Bill Cosby is legally blind, according to defense attorneys

By Ricardo Montero-Hernandez, CNN

Updated 1:51 PM ET, Fri October 28, 2016

(CNN)Bill Cosby's defense attorneys declare he is legally blind in a new motion filed in a Pennsylvania court, and they argue that the impairment will hamper his ability to defend himself at his criminal trial.

In a footnote within the motion filed Thursday, Cosby's attorneys say he is "legally blind" -- which means he has a vision of 20/200 or less in the better eye, according to the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind -- and has registered with the state Commission. A copy of a doctor's report will be provided at the next hearing in the case, set for Tuesday...

He was not blind when he drugged and raped the woman.....being blind now does not excuse him from a trial nor a conviction or sentence. I do hope too, it was an independent state approved doctor that has signed off on him being blind. Money can talk.

Cosby Lawyer Says Client Is Blind, 'Not a Meme'

by Hannah Rappleye and Tracy Connor

Bill Cosby's lawyers told a Pennsylvania judge Wednesday that the comedian is too blind to recognize a parade of women who say he drugged and sexually abused them.

"In the materials the prosecution has turned over…there are photographs. Mr. Cosby cannot look at a photograph," defense lawyer Angela Agrusa said. "He can't tell you what is in that picture."

The argument, which the defense also made in court papers last week, was picked apart by Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neil.

"There is no evidence in this case that Mr. Cosby doesn't have the ability to recollect events," O'Neil said. "You're taking the leap to say sight equals the inability to recollect events because you wouldn't be able to see things that trigger memories...

Lawyers: Cosby has a degenerative eye condition

NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania (CNN) - Spending two days sitting in a Pennsylvania courtroom listening to lawyers argue over his blindness -- and with a criminal trial seven months away -- is likely the last place Bill Cosby imagined he would find himself at 79 years of age.

But that's where he was this week as a Montgomery County judge listened to lengthy pre-trial arguments on several key issues -- the outcome of which will significantly shape the famous comedian's upcoming trial.

Much has changed in Cosby's life since May of last year when he wrapped up his "Far From Finished" comedy tour. Not only does he now face three counts of aggravated indecent assault stemming from accusations made by a former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand, but his lawyers say he is blind, and that condition is severely hampering his defense.

Cosby has pleaded not guilty to all charges...

Lawyer: Cosby expects to be cleared and resume his career

By DENISE LAVOIE, AP

BOSTON (AP) — Bill Cosby expects to be cleared of a criminal sexual assault charge and restart his entertainment career, his lawyer argues in a defamation lawsuit filed against him by seven women.

Attorney Angela Agrusa is urging a judge to seal documents that contain information about Cosby's negotiated compensation for his performances and other personal financial information.

The women suing Cosby in federal court in Massachusetts argue that he has no future in show business and won't be hurt by disclosing that information.

But Agrusa, in a written response filed Thursday, called that claim "baseless." ...

He expects to resume his career but is too blind and feeble to withstand the trial itself (according to his own defense team).

Exactly my thought! I call bull@#$% on the blindness.

Gee, whiz, I thought their defense was "girls in Hollywood know this is what happens!"

Sad in so very many ways.

Cosby Fails Again in Bid to Get Sex Assault Case Tossed

by Hannah Rappleye and Tracy Connor

A Pennsylvania judge has once again refused to dismiss sexual assault charges against Bill Cosby — and also ruled that accusers who want to take the stand do not have to undergo competency hearings.

Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neil said he has not yet made a decision on another key matter: whether prosecutors can use a deposition Cosby gave in a civil case, in which he talked about giving women Qualuudes for sex, during the criminal trial.

Cosby is charged with drugging and molesting Andrea Constand at his Pennsylvania home in 2004 — the only criminal case stemming from dozens of claims of sexual misconduct that have surfaced in the last year and a half. He has denied any wrongdoing...

Another news report.....Cosby wants a plea deal....so what does everyone think will happen????

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-assault-trial-Temple-University-student.html

Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby is seeking a plea deal to avoid prison time for his alleged sex crimes, it has been reported.

'He and his family, including his wife, Camille, are adamant that Bill won’t be able to convince a jury to let him off,' a source close the family told the New York Post.

'Cosby and his family believe he’ll be eligible for a sentence of just probation — and remove the threat of him dying in prison,' the source told the newspaper.

The source added: 'They are hoping that the district attorney will feel as though he’s won with a plea deal and they’re thinking that the DA will consider Cosby’s age, his medical condition, the fact that he’s paid the victim on the case millions, and the fact that his career is over.'

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office declined to comment on a plea deal, the Post reported.

He paid the victim millions for her silence, that isn't justice.

Will Judge Let 13 Bill Cosby Accusers Testify Against Him?

by Hannah Rappleye and Tracy Connor

Bill Cosby will be back in a Pennsylvania courtroom Tuesday morning, hoping to convince a judge who has dealt him blow after blow that 13 sex-abuse accusers should not be allowed to testify at his upcoming trial.

Prosecutors say the women were drugged and molested by Cosby and that their accounts show a pattern of behavior. Cosby's attorneys have cast doubt on the women's memories and motivations.

It will be up to Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill to decide whether a jury gets to hear from the women, whose allegations span decades, after listening to arguments from both sides during a two-day hearing...
