To paraphrase his post on FB today (via phone) -- he is maintaining his absolute innocence.

Pfffffft.

How is a guy in jail, on a charge of MURDER no less, getting access to social media? I wonder if the prison knows about it.

2.21.12 am - Faint screams heard.
2.21.50 am - GT tried to phone is lawyer.
38 seconds OMG.
He clearly had his number in speed dial.

38 seconds and he immediately calls his lawyer...

If he thought he imagined her fall, as he later suggested, he wouldn't be calling his lawyer straight away.

He'd be in total shock, running to the ground to see if she fell or he imagined it.

Instead, he goes into flight mode and immediately starts distancing himself from the body...putting a lot of physical space in between him and the crime scene...and calling lawyer/daddy for help. That suggests guilt, not shock and surprise.

Essentially creating two alibis:

1. I wasn't there - I was getting food and tried to call her to see where she was etc
2. I was high on alcohol/drugs and thought I imagined it

Each one could be used depending on the legal advice given I presume. That ten minute gap between getting pizza and calling his dad, he's formulating a plan. Even his phone call sounded staged 'err dad I've gotten myself into a pickle, you see...'

I have had two friends who have witnessed people falling off tall structures - one was a suicide, one was an accident. Their immediate reaction was shock and then to help.

surely his mates dont think its GT updating

Im wondering if its his brother using it.

I wondered if he wrote it down on paper for his brother or Daddy to type in.......

He'd better not have an iPhone on him.......

May I also add, both of the jumps happened right in front of my friends - exactly like the Tostee situation.

He must miss his social media and all the wheeling and dealing he conducted on there.:juggling:

That will be hurting........

Well, Tostee's accessed his FB via iPhone and has posted - proclaiming his innocence!!

Yup - he's learnt nothing about keeping silent.

Lawyer's dream

Isis, I posted on page 1 of this thread, what prisoners can have in prison, and those do not include a computer or mobile phone or anything that gives internet access for the purpose of e-mails or social media contact.
The same applies to what visitors can take in. This is an extract from the same government site

"a communication device, including a computer, mobile phone, radio or radio scanner"

People can have FB accounts hacked. they can also give out their security code. If the posts are genuine I suggest they have been made on GT's behalf from either verbal instructions or a letter he has written.

nowvoyager, I read John Safran's Murder in Missisippi, where he had regular contact with the perpetrator while he was imprisoned in jail via disposable mobile phones. The perp would call Safran on these phones. Apparently there is a black market in prison for mobile phones (in the US anyway). Does this happen in Australia...could there be a black market for illegal phones?

I have had limited experience with the jail system so would be interested in your opinion!

I know, nowvoyager - I read your post. It was really helpful and much appreciated.

And that's why I speculated up thread that he wrote it down on a piece of paper for his brother or father to type in when they left the visit.

:seeya:

Just noting a couple new timeline entries I haven't seen before -- damn the media, giving it out in dibs and drabs. Vultures..

12.57am: He says, 'don't go baby please and then asks 'are you hungry at all, to which she replies 'I don't usually eat'.

1.01am - 1.06am: He tells her he has 'IQ of 150 but doesn't use it' and shows her 'some house that he has designed' before telling her to 'chill, have a drink'. he makes a reference to his day job, saying she can 'come to my work tomorrow ... you can help me lay carpet'.

1.09am: He says they should go to Jupiter's [casino] and they discuss that 'food and sex and sleep are the best things in the world'.

1.16am: After discussing gods, and him saying he is 'Zeus' there is the sound of hitting and he says 'You have no idea ... English mother *advertiser censored**er. Do you speak it?'

And you raise a good point MZD. I used to work in rehab with young adults who had just left the prison system. And they had access to every drug they wanted on the inside. They actually came to rehab AFTER prison, to get clean for life on the outside. True story.

So I know there are formal rules, but I also know that the prison system - in reality - is a law unto itself.

And I kind of wondered if he may indeed have access to a phone. I'd think that if you can easily and readily access heroin and methamphetamine in prison that you may well be able to get your hands on an iPhone.......moo.

Stupidity, sincere cry for help or messing with the media? I wonder

Well if it's a cry for help, maybe he'd care to recall his own response to Warriena's REPEATED cries for help..........:furious:

It will be interesting to know whether that 3 minute pause near the pillar outside gave him any opportunity to feel sure the death was real, not imagined (ie. could he see the body from that location?).

He may have been quite fearful of being thought to be responsible and decided to flee the scene. I don't know how common this is for innocent people. And it's perhaps possible his feelings of guilt may only have stemmed from actually having met her and spending the evening with her - not necessarily from causing a balcony fall. Maybe. It could try to be argued.

Yep. He want's pen pals.

Look up the Lacey bros facebook accounts. Same deal

MZD, I have no doubt that some items get into jails, just as some contraband gets into Aus despite the best endeavours of customs, Aussie post, and those amazing little sniffer dogs.

But I think the Qld jails would need to be pretty tight as they are endeavouring to keep society safe from escapeees and prisoners safe from each other (and themselves). Maybe things are even tighter at the moment as they are concentrating on enforcing the new no-smoking ban.

Just as a matter of interest I found this posted about finds from Victorian prisons in 2012

"A GUN fashioned into a pen, a mobile phone turned into a wristwatch and a toothbrush crafted into a knife are among a haul of banned items seized at Victorian jails.

Weapons, drugs and alcohol, *advertiser censored* and computer games are among the more than 290 contraband items caught on prisoners and visitors to state jails each week.

Homemade weapons, including batons and replica handguns, designer sunglasses, syringes and even tattoo guns, are among items confiscated by authorities conducting random drug tests and searches.

PS and I guess a lot of them have a LOT of time on their hands"

I've seen no evidence anywhere of him feeling any guilt at all. On the transcripts he expresses absolutely no concern about Warriena or the fact that she died. All he's concerned about is himself.
