A 27-YEAR-OLD man accused of killing Gold Coast man Greg Dufty is a cousin of pop star Ricki-Lee Coulter and a one-time *advertiser censored* star.

Aaron Crawford was yesterday extradited from New Zealand, arriving at Brisbane Airport on Qantas Flight QF126 late in the afternoon before being taken away to be charged with the murder of 37-year-old father, Mr Dufty.

Police arrested Crawford in Auckland at the weekend and were granted the extradition order for him to face Brisbane Court this morning on charges of murder and interfering with a corpse.

Crawford first made headlines back in 2008 when he was mistaken for Coulter’s husband Jamie Babbington after appearing online in X-rated photos.

Crawford’s cousin Lionel Patea, 24, is a co-accused charged with Greg Dufty’s murder and is also related to Coulter.

Police will allege the two were contracted to look after a drug debt owed by Mr Dufty, who was last seen at Ashmore on July 6.

Security camera footage shows Mr Dufty parking his hired utility at Ashmore Steak and Seafood restaurant at Ashmore before being picked up by a Mack truck on Ashmore Rd.

Police will allege he was then driven to a remote area at Mt Nathan where he was transferred to a waiting car.

Sources revealed this week Mr Dufty racked up the debt after meeting a group of men at a rugby club but was unable to pay it back.

Mr Dufty’s body has never been found and Patea’s lawyer, Campbell McCallum, said his client denied the charges.

Patea, who was already in custody charged with the murder of his former partner Tara Brown, is due to face court again on November 11.

Detectives are still searching for Mr Dufty’s body and anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A HOUSE belonging to the mother of pop star Ricki-Lee Coulter has been raided by police in connection with the disappearance of Gold Coast woman Novy Chardon
High-profile Gold Coast criminal lawyer Campbell MacCallum, who arrived at the Advancetown property, told reporters his clients denied any involvement in Mrs Chardon’s disappearance.

RICKI-LEE Coulter’s stepfather will face court next month accused of allowing his Gold Coast Hinterland home to be used to grow hydroponic cannabis.

Police raided the unoccupied Advancetown home, owned by the pop star’s mother Loretta Sheerin and her husband John Sheerin, in November last year and allegedly discovered a dismantled hydroponic setup.

Police allegedly discovered large amounts of hydroponic equipment, harvesting materials and tools at the Nerang-Murwillumbah Rd home.

David Babbington, who is the cousin of Ms Coulter’s ex-husband Jamie Babbington, and William Loli were both charged with producing a dangerous drug.
Months later the same Advancetown property was scoured by detectives, police divers and about 50 SES volunteers in relation to the disappearance of Gold Coast woman Novy Chardon. The Upper Coomera mother was last seen in February 2012 and her millionaire husband John Chardon became a suspect.

THE Mt Nathan property where police dug up car parts this week, as part of an investigation into the disappearance of mother Novy Chardon, has been raided by officers before.

The criminal record of David Babbington, who lives in the Eden Park Court home that officers this week declared a crime scene, shows that police found methadone at his house when they searched it in 2010.

Babbington later pleaded guilty to possessing methadone and was given a good behaviour bond.

His criminal record, dating to 2006, also showed Babbington has been found guilty of assaulting and obstructing police in the past.

The Bulletin believes that police linked Babbington to the Chardon case after he was spotted meeting with Novy’s husband, John Chardon, during a covert police operation.

Yesterday morning Babbington and his lawyer, Campbell MacCallum, returned to the Eden Park Court home to assist police in identifying car parts that had been excavated from the backyard.

On Wednesday, they pulled up parts of a black Nissan Navara, but it was not the white F100 utility they were looking for.

Most of the white ute, which was the same make and model of one spotted near where Mrs Chardon’s car was dumped at Nerang 13 months ago, was finally found yesterday — after more than two days of digging.

Detective Superintendent Dave Hutchinson said the owner of the Mt Nathan home was known to Mrs Chardon’s husband, John.

“The male occupant of that house has met Mr Chardon in the past,” he said.

Mr MacCallum confirmed Mr Babbington was “an acquaintance” of Mrs Chardon's husband, John.

Isn't it interesting how this same circle of persons related to the Babbingtons, Ricki-Lee Coulter and John Chardon keeps making headlines on drugs, murders, persons who "disappear" in the hinterland, ute's that are dug down in a backyard, etc.?

And they all use the same lawyer

Please Queensland government, DON'T go soft on the bikie blitz now. I have lived amongst it all for the past 3 years and it sure has improved. We in our high-rises no longer wonder who we will come across in our building or garage. And we haven't had a meth lab raid in our building since January.

I think Patea is getting shipped back to NZ with all the other detainees

Ricki-Lee Coulter recently said (Gold Coast Bulletin within the past 2 weeks) that she has nothing to do with her cousins. However she is close to her mother, and mother's property has been dug up in the search for Novy.

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree

Interesting that neither Greg Dufty nor Novy's bodies has ever been found.

I just popped in to say I still think about Novy, I wonder how her children are going? I hope that this is the year that there will be closure!
