Two additional witnesses in a “voluminous” body of evidence from media investigations led to the arrest of Chris Dawson, police say https://trib.al/ZOO22Yu

Paywalled

“Earlier this week, the ODPP provided advice to police, and following further inquiries, detectives applied for an arrest warrant before travelling to Queensland.

“Just before 8am today (Wednesday 5 December 2018), a 70-year-old Coolum man was arrested by detectives from the Queensland Police Service’s Homicide Squad in the presence of Strive Force Scriven investigators at Biggera Waters, on the Gold Coast, in Queensland.

“NSW detectives will apply for his extradition at his first court appearance.”

I managed to open it by going to the Twitter account and then clicking their link. [/URL]

“Predominantly statements from witnesses which helped us tie pieces of the puzzle together … no doubt it will be a voluminous brief,” he said.

Commissioner Fuller said while police had not abandoned hope of finding Mrs Dawson’s body, locating her remains was not essential to trying their case.

Commissioner Fuller conceded two witnesses were the result of media investigations.

“It is my understanding two additional statements were the work of the media.”

The article goes on to say:

That evidence came in the form of two additional witness statements described by the head of the Homicide Squad, Scott Cook as “corroborative, not crucial”.

NSW Police Commisioner Mick Fuller also hinted that police were pursuing fresh theories on where Ms Dawson’s remains may be.

WOW!

Please anyone with sound - I am in the office pretending to be working - jot down the main points.

Cheers.

Summation of video with Commissioner Fuller

  • Detective Cooke met with DPP this week which resulted in this positive outcome. DPP agree that there is now enough evidence to prosecute
  • Thanks public for patience
  • Spoke to family who were relieved and they have asked for patience in their confidentiality
  • Police can't provide the name of the 70 year old man (Not such a great secret)
  • He thanks Dan Poole for not giving up
  • The DPP's recent decision today's arrest is due to 2 additional pieces of evidence (witness statements) which were identified during Operation Scriven. These statements were a by-product of media coverage (TTP Podcast) and were taking since April 2018
  • Body not crucial in finalising this case.
  • Dan Poole and Spt Cooke are positive in the strength of this case and confident in a prosecution being made
  • 70 year old man came quietly from the Gold Coast and is currently awaiting extradition to Sydney which is expected in the coming days where he is expected to be charged with murder of Lynnette Dawson
  • Recent dig didn't provide any additional evidence
  • Police have a number of theories as to the location of Lyn's body and are hoping 70 year old man to assist them with these theories. Meanwhile they will not give up the search
Mark Burrow the channel 9 reporter then gives a summation. He states that it is unsure if one of the 2 statement's received include one from Joanne

Cheers for that.

I have to wonder if someone feeling the heat has rolled over? Or if not, will roll over as the heat increases on Chris, and perhaps that someone as well?
