Well, sorry, cynpat! This is what you said and I just responded, the post before yours above reported the herpes and you said, "Oh that nasty *advertiser censored*." I didn't mean to belittle you and of course, we all have our opinions. We don't disagree on the *advertiser censored* factor - it's just that people really react to the word "herpes" and it's so common - I am glad you don't think one means the other, i.e. herpes = *advertiser censored*. And no, one can never get rid of it and it can be spread with no symptoms, even in cases where someone has never been symptomatic. This is why I can't equate it with morality or even intelligence - hard to prevent getting something when the person giving it to you doesn't even know he/she has it.

Sorry! :truce: Truly.

Eve
Thats ok. I can honestly see where my post could have gotten misunderstood . I apologize for being so defensive to both you and Kato.:truce:

Thanks, no problemo. I'm sorry too. I could have said what you did - after all, she is a *advertiser censored*! :D LOL! The herpes virus itself is probably regretting being "there!"

Honestly, I think all of this is a shame...

Being 20 years old, I was part of that wave of guys who drooled over Britney during my early teen years. What attracted me to her was the fact she seemed like a good all-American girl who was also pretty cute. Note the word "good" there. Even if the quality of her singing voice wasn't the highest (if you use someone like Kirsty Hawkshaw as a benchmark...you know, a singer who can SING), I found her songs sort of catchy and being a middle schooler when they came out I could sort of relate to them, as they were something that my female friends could have just as easily sung about their lives. I even thought her cover of "I can't get no satisfaction" was pretty good, and I'm a fan of the Stones.

But then Brit turned nasty, almost overnight. It seemed to be about 2002-2003 or so. Her ideas, in particular--gone are the "good girl" images, now it's all about competing with Paris Hilton (who I've never liked) for being the "baddest girl". And her singing still hasn't improved that much. I thought that perhaps being young she'd eventually get better but no. (Singers do sound different when young--ever hear a 1939-1940 recording of Frank Sinatra and compare it to a mid-1940s or a Bing Crosby from 1931-1932 versus a more modern one?)

I think Brit needs to somehow turn her life around and go back to what worked for her in 1999-2000. You can even look at the attitudes of today's middle school kids versus what we thought back in the day.

I agree. There are much more compelling reasons to call her a *advertiser censored*.
Absolutely , you always put a smile on my face. :)

I wanted to tell you that I have just downloaded Slow Turning... John Hiatt

I have 'Have a little faith in me' but had forgotten about Slow Turning, so Thanks Heaps for the reminder... Love that song, am listening to it now.

OT but I'm reading a book about Bing Crosby and what a mean, callous and uncaring man. His personal life was not the image he portrayed to the world.

Wasn't Bing meaner or more uncaring to his first set of children? Didn't he do better with his second set by his much younger second wife?

I agree that oftentimes it is the marketing machine that creates an image of a celebrity to make them more marketable. I suspect this happens in a majority of cases.

I don't believe Britney changed. She may have just quite hiding her true self.

Yes, he was meaner to his 1st family. I haven't gotten to the part of his 2nd family yet. With Dixie Lee he had 4 sons. When they turned 18 he packed their crap and booted them out. A couple of them got divorced and he never forgave them for that. What a hypocrite. He claimed it was his Catholicism but it sure didn't keep him from messing around. I wonder what he would have done if Dixie hadn't died from cancer. Sorry, OT.

Whatever it takes to win, I guess. Someone had to do it.
--- you are the greatest--- you sit back, wait--- then strike--- !!!!!

all with so few words !!!!!!!!!! :D

I don't think there is any "going back" for Britney. She will never be the young girl that she was and she has certainly not done herself any favors in these past few weeks of "overexposure'. The woman must have some talent or she would not have made it as far as she has. What she does with her talent and her future life remains to be seen.

But, going back to what she "was"? I don't think so.

She has name recognition and she can dance? She could have a stage show in Las Vegs. Would I pay $100 to see her perform? No, but people of her generation might.

Wow , I hope shes ok.
Wonder what happened , the article really doesnt say.

Nah, HER people say new-mom Brit just fell asleep. Sure.

Spears Falls Asleep in Vegas Nightclub

LAS VEGAS -- Britney Spears finally appears to be acting like a new mom. The pop princess, who recently made headlines for a rash of less-than-motherly hard partying, fell asleep in a Las Vegas nightclub early Monday shortly after leading the New Year's Eve countdown, her manager said.

"By about one o'clock, she was just done, so we took her out," Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph, told The Associated Press Monday. "She was not drunk. She was just tired and falling asleep." Link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy....html?nav=rss_artsandliving/entertainmentnews

Yeah. Right. 25 years old and she is "just tired and falling asleep" at 1:00 AM on New Year's Eve? Who is kidding whom here?

I could by the "just falling asleep" excuse if she was a normal mom who took care of her kids. I really doubt Brit stays up nights and rises at 6 am to tend to the kids.

It's a very common virus. Lots of people have sex. Some people have the virus. Sex spreads the virus, which is a nuisance, but not life-threatening. I think Paris is a bimbo but to call her a *advertiser censored* because (if) she has herpes is unevolved, imo. I know one divorcee (a friend of mine  ) who got it during her first relationship after divorce - after being monogomous for 15 years. She's no *advertiser censored* and loved the guy. Maybe she was naive. But it's just a stupid virus. It doesn't necessarily make someone promiscuous.

Eve

You are right that it is very common. I have read that 1 in 5 adults in the US have genital herpes. You are also correct that having it does not make someone promiscuous.

I doubt it, too. If she does, she wouldn't be out partying all the time.

Brit better take care of herself. I cant help but think of River Phoenix when I read this about her.
