Matter adjourned for a mention only on Tuesday the 18th of March 2014 court #9 at 9am. I'm unsure if it was due to a development in the case but Mr. Chardon's representative presented a letter from 'late last week' that apparently explained the reasons.

Gah, every day this man goes free irks me.

Novy didn't just vanish. She has to be -somewhere-. I do hope her remains are found so her family can give her a proper funeral. :(

ooooh there was an interview conducted via Channel 9. Two of her friends were interviewed which were wit her on the night. Something I learnt, didnt quite catch it in its entirety b/c of screaming children but Mr Chardon hired a steam cleaner the day after or something. Trying to find the interview to post .
ok just found it, it was a current affairs. link to video

In another recent Queensland murder case the body was dissolved in a wheelie bin using 20 litres of hydrochloric acid from a local Bunnings store:
"Klaus Andres, 70, has pleaded guilty to interfering with the corpse of his 42-year-old Chinese wife Li Ping Cao by dissolving it in acid."

Although the case above has some scary similarities with Novy's case (notice the age difference?) I believe the timeframe in Novy's case was too short for a similar disposal. I tend more to believe her body was dumped somewhere in the Gold Coast hinterland. Perhaps in a barrel that the killer had easy access to due to his business. And, who knows, a few bricks and funny chemicals might have made their way into that barrel too. My theory is it was dumped on the bottom of Advancetown lake which has easy access ramps, steep inclines and a good depth. It's close to Nerang, an area JC must be quite familiar with after having lived there for many years. It's also not far from Bowden Court where Novy's car was found.

From the Courier Mail February 20, 2013:
"Detectives raided Mr Chardon's Loganholme lubricant business, Candan Industries, on Wednesday and seized computer equipment and other items."
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...man-novy-chardon/story-e6freoof-1226582201048

I wonder if that business had a security system which logs the date and time of each activation/deactivation and if any out-of-hours entries could be found in the log on the night Novy "disappeared".

I recall the Lin Ping Cao case, we have a thread on that one.

I hope police do one day locate Novy, however I've always felt her body may have been dumped in Coomera River, which isn't far at all from where they lived. In the early days, police were conducting a lot of searches in Upper Coomera & Oxenford areas.

Terrible thought but I've read how that river is notorious for bull sharks. All those living close to it would be aware of that.

watched the interview again and have this time frame

Interview is with Novys friends Debbie and Rika
Reveals that at 3pm while she went to collect kids from school , her solicitor notifies her husband via email about impending divorce.
Police believe she arrived between 10:30-11pm that night
John Chardon said he found her missing at 7am next morning
7:45am John Chardon books the kids on the same flight
9:15am he went to the local Woolworths supermarket and hired a carpet cleaner
Rika had arranged to meet Novy the next day but Novy wasn’t return calls/texts so Rika goes over to NOvys home that afternoon
John tells Rika she packed her bags and went.

The rest we know about.
Police convinced more than one person involved in death and disposal of the body.

So it seems like something may have happened at home or possible in the car then, for him to hire the carpet cleaner. I wonder if the cleaner was returned and by whom. This would surely help out with who else was involved. If this info was provided straight away wouldnt they be able to locate traces of blood or whatever in the vaccum cleaner bag/pipes

Such a heartfelt interview with Debbie, you can feel the pain she is in thinking about what Novys poor children are going through without their dear mum. Johns accomplices need to give him up now. I have a feeling his daughter C is involved. She disappeared off facebook, within a week or so after Novys disappearance and I distinctly remember seeing all these Phillipino friends she was linking up to as well that same week. May nt be related but it sure was odd.
Its really only a matter of time now. One year is too long for him to be free. O we know where NOvys children are, are they with John and one of his other daughters.

Gosh, did you see how JC knocked over the reporter's microphone and almost push her out of the garage? I can imagine what was happened to Novy that night when she arrived home.

It annoys me to see how slow the police is working on the case knowing all the evidence is pointing to “the one person”. Although, I sort of understand why they don’t easily point a finger to him and risking that his sleeky lawyer will find a loop hole somewhere.
It probably easier if they can find her body. That would be a golden key to this case. If us at WS already thought the possibility where her body might be (Coomera river or the barrel with some chemical), I think the police would have thought that. Knowing that they have raided his home, business and the surrounding area with zero result, she might be somewhere else.

Even though her killer(s) haven't been charged, her body hasn't been found, I'm glad to see that her case is not forgotten.

Hot damn! Finally a bit of good news.. Thank you So much for those providing updates. That carpet cleaner's gonna put Chardon away for a very long time, methinks, or least play a significant role in it. It's only circumstantial, but a LOT of crooks are put away on circumstantial evidence alone and I think people tend to forget that in this age of DNA analysis.

A carpet cleaner's also not gonna suck up ALL the blood. No way. Has to be something left behind, surely.

I am very, very glad to see this case get national coverage like this. Let's hope there's more to come.

Another thought crossed my mind, being so close to sea, there is always a chance the body was disposed of in the sea. Especially if he had links to friends with a boat who support him all the way! Awful thought, but i reckon he is evil enough to do anything to cover his tracks.

Yep, I think they are building a good circumstantial case against Chardon too. And keeping him close with the other charges (and hopefully jail) while they do it.

