its bound to touch someone who knows something about Leisl. Lets hope they're as brave and strong as Leisl's family, and that they do something to help this situation - like ring the Police and give them some answers.

Hi All,
Above is the link to the Hack Program that I did the interview for. We have heard nothing from the Strike Force or the PIC of NSW. I know that many people are probably wondering re the POI's name and the 'Welder' but please remember that people are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and naming people or assuming guilt where no trial etc has been conducted can actually cause huge issues. It can potentially give the defence a basis of presumption and bias and can get the case thrown out of court (not saying this is what would happen).

It is partly for the reasons above that I do not mention this person(s) name and also while our family and I might have our suspicions about what this person does or doesn't know, and while we may like his name to be plastered all over the media, he is entitled to the same courtesy and privacy that we are.

Please remember this.

Thanks guys, hope you are all doing well. This week has been a little intense.

Cheers,
J x

I rarely ever listen to radio these days, and hadn't checked in here for a while, but despite this I randomly heard the radio interview on JJJ while doing the drive to the big smoke yesterday.

Just putting it out there that I hope J's heartfelt words have serendipitously reached others who may be able to shed light on this situation, and that hearing this interview is the catalyst for them to come forward and make a positive difference.

It must have been a stressful week for you and your family. You have had enough to deal with! Your interview was really good- you spoke beautifully. I really hope you get answers soon. xxxx

Thanks for your post, and for your dignity and restraint eccsci. <modsnip>I check Leisl's thread often for updates - a year is far too long without some news or resolution :(

All most of us are trying to do is to help find Leisl - and we need information to enable us to Sleuth, which is why we are here in the first place.

So you see, we do have an idea and a conscience.

BBM - Nobody here is trying to name and shame anyone - If they were there would be a few names already mentioned. All most of us are trying to do is to help find Leisl - and we need information to enable us to Sleuth, which is why we are here in the first place.

I also feel empathy for the loved ones. However, I have wondered about this POI and, of course, <modsnip>I had never heard of the word, "farrier" before so I looked it up so for others who also did not know before:

"A farrier is a specialist in equine hoof care, including the trimming and balancing of horses' hooves and the placing of shoes on their hooves, if necessary. A farrier combines some blacksmith's skills (fabricating, adapting, and adjusting metal shoes) with some veterinarian's skills (knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the lower limb) to care for horses' feet."

So with the police searches in many properties so far, I could not help but speculate if:

  • he was a rich older man owning or with access to many properties
  • whether he visited these other properties to do work
  • whether he already had a criminal record and that was the secret
  • whether Liesl came across something which he did not want anyone else to know about hence he was motivated to make sure that secret did not ever come out
  • whether her pregnancy and later miscarriage had something to do with it and she then rejected him as he might have wanted to marry her and now she was not pregnant, she changed her mind and he was angry with her as she wanted to end the relationship

Folks a double whammy of a reminder.

Please don't discuss comments from facebook or other forums. They are considered rumour & will be removed.

Also, if anyone personally knows anyone in this case you may like to become a WS Verified Insider. Entirely your decision but you may not discuss them if they've not been named in media or by police.

If you would like to add youself as an insider to the case, please contact Admin at the following link.

We only verify people who know the players or have been named in the media, etc

Hi All,
You won't hear anything from me for a while, as due to various reasons, any further statements will be put through our family lawyer (he represents myself, my dad and the rest of my siblings).

Hope you are all well and look after yourselves. I will drop by regularly to read though :)

Personally I think you need more than a "family lawyer" and a dang decent 'legal person' to really get to the crux of this case and find Leisl in any way or form - sorry - just my opinion.

I really feel for you and your family.
