Have you followed Haileigh Cummings and Hailey Dunn cases? And of course Caylee Anthony? What a mess! It was no longer about the missing children, it was about the family drama. I think people were more interested in finding out what Billie Dunn was wearing or when Ron Cummings got a tattoo. :what:

I hope if they do decide to go to the media, it will be with a reputable news station. Perhaps start local first. :moo:

Enough said. The public is like a pack of jackals when it comes to this sort of thing.

But people in the street knew about the children in those cases...even if they also knew about the nutty adults...

These cases really do fade away...Baby Lisa was in national news for weeks, then...gone. Same with Ayla and many others. Even Kyron-Nancy G. struggled to remember who he was, on the show the other night when someone mentioned him...

I go by Marc K.-it is up to the parents to keep child in publics' eyes and hearts-yes, it is far more uncomfortable in these days of social media and intense scrutiny, but SO WHAT? This is about the child...chances are any secrets your family may have are going to come out anyway. They really need to take advantage of the current interest and not let it fade away...

Exactly....nutty adults AND the missing child. Not instead of. I'm in Chicago and I know of all of those cases- that's the point! That's the goal! To have people everywhere stop and take a second look if they see a child who looks like a missing child.

Certainly when cases get cold and there's nothing left to discuss, talk turns to tattoos and what not. I'm not saying that isn't unfortunate. But that isn't the case here, it's barely over a week. Get out there! Now is the time, because with each passing day, Isabel's chances decline, as do the memories of any potential witnesses.

I hope you're right, Lark, because I'm about ready to toss in the towel on this case. Even if NG covers the story on her show tonight, I'll be tuned in to DWTS that I missed last week. There isn't anything new to report, so NG will be re-hashing and speculating on what is known to date - and it's not much. :moo:

bbm - just like us here! :floorlaugh:

It just occurred to me that I don't think LE has any idea what has happened. They have said again and again that they need tips, that they are working off of tips. I think this is the reason they keep making comments wanting the parents to talk to the media. So they can get more tips, and have something to work on. MOO

I'm not from Tucson but I would guess she's still at the top of the news. Someone posted about twitter. She ranks up there as the top 10 news story. Nancy Grace as of an hour ago still has Isabel as her top story on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...59500548286.116726.56641053286&type=1&theater

Lisa's case = another mess, imo. The parents made the media rounds and they were criticized over and over even as far as people speculating that the only reason they went to the media was for money.

My heart really goes out to the Celis family. It's damned if you do and damned if you don't, imo.

I respect Marc Klaas but he has been wrong a few times.....polygraphs and media appearances are not the end all be all, unfortunately. Sometimes some good 'ole fashion detective work is all is needed. LE was already saying this was headed to the cold case file. What? It was only 5 days when they said that. :banghead:

The sad part is even with those other cases where the media exposure turned to a 3 ring circus, the children are still missing.

Who would challenge them? Heck we would have a 5 hour series on all the misinformation released on shows like Nancy Grace.

Check this out from her facebook when talking about the neighbour:

She even says the girl seemed ‘comfortable’ enough to go with them.

:what:

Having seen the interview with the neighbor, she DID say that (the girl seemed ‘comfortable’ enough to go with them).

I have wondered from the start if them saying she went to bed with her brothers was just a reference to the TIME she goes to bed. For instance "Isabel and her brothers all go to bed together" (meaning at the same time, not necessarily in the same place).

bbm, maybe but I have a 10 and 14 yo and they do not go to bed at the same time. the older one gets to stay up a little later.

In Sierra's case, LE is talking about staying within a 20-mile radius to search, and here, we hear 3 miles...why the difference? Due to city vs. country?
LE is looking near their possible suspects' homes and these are likely near the victims' homes.

In Sierra's case, LE re-searched in Gilroy and San Martin. Perhaps a possible suspect used to live in Gilroy and the city of San Martin lies between Gilroy and Sierra's home. :silenced:

NG gets it wrong many times. This was a misquote or misspoke or whatever you want to call it. Someone posted the exact quote and link.

1 down - 5 to go?

Why would it take so long to get in contact with the remaining people? They have one person you would think the LE would have them all by now. As they all know each other? Didn't they or just random people who met at a bar? JMO

I just saw on HLN where they have now identified three of the five individuals from the surveillance video and they are looking for the other two!

I was thinking John Couey. No car. Elizabeth Smart - did her abductors have a car?

No.

For me there is no such thing as "too much importance" being placed on the media. This child is missing. Someone could see her, or find her clothing, or notice that their relative is acting strangely. That someone needs to remember Isabel rather than blowing it off. If LE can't solve this case, the next step is the public. Anyone who sees anything should be reporting it, but they have to be aware of the case to do so. As the case grows colder, awareness will drop. It will then be up to Isabel's parents and the media to keep her case in people's minds.

So for me, it's not so much that the parents should be speaking to Isabel or her abductor in the media. Her parents should be speaking to the public so they know what to look for.

Exactly! That is why I would be out there everyday. Because some neighbor or co-worker or girlfriend might hear my pleas and be affected and then think about something they may have seen or heard and link it. Or some potential witness might see Isabel with some dude. Without media attention, he or she would not know she is missing.

There was a young teen girl who was taken by her adult boyfriend to California, not too long ago. I think he murdered her mom in the process.
A man (or woman) out here had seen her case featured on the NG the show and then called police after seeing the girl enter the store, IIRC. She was rescued.

I think the parents make a mistake by not being out in the public eye more.

I'm surprised to see posts talking about how Isabel isn't getting much national coverage, or it's beginning to fade. I did a search on Google News, and it looks like a lot of the media is still actively covering the story. I have noticed that we sometimes disagree about the amount of coverage a case is getting, I wonder why that is?

I don't understand LE not having interviewed all 5 people-weren't they together? Wouldn't each one know the names of the other 5 and give the info to LE? This should have been done days ago, IMO...

I think people are nervous in advance of it happening, i.e. that coverage will soon slow down as it appears that LE is kind of stumped...JMO

This is why i mentioned in last post that maybe the group met a couple of the friends from a bar that night. Therefore not sure of their address or phone number maybe? Maybe they are not long time friends just friends from the bar that night. JMO

I can't imagine being given the opportunity to appear on GMA to give exposure to the issue of my missing child and saying "no thanks, we want the focus to stay on Isabel." HUH? Makes no sense. I am so frustrated by this case - it feels like they're impeding the investigation by their behavior and lack of initiative.

Agree, I would be on every show everyday to make sure my child's name and picture is all over the place. Nuts!

1 down - 5 to go?

:waitasec: The five appeared to be walking together, as a group, which led me to believe that they probably knew one another. Wouldn't the one person who came forward be able to tell LE who he or she was with that night? :moo:
