EPA Whistleblower Accuses Agency of Covering Up Effects of Dispersant in BP Oil Spill Cleanup
With BP having poured nearly two million gallons of the dispersant known as Corexit into the Gulf of Mexico, many lawmakers and advocacy groups say the Obama administration is not being candid about the lethal effects of dispersants. We speak with Hugh Kaufman, a senior policy analyst at the EPA's Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response and a leading critic of the decision to use Corexit.

Tropical Storm Bonnie threatens the Gulf Oil Spill. Oh boy if this hits the coast what a mess:

Some experts worry this could worsen environmental damage from the spill, with powerful winds and large waves pushing oil deeper into estuaries and wetlands and also depositing more of the pungent, sticky mess on beaches.

This is why some of the executives from BP should spend time behind bars, these peoples mindset is that money fixes everything and when the money runs out oh well. I say put them behind bars and let their freedom run out.

BP came under fresh attack last night amid accusations that it had ignored internal safety reports of a leak on the Deepwater Horizon rig and had not used industry best practice for avoiding oil spills.

Two managers from BP PLC have been named as subjects of a federal investigation into the explosion and sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. The two men are the first individuals from BP to be named "parties in interest" in the case, indicating that they are potential targets of the probe.

The real victims here the families of the 11 lost men:

In hearings Thursday, Natalie Roshto said her husband, Shane, who died on the rig, was particularly worried. "From day one he deemed this hole a well from hell," said Ms. Roshto, who is suing Transocean for the wrongful death of her husband. "He said Mother Nature just doesn't want to be drilled here."

The drum connects our heart to the heart beat of Mother Earth...

There was a time when man took no more
than he needed
That time is gone...
There was a time when he gave something back
That time is gone...
There was a time when he worshipped the Creator
And honored Creation
That time too is gone...
And now the waters are polluted
Our natural resources are all but gone
And creation is dying...
It's time...
To find our way back to the Earth.

It seems incomprehensible that the president and other members of the administration still have jobs when it is now being reported that the federal government was apprised by BP on February 13 that the Deepwater Horizon oil rig was leaking oil and natural gas into the ocean floor.

In fact, according to documents in the administration’s possession, BP was fighting large cracks at the base of the well for roughly ten days in early February.

Further it seems the administration was also informed about this development, six weeks before to the rig’s fatal explosion when an engineer from the University of California, Berkeley, announced to the world a near miss of an explosion on the rig by stating, “They damn near blew up the rig.”

It’s also now being reported that BP was asking for the administration’s help on this matter long before the deadly accident and the now gushing well of tar.

Which leads me to some questions for the president. If I were in front row of reporters in the White House briefing room, here’s what I’d like to know:

1. It appears, Mr. President, that you were informed by BP about problems on Deepwater Horizon on February 13 and the company wanted your help. What did you say?

2. Given this new revelation, Mr. President, how can you can sleep at night knowing that your inaction cost the lives of eleven men in Louisiana?

3. Did you inform the victims’ families about these facts when you invited them to the White House for last month’s photo op?

4. You’ve said, Mr. President, time and again, that the buck stops with you. Doesn’t that statement seem like something bordering on propaganda when you follow it up with what appears to be a false sense of outrage by telling Matt Lauer that you’re looking for rear ends to kick?

5. Does the buck stop with you… or not?

6. Are you going to insist that Mr. Salazar step down from his post in disgrace and shame?

7. Will you hold another prime time television press conference and tell the entire truth to the American people? — These would be the actions of a man who says that the buck “stops” with him.

8. I know when this news was breaking midday on Saturday about the latest BP developments that you and the Vice President were out on the golf course. Was it 39th or 40th time you’ve played a round in 18 months? (Just for a point of reference President Bush played golf 24 times in eight years.) Never mind, your priorities are for you to decide. At least until election night…

That was absolutely beautiful essies, thanks for finding that. Native American I presume , I'm Native American so it touches my heart in a special way.

If it is true that the world may have "peaked" in oil production-then riskier and riskier methods will be used to produce what has become the worlds (at least the western world) life blood. And since oil is non-renewable we will be keep on getting mis-information and coverups so that they can continue in their efforts. God help us all!! IMO
I have heard, and if you can believe Wayne Madsen, the oil found where Deep Water Horizon was drilling supposedly had an oil field (cavern) that was the size of "mt Everest".

Obama Administration Knew About Deepwater Horizon 35,000 Feet Well Bore
During the September drilling operations, the Deepwater Horizon drill penetrated a massive undersea oil deposit but BP's priorities changed when the Macondo site in the Mississippi Canyon off the coast of Louisiana was found to contain some 3-4 billion barrels of oil in an underground cavern estimated to be about the size of Mount Everest. It was as a result of another 35,000 feet well bore sank by the Deepwater Horizon at the Macondo site that the catastrophic explosion occurred on April 20.

Somebody quick invent Jurassic Park we need dinosaurs pronto. Seriously though the technology for solar, wind and natural gas is possible. We have proven that cities and cars can run without oil or at least limited oil. We just have to make that change.

Follow the link, read and weep:

Week 28 From 07/11/2010 – To 07/17/2010

In Louisiana, there have been 290 reports* of health complaints believed to be related to exposure to pollutants from the
oil spill. Two hundred sixteen (216) reports came from workers and 74 from the general population (see limitations of
these data explained on page 2). Most frequently reported symptoms among workers include headache, dizziness,
nausea, vomiting, weakness/fatigue and upper respiratory irritation.

Is the Rigel gas field flowing IN to BP’s blown-out well?

Experts say that the open annulus could be how [a methane bubble] that destroyed the Deepwater Horizon got to the surface.” - Times Picayune

The nearby Rigel gas deposits are at a similar depth to the compromised section of BP’s Macondo well.

Floridaoilspilllaw.com was the first outlet, and ultimately one of only a handful, that reported on Congressman Markey’s June 23 letter to BP questioning if hydrocarbons may also be rushing IN to the damaged casing, instead of pouring out. His questions were revealing, and now more relevant than ever:

Are there significant deposits of oil and gas in formations above the target reservoir?

The gist that I'm getting is that the drilling from these wells (possibly drilled too close together) has compromised not only the wells but the sea floor! You might be able to fix a well-but how do you fix the sea floor?:banghead:

Gas Hydrate in the Northern Gulf of Mexico Has Puzzling Characteristics and Could Pose a Hazard to Deep Drilling
By Debbie Hutchinson and Pat Hart
July 2003
<snipped>
http://soundwaves.usgs.gov/2003/07/fieldwork.html
As drilling in the Gulf of Mexico has progressed from shallow-water shelf depths (less than 200 m) to deep-water slope depths (more than 1,000 m), wells have come to penetrate the gas-hydrate-stability zone.

Because drilling can bring warm fluids up from depth, potentially melting the shallower gas hydrate, many researchers and engineers anticipate that drilling through gas hydrate may pose a hazard to the stability of the well, the platform anchors, the tethers, or even entire platforms.

If you notice the date(2003)-it is hard IMO to believe that whoever was behind the decision making power in BP did not have access to this kind of information also. IMO I believe their decisions were made without safety factoring in. Not just safety for their men on the rig-but safety of the gulf, it's inhabitants, the states surrounding the gulf and ultimately the world.:furious:
