In December 2007, JA texts TA saying she is cleaning house for some guy. TA asks her if he is paying less to her than he he is. JA twists it, and TA asks why can't answer a simple question.

Then she says "he's paying me the same". OMG she would drive me crazy too. Total manipulation.

I'm trying to remember all the other guys she was dating. Steve Garcia, Lonnie, Abe A, and a few others, and this is in February 2008 when they just became a "couple". In spite of her and other guy, she starts calling Travis hon, sweetie and sweetheart and it increases from then on. Also in the text Travis gets one from someone and they mention t shirt business. Sky and Chris H. said Travis was going to start up a t shirt business. IIRC the front had his name and the back his website.

He writes mockingly about the stupidity of the ninja lie, and of speaking to her about it??

That really does seem like it crosses the line into a violation of attorney- client privilege. Minor? Batcall to AZL?

He does despise her, right? And he despises her more than he wants to dirty up JM, right? And he despises her more than he'd love to be proven a wunderlawyer by winning her a new trial because of the unprecedented publicity which deprived her of a fair trial and which is evidenced still by the vehement reaction to his book. Right?

I remember Samuels testified on the stand that He and Nurmi talked to CMJA about her story and got her to tell the TRUTH about what REALLY happened. She was afraid and wanted to protect TA. LOL

My favorite part is the 2 second pause by JSS after Jen finished babbling about her client's remorse that the killer herself didn't bother to lie about, as she had been so thoroughly occupied gathering herself up, tongue flicking like a snake about to strike, to smite Samantha with her words that oh yes, Travis was alive and aware right before I slit his throat, JSS allowing herself one slow blink as she heard that, silent while everyone else in the courtroom gasped, her own moment to strike coming later, after those brief seconds after Jenny, asking- is there any legal reason why I can't just go ahead and rule right now? Two no's later, she sped through her lists and only minutes later, after 7 agonizingly long years, her ruling of life until you die in prison said with what could have been mistaken for indifference, but I think instead expressed exquisite contempt...go, be gone, you don't deserve a single additional second of my time.
Her matter-of-fact demeanor probably drove the killer nuts. Sending her off to lifelong incarceration with the same calm one would have reading the morning paper and sipping coffee. In that instant JSS reduced her entire defense, her media blitz, and her elaborate edifice of artful lies, to Absolute Zero. She made her, in that moment, what she spent a lifetime making sure, and assuring herself, that she was not: completely ineffective, in the moment, and completely irrelevant henceforward.

Dragging in some more:

Actually Nurmi does write that he didn't believe TA was pedo or self-defense. Had 2 go with client's wishes by law

"..4 whatever reason #jodiarias informed me of the current state of her vaginal grooming...she went too far."

Nurmi says he received lots of pro #jodiarias letters, mostly conspiracy & Mormons did it. He plans to publish them eventually

#jodiarias would cry & moan when Nurmi wouldn't do what she wanted & said he can imagine how she got away with it w/parents.

(in response to question about the scams Nurmi&JM listened to) Mostly scamming pervs out of money, making them think they're her only love.

Hearing #jodiarias phone calls led the DT 2 go 2 LV (behind her back) to interview a suitor for possible evidence they hid. Think he was #1

I THINK LV guy (living w/mama) was guy who helped #jodiarias w/fake letters. He gave up whatever he had but no use 2 her defense

What exactly is he talking about. I posted earlier about her acting as her own lawyer in Aug of 2011 and at that time giving the letters to some witness but I was wrong. The letters were already written and the evidentiary hearing in Aug 8, 9, & 15 were about those letters. She wrote that note in the magazines to give to one of the witnesses that was to testify in the August hearing BEFORE he testified. I think it was Matt. When acting as her own lawyer she was allowed by the court to talk to two witnesses on the phone and then tell the court if the witnesses needed to be present to testify. (???)

There was also a prisoner named Heather Nitterauer that testified at this hearing, then was escorted back to the DOC, a number of other witnesses testified, at the hearing 8/8/2011 and 8/9/2011 The hearing concluded on 8/15/2011 and CMJA asked the court to reinstate Nurmi and Washington as her attorneys. Also the Court granted the states motion to preclude the letters. The defense withdrew their objection to the states motion to preclude the letters.

Lastly the state agreed to preclude them from arguing the defendants Pro Per Status (her acting as her own attorney) I don't get that part. Except the jury might suspect, just like me, that she used this time to do nefarious deeds. I hope Nurmi tells about that time.

I agree that if he's in legal trouble he can't really turn this book in stapled to a brief. But I do think he is bothered by the "taint" in the court of public opinion. I was surprised by his tweets about being a victim of fat shaming and internet bullying. I have to admit that "what a wiener" popped into my head when I read his victim comments.

I think you're right. Remember when he complained directly to the COA (justifying closed court) about meanies saying mean things online about the DT (the COA told him its part of the job and to suck it up).

He IS thin skinned, and the more I think about it the more I think this is about his almost pathological dislike and envy of JM (trying to steal his thunder about promised reveal of who the killer really is), and a spiteful smack down of a client who had the gall to undermine him and the case he wanted to present.

ETA...Nurmi needs to concede defeat. He self publishes a rant about his ex-client and is getting slammed on SM, JM has a real publisher, a large # of preorders and will be taking 2 months off for a national book signing tour. LOL.

He very well may, as he might not be under the same attorney-client restrictions during that period. Just the sort of opportunity he would take advantage of, in keeping with the apparent agenda of this book so far.

