An interesting comparison read from Bonnie McGrath citing the Bali case.Bonnie McGrath is an award-winning long time Chicago journalist, columnist, blogger and lawyer.
Title: While we're on the subject of sociopaths….

Pic 1:
Wonder why they tagged this photo saying 'relative'?
APRIL 21: Heather Mack,19, of the United States holds her daughter whilst speaking to a relative ahead of her verdict hearing on April 21, 2015 in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia.
Was it a relative of Mack's (or was it Schaefer's) or not a relative at all?
In the following photo, she is behind Tommy and sitting with one of his relatives (I think). Both of them are texting on their phones. This woman has been seen with Kia in the courtroom so perhaps the reporters have confused her with someone connected to her. She has been around since one of the first court appearances and is likely an Australian expat who likes hanging around Bali prisons and helping foreigners for money. :notgood:

Ohhhhhhh .... the execution letters have been issued and the embassy meeting has been scheduled for Andrew and Myuran.
And that murderous #@$#@# gets 10 years!!!!
I believe there are 10 people scheduled for this round of executions. Did any of them murder anyone in cold blood and then stuff them naked in a suitcase tied up with duct tape?
It's an outrage for sure.

Oh and that woman only received a 13 month sentence and was 4 months pregnant when she committed her crime and gave birth while imprisoned so she'll be out of there very soon.
Somewhere in all of our links, I believe I read that pregnant women and women with children are kept separate. Perhaps that was true at one time, but the prison got more crowded and/or there weren't that many pregnant women, let alone women who wanted to keep their children in prison.
It sounds like they're getting put in a solitary confinement cell usually reserved for violent inmates. HM may or may not decide it's an improvement.
FWIW, here's an image of Julian Ponder eating a meal cooked for him in Kerobokan - at a price, of course. HM eats and drinks cr*p because that's what she wants to eat and drink.

IIRC, some countries allow a citizen convicted abroad to be brought home to serve out their sentence. I really wish the US did this. For all its terrible reputation, I think both TS and HM are much happier there than they would be in US prisons.
And HM would most likely never have been allowed to have Stella in prison.
No toddlers are not kept in US prisons, not even babies. They have to be given up to somebody.
Actually you'd be surprised LinasK. There are several mother and baby nurseries in U.S. prisons as well as other countries (Canada and the UK also comes to mind). It's a totally different set up of course but interesting to research.
It in no way compares to what Stella is being put through with absolutely no supervision and is not available to women convicted of violent crimes. They have to be approved and it's not automatic. No doubt it's what Favia argues when in chancery court NOT advocating for her client, Stella, but rather trying to get at the money for her mother HM (and her own fees) pretending it's in Stella's best interests to "bond" with her mother.
Here's a report from Canada, ironically featuring a prison just outside Chicago.
