Twitter is showing several MSN sources that say she was "removed from the vent" according to family.

Probably just another miscommunication from uninformed family.

1) she was removed from the ventilator and is breathing on her own.

2) she was removed from the ventilator as a step in withdrawing life support.

3) she wasn't removed from the ventilator, but was given trach

I'm in no way a Doctor. Yet doesn't a trach tube just replace the breathing tube only administered differently? In that event doesn't the tube still offer breathing support through the trach tube? Isn't removing the vent pulling the breathing support all together? Am I confused?

Whether she has a breathing tube coming out of her mouth, or a tracheostomy in her throat, both are connected to the ventilator, which is breathing for her.

BTW, you can have a trach without it hooked to the vent, but that is usually people who were once hooked to the vent and are recovering and keep the trach for a trial period in case of emergency.

Says trach was done Tuesday and it was because of complications from the breathing tube (MOO they left it in too long without converting to trach-- probably infected).

ETA: Nick "desperate" to see her? This could all fit with a let nature take its course scenario.

The vent will be removed and may be put back. I know that long term vents cause their own problems.
I think that basically this is a lets see what is going on event. It could be that even if she would code, or be in distress Bobby would want her revived again. We just don't know where he is.
