I notice that someone on another forum is predicting (in their ever-changing siggy) that Tostee may get an acquittal or minimal jail time if he does not have any $$ for a proper defence. :hilarious:

After blowing through who-knows-how-much-money for not one, not two, but three defence lawyers, I'm sure the court will be happy for him to be defended by a Legal Aid lawyer (who may or may not end up being a top lawyer).

Yeah - like defending a murder charge is somehow equatable to being 20c short down at the corner shop lol. "Oh it's alright, we'll let you off this time eh...." :therethere:

Both words I've bolded....recording and device are plural....

Audio recordingS from mobile phoneS found in a car in the building's basement are believed to be the lead detectives were looking for to arrest Tostee on Friday.

I don't get too excited over one sentence in a newspaper.

I was an eyewitness to a couple of events that were printed up in the papers. I was amazed at how much of the story they had wrong. As a result, I am always skeptical of what's in print. Even when they aren't trying to sensationalize, sometimes they just don't get the facts straight.

I think maybe it needed parentheses... ie. OP thinks GT 'will get an acquittal (or minimal jail time if not enough $$ for good defense).

? :)

Wow, logged in and can't believe how bizarre it has all become. Thanks for the good wishes, will be in here for some time. Gives one an insight into institutions ... However this one is about love, care and healing ...
Thank goodness this case will move forward on Monday.

Hope your are doing well Possy.
Monday will be interesting indeed.

Does anyone know the specifics as to how Julie Anne Frost became an advisor to/with GT?

WANNABE lawyer advising the family of accused murderer Gable Tostee has been accused of becoming the wedge behind his split with two of Queensland’s top criminal lawyers.
Former Bond law student Julie Frost — who has been charged with using a carriage service to menace — has reportedly been closely involved with the Tostee family.
It is understood a complaint from one legal team has been lodged against Ms Frost and her involvement with governing body the Legal Services Commission.

BUT they got this right
Police have oppose bail, arguing .... Tostee has a "Callous disregard for human life"

Figgy, I think they were actually sleeping together - Tostee mentions a woman he 'saved' from an 'Aborigine' (if I recall rightly -- actually, he stepped into in argument she was having with a Maori girl, after JF got into a fight -- apparently chucking some racist slurs around according to the other, much younger girl's mum, links to all this posted above today). And saw her a few times after that.

So whatever behaviour caused one of his former legal teams to complain about her, probably stemmed from there.

link..A woman claiming to be an ex-fling contacted the Bulletin to say Mr Tostee had helped save her from a violent attack.

“I dated Gable Tostee and despite him being a ... 6 foot 3 hunk, and genius, he also rescued me from an attack and broke up violent attackers with skilled words,” she wrote.

Again, because of our sub-judice laws, the above is incorrect. Once a person has been charged with a crime sub-judice laws begin and media is only permitted to publish details of the case which the judge/courts allow.

As for the audio recordings, it has already been reported there are several recordings as well as multiple phones. This is directly from the bail hearing.....

Mr Tostee's lawyers successfully applied to have a surpression order placed on who Mr Tostee's rehabilitation doctors will be and his treatment location.

They also succeeded in preventing the release of several audio transcripts that will be included in their defence case.

And we already knew there were multiple phones....

Police will allege they later found three mobile phones in a car in the Avalon basement.

Guys we don't allow screen shots from facebook and we don't allow discussions about comments from facebook or other social media.

You can paraphrase, include the link but that's as far as it goes...no further discussions.

Sorry FigTree, my FB account is closed so my links to it are going dead. If someone else can find it via her profile link in the GC Bulletin comment section on today's article.

Justice Mullins wasn't overly happy with him either....

November 19, 2014

Justice Mullins said she was still troubled by Mr Tostee’s focus on himself, rather than regret or distress about what happened on Ms Wright.

:) Nothing I said was incorrect. It's my opinion of newspaper reports.

There is more on the audio that has been released in transcript. That's why there are several transcripts.
"Defence lawyer Soraya Ryan said she wanted the surpression to prevent "selective editing" by the media if the evidence was released before Mr Tostee's trial."
http://www.smh.com.au/it-pro/gable-tostee-granted-bail-but-banned-from-tinder-20141119-11po6s.html
^^^Because reporters write in their own style even if they are limited to what they are allowed to report.

Hopefully, Monday will bring some actual new news. :)

My apologies. I thought you were disputing the fact that police have multiple recordings/multiple phones and you were labelling it as misinformation by media ;)

I'm not sure we'll hear too much "new news" tomorrow about GT's murder charge. As I've previously mentioned, further details aren't usually released until the Committal Hearing....unless of course something completely unpredictable occurs such as the charges being dropped.

However, we might hear further about all his previous charges.....

Tostee's case will return to the Southport Magistrates Court on January 12.

He is also facing other charges including obstructing police, creating a public nuisance and driving offences unrelated to Ms Wright's death.