- Notified of divorce proceedings the afternoon of Novy’s disappearance
- Muffled gunshot sound that night
- Booked children’s flights the morning after Novy disappeared – and yet they weren’t travelling for a couple more days – how did he know Novy wasn’t coming back?
- He decided to clean the carpets the morning after Novy’s disappearance
- He takes off on the morning of his flight to Indonesia, rips the top off the car ... a tad nervous … did he know Novy’s friend could report Novy as missing quite soon?
- Then he doesn’t report Novy missing, her friend does
- The people that were seen handling clothes at the back of Novy’s vehicle
- The other vehicles surrounding the dumping of Novy’s car (small white car, scooter – from memory)
- Engaged a lawyer right away
- He stays in Indonesia for weeks before police could get him back for DNA and questioning

Can’t imagine what else the police have - if we know this much, police must know much, much more. Wonder how long it will be till they grab a great prosecutor and go for it.

I applaud Novy's friends for doing all they have for Novy. Without them, this could easily have covered up Novy's disappearance and presumed death for a long time.

Just stumbled across this article.
http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...her-novy-chardon/story-fnihsrf2-1226815278033
But friends say the marriage began to disintegrate several years ago.

"She had issues with John for four or five years and Novy fell in love with another man on the Sunshine Coast but he broke it off three or four months before she went missing," a close friend says.

"Novy was devastated. She used to drive to the Sunshine Coast at 2am looking for him."

Also just thinking out loud if John noticed her missing at 7am on thursday when he woke. What made him assume she had gone? In the 1.45hrs he had when he woke, did he call her mobile/ contact her friends that she was with? Love to know what calls he made that morning. None!! i'd expect. Pretty presumptuous to assume your wife would not return, when you wake up at 7am. What if she had gone to the shops before he had woken or had a late night with friends.
Also the Carpet cleaner was hired on thursday morning 9:15am, the day after she disappeared. Did John get a sudden urge to do some house keeping!!!
I wonder when/where the cleaning was done? did the kids hear anything if it was in the house? The police would have been able to tell if any part of the house had just been carpet cleaned, might have still been damp, detergent smell of some sort. If it was cleaning of his car/her car, again there would have possibly been dampness/different smell if car was cleaned. Did neighbours here anything? if there was no carpet cleaning sound on the thursday at the house, then the carpet cleaner would have been taken to someone elses house to clean Novys car. Is this why the car was moved. Do we know if any other suspect might live close to Nerang where her car was found.
Otherwise my other train of thought is that she was dragged to some other persons house in her car/crime committed in her car or that persons house and John Chardon hired the cleaner on this persons behalf. Would love to know his movements on Thursday after he picked up the vacuum. Were his children used to staying home alone. Or did he take them with him that morning. It must have all happened pretty quickly as Rika went to his house that afternoon to check in on Novy.

RSBM

I think there is a good chance that he took the kids to school and expected them to carry on as normal - then picked up the carpet cleaner after he dropped them off. That would have given him the whole day to do whatever he needed to do to cover his trail ... with no young witnesses who might inadvertently let something slip to a friend or teacher.

You'r right South Aussie school would have commenced that week. So Rika would have visited late that afternoon then i assume as the kids were home by that stage according to the current affairs interview.

Gee I hope Novys kids have access to photos of the time they shared with their loving mother. I cant see John taking family shots of them. Sad to think that many of the photos were probably sitting in her iphone. Hope they at least have access of photos Novy shared thru facebook. Very sad........

Thank you very much for that info and link :tyou:
That is indeed a very odd behaviour for a man who already has a divorce, missing wife, two school aged kids, work and a business trip on his program for the next few days.

Just thinking out loud here: given the circumstances a possible future defence is going to have a very hard time trying to convince a jury of his innocence. They will probably have to go after technical/juridical details rather than a history of good/logical behaviour.

You'r right South Aussie school would have commenced that week.

We know from Novy's facebook page that she was in Indonesia with her kids and took them to a water park near Jakarta on January 22nd. On February 2nd she's posting old holiday photos from a location on the Gold Coast. I would imagine she was back from her holiday with the kids just before school commenced on January 29th.

We also know that Novy picked her children up after school on the day that she disappeared, according to MSM.

I had to go looking for the other vehicles that may have been involved in the dumping of Novy’s car.

And in another twist, they say they want to speak to a motorist and a moped rider seen about 2am in a Nerang street on the night she disappeared, and where her car was later found abandoned.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/new...e-hunt-continues/story-e6frg6n6-1226578269178

"It was about 10am on Sunday morning - there was a bit of activity going on," Mr Kristiansen said. "A balding, stocky bloke and a young woman were trying to jump-start a little white Corolla with a Falcon. They were looking across the road (at Mrs Chardon's car) and there was another older lady standing there, looking anxious.
"It looked suspicious, especially with all the clothes around the car. I just kept my eye on them.

http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/...om-business-trip/story-e6freoof-1226576570724

I guess it is possible that a moped was thrown into Novy’s SUV before it was dumped, and then used as the vehicle to get the person who dumped Novy’s SUV back home again. Or maybe the moped was brought to the scene by the other motorist, and then the person who dumped Novy's SUV used it to get home.

However, the people that were seen at the scene on the Sunday following Novy's disappearance would presumably not have included Chardon - as he supposedly left the country prior to Sunday.

"We belive the vehicle was collected, driven away and returned about six minutes later and parked on the opposite side of the road"

If her own car was used for dumping her body... well, here's where it was found (A) and an example (B) of what six minutes drive looks like according to Google maps:

http://goo.gl/maps/cnnCh

Lots of forest, lots of water..

I can't think why else they'd take her car for six minutes and then return it to the exact same street... Maybe dumping those stickers, her personal identifying items, as a last-minute thing? A thorough search in that six minute radius might still turn up -something-...