Does anyone remember when Shapiro, one of OJ's lawyers, after the acquittal, stated he thought OJ was guilty? He was trying to ward off the bad publicity he was getting for helping to get OJ acquitted. I thought at the time that he was violating his lawyer/client privilege. I know Alan Dershowitz was very vocal about it. He thought Shapiro should be sanctioned by the CA Bar. Nurmi sounds like he was worse than Shapiro.

samspace070 Those last two lines are the poster talking, not quoting Nurmi. She's guessing this LasVegas trip may have been about the letters, but it's not clear to me that Nurmi was linking the two things. I do remember JA writing about being upset about some secret trip Nurmi made to talk to a pen pal - now we hear this trip came about b/c of a phone conversation Nurmi listened to. Says it was about "hidden evidence". I'm really wondering if this guy could have known JA before the murder, or is it just one of her lovelorn fans?

I actually hope Gilmour Girl tells us more about this "hidden evidence" and the LV guy. I just wonder what else she got away with while she was in that jail for six years. Also I want to know what is under seal.

She complained bitterly about that trip in her 12 page letter demanding that Nurmi be fired. The context she uses is that Nurmi wasn't actively investigating REAL leads or rustling up all those many folks who could be character witnesses, that instead he was wasting his time going behind her back to track down a penpal (says we are both just so confused about why) and instructing the rest of the DT to lie to her about it.

BTW, isn't anyone else wondering what MDLR really thought of her, given she had access to all this info and likey much much more?

I am so glad my son talked me into buying this Smart TV, because I can watch YouTube videos about the trial while posting on the computer and reading. Took me a while to figure it all out but I have it now. LOL Don't want to get too old to keep up with new technology. I think CMJA was very tech savvy especially with phones and camera's and transferring photos. What she did to TA was criminal.

MDLR could be in some hot water that we haven't heard about yet. But I definitely think she helped CMJA smuggle things out of that jail. That crap about those pics being evidence for trial is bull. She was selling those pics and needed to get them out of the jail.

July 8 and Sep 17, 2009 - Mark Stanoch (ABC) visits JA
July 2011 - JM interviewed MM
Aug 4, 2011- JA tried to pass megazines with coded message
Aug 8, 9, 15, 2011 - Hearings PARTLY dealing with pedo allegation

Coded message:
Mark Stanoch 520-256-1178 (ABC)
You *advertiser censored*** up. What you told my attorney next day directly contradicts what I've been saying for over a year. Get down here ASAP and see me before you talked to them again and before you testify so we can fix this. Interview was excellent. Must talk ASAP.

What is JA really trying to fix? I believe the secret message was indeed for MM but not about the pedo allegation or the fake letter. If you read the message very carefully, JA wanted to fix something MM told HER ATTORNEY, not JM. She wanted to cook somthing up with MM unbeknownst to her own attorney. And it has something to do with her interview with Mark Stanoch, because she mentions it was excellent. When she says 'what you told my attorney next day', what does she mean by it? Next day to which event? Did Matt talk to her attorney the next day she interviewed with Stanoch in July/Sep 2009 when she was still claiming the Ninja story?
At any rate, I don't believe MM wrote the fake pedo letter, because if he did, MM would be in sync with JA's new story in Aug 2011 and he clearly was not.

Me too, because I thought she "saw him masturbating to an image (either digital or not digital, JA could get that right); then he got mad at her and wrestled her to the ground"?

I think she might have got the masturbating thread (to be clear, no photo or child involved) from when she walked in on him the day of the murder. She often cuts and pastes details and incidents (so she can remember details when she's lying).

With TA, she manipulates always on tiny and irrelevant details. Almost anything he says, evidently. She tries to extend every little conversational "transaction" with him to give herself more stake in his life. But TA only interacts with her on minutiae, not the important things in his life.

Also, the "payment" may be money and sex. TA is aware JA has to have her jollies.

The Las Vegas trip in 2012 mentioned by Nurmi couldn't have been about the pedo letters, but it must have been about something pretty significant.

The killer wrote in her fire Nurmi letter that Nurmi AND Willmott went there, as did the DT's investigator, Bud Barton. Not only did they not go there at her instigation, they apparently went without her knowledge.

The killer says that this trip was "the beginning of the end" of their relationship and her ability to trust him. Translating liar- speak, I'm guessing that whatever Nurmi & all uncovered that trip about her "pen pal" made him trust the killer even less.

Its obvious from her letter that years later, she was still peeved at him for the trip.

Witness tampering perhaps?

Do you have that piece of the court tape? It isn't in the clip above.

JSS did have her moments of genius and drama. Another favorite was when Jodi refused to allocute, and JSS asked her a) if she was taking her meds and b) if she was nuts (or something similar). Whichever one JA picked, it was going to be a bad answer. For instance, if she said no to a), she was out of compliance of her own doing, because she was supposed to be on meds and these can make you think straight and/or she's out of touch with what a psychopath she is; if she said yes to a) she's potentially not thinking quite straight because some meds can sometimes dull your senses or alternately, she was thinking extremely straight because the meds had cleared her mind, in which case she'd look just plain arrogant cray cray.

I'm not sure JSS prepared these questions. I think she was just on top of her game and being astute.

It was important to get her state of mind on record at that time. JSS was for the most part extremely professional and calmer in the face of events than I am capable of. Some of her decisions were extreme and made little sense in the broader context of the law, but she certainly came through in the end.
