"who was charged over a cannabis raid" ---- BINGO.

Now what I want to 100% confirm is:

a/ whether the biker 'feeder gang' article was referring to Sheerin's property and,
b/ whether Babbington was charged over the raid at Sheerin's property.

If these things pan out, it puts a LOT of things in perspective. Like why CCC was involved from the get-go... not over JC's pedo activity, as there's no evidence he networked and the CCC is all about networks there. Not over a few unregistered guns, lots of people are caught with those, and CCC doesn't jump in. But they ARE interested in gang activity, organised crime and corruption......

It also explains why this investigation is getting increasingly strange. There's a much bigger pictiure....

Poor Novy, perhaps her murder will be the undoing of a whole PILE of criminals, and the people supporting and aiding their criminal activity too. I kind of hope so, it would be a fitting thing to happen for the taking of her life.

It’s understood police linked David Babbington to the Advancetown property after a previous raid uncovered a dismantled hydroponic marijuana setup at the premises.

Amee, bless, we cross-posted.

Bingbingbing, we have a winner On point b/ !

Now, I am pretty sure point a/ is covered here, but I want to see it in msm. I am SURE this is the same property, though.

Awesome, Amee, thanks.

Justice is coming, Novy. Slowly, but surely.

Novy Chardon: Search for Gold Coast woman 'not over' two years after disappearance

It has been two years since Gold Coast woman Novy Chardon disappeared, with police fearing she was murdered.

Detectives are convinced more than one person is behind her death and her killers are still at large.

Her husband John Chardon has previously been named by his own lawyer as the chief suspect, although Mr Chardon denies any involvement.

Timeline of Novy Chardon's disappearance:

February 6, 2013: Disappears, last seen at a Coomera service station.
February 8, 2013: Husband John Chardon goes to Indonesia with their children for a business trip.
February 10, 2013: Missing person alert issued.
February 11 2013: Her car found near the Nerang train station.
February 13, 2013: Bushland close to her Upper Coomera home searched.
February 20, 20013: Police search Mr Chardon's business.
February 25, 2013: Mr Chardon flies back from Indonesia and is interviewed by police for several hours.
March 4, 2014: Police start digging up a Mt Nathan backyard.
March 6, 2014: Police find parts of a white ute. A model seen near Ms Chardon's abandoned car.
January 28, 2015: Police search Gold Coast hinterland property for Ms Chardon's remains, but don't find items of interest.

Wow ... 2 years have passed. Novy's children have been without her for a long time now. I hope that they have been able to maintain Novy's sunny disposition, despite being forced to live in that family. And hopefully their slimy father is kept away from them and in jail until (at least) they are old enough to escape the clutches of that family.

"We have progressed quite significantly over the last two years and we still have a number of avenues to follow.

"The efforts we've put in so far would show the commitment that the detectives have. It's not over yet, we still have inquires to go."

Sigh. Another year. I'll have a glass of chardy for you, Novy. and let's hope we don't see a third.

David Babbington was charged with possessing and producing dangerous drugs and is next due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on February 17.

Thank you all for not only this but all the excellent posts lately and for keeping us up-to-date on the case.

It's very interesting how that Babbington name keeps popping up in the investigation. There must be something more to it that the police aren't shedding light on publicly. He can't just be a distant acquaintance that John knew years back. I imagine they have concrete evidence on the ties between John Chardon and Daivd Babbington. Maybe Babbington is in a call log from that night 2 years ago, the days leading up to it or some unexplainable funds transfer have taken place between them? Would be wonderful with a real breakthrough.

There we go.

The bigger picture kind of comes together, when you consider the CCC's involvement with a witness who dobbed Babbington in. Might hint as to why Chardon's led a 'charmed' existence until recently. Poor Novy might have just been in the middle of a huge can of worms, and paid the price for leaving her grub of a husband, thus making herself a risk to him -- and maybe a whole lot more.

I think that's very much spot on Ausgirl. It seems very likely Novy was expended because she knew too much, wanted money and kids. Because of the knowledge she had she might have felt she was in a better position for negotiating with her -blip- of a husband than she actually was.

From a previous news article when David Babbington's backyard was excavated:
Evidence extracted from secret Crime and Misconduct Commission “star chamber” hearings – where witnesses are forced to give evidence of crimes under threat of jail – is believed to have led police to the Mt Nathan address.

sept 2014:

Police swoop on bikie feeder gang Southside Soldiers and seize drugs, stolen goods, weapons and cash

ONE of the Gold Coast’s most violent street gangs has been shut down by police in a dawn blitz across the southern end of the city.

An elaborate hydroponic cannabis crop believed to be linked to the gang was also shut down just as it was being harvested at Advancetown with plants more than 1.8 metres tall and weighing more than 50kg.

The raid above seems to have taken place on the 5th of September 2014. Unless there's a mistake in the following it doesn't exactly match the time of the raid (in December 2014?) that we now know David Babbington was involved in:

Police said the unoccupied 3.6ha property – owned by Coulter’s mum Loretta Sheerin and which was the subject of a drug raid last month – was linked to one of the “persons of interest” in the Chardon murder investigation.

John Chardon appeals child sex convictions

The husband of missing Gold Coast woman Novy Chardon is set to appeal his convictions for sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

John Chardon was sentenced to six years' imprisonment last August after he was found guilty of six historical child sex offences, including rape and attempted rape.

The offences, dating back to the late 1990s, involved a 14-year-old family friend.

An appeal is due to be heard in the Supreme Court in Brisbane on Tuesday.

There's a segment on Current Affair at the moment that includes Novy. Will try for a link later on.

http://www.9news.com.au/national/2015/03/19/14/52/chardon-s-rape-trial-to-stay-in-southport

Gold Coast man John Chardon has failed in a bid to have his rape trial either moved to Brisbane or decided by a judge instead of a jury.

The husband of missing woman Novy Chardon is facing a charge of rape and three counts of indecent treatment of a child.

The charges are not related to Mrs Chardon's disappearance in February 2013.

Chardon's lawyers argued last month the extensive publicity around the case would deprive him of a fair trial if it was held before a jury in Southport.

Chief Judge Kerry O'Brien rejected the application in the Brisbane District Court on Thursday.

He said that after examining media reports submitted by Chardon's lawyers he didn't see the publicity as being so prejudicial that it would risk a fair trial in Southport.

:bump: Bump for Novy - no news but still not forgotten. Her kids deserve to know where her remains are so they can honour their loving mother.

John Chardon contests child sex case; wants fresh evidence heard

THE husband of missing woman Novy Chardon has applied to have an appeal hearing re-opened on the grounds that fresh evidence should have been heard at his child sex offence trial.

John Chardon, 67, was jailed for six years in the District Court at Southport in August after a jury found him guilty of six historical child sex offences, including the rape, attempted rape, unlawful carnal knowledge and indecent treatment of a child under 16 who was under his care.

The girl, who is now a married mum of three, was 14 and Chardon was 52 when he first molested her at his daughter’s sleep over in the late 1990s.

Former solicitor-general Walter Sofranoff QC and barrister Tony Kimmins, both acting for Chardon, argued in the Court of Appeal on Tuesday that evidence on the girl’s mental health should have been cited as evidence at trial.

Mr Sofranoff said evidence that centred on the girl’s psychiatric and psychological health could have had a bearing on the scope of the defence’s cross-examination of the complainant and ultimately could have affected the verdict.

He said the evidence, which was unheard at trial, went to the complainant’s credit and should be tendered at a retrial.

Hope he doesn't worm his way out of this charge :(
