CHRIS Dawson, the husband of Lynette Dawson who disappeared in the early 1980s, has been arrested in Queensland.

It’s believed he was arrested on the Gold Coast this morning. It’s believed he will be charged with murder.

“A 70-year-old man has been arrested this morning shortly before 8 o’clock in relation to the murder of Lyn Dawson,” confirmed Detective Chief Inspector Chris Olen.

“He’s been taken to Southport where he will be charged. NSW police will seek an extradition.”

It is understood police met with the DPP on Monday and a warrant was subsequently issued in NSW.

Ms Dawson's brother Gregg Simms told The Australian he was "quite emotional".
"We've had a cry, we've cuddled, we're just completely over the moon that something has finally happened,” he said.
The newspaper reported another relative, Allyson Jennings, had been sent a text message with news of Dawson's arrest this morning.
