The YouTube account has now been removed but Skipperkey posted a link to the twitter account further up the thread

Thanks. It looks like both Instagram and YouTube have been taken down before I could see them. Twitter doesn't have much on there.

I find this a little confusing. She knew about YouTube, Twitter and Instagram and how to set them up and use them. Looking at the Twitter, she seemed to be familiar with many pop stars as well.

Its not confusing to me. This is the child who had the wherewithal and courage to finally escape. It makes sense that she also figured out some things about the world and how it works. I hope it gave her some moments of joy.

Now the question is?

In such a controlled environment, how did she get Internet access?

Satch

I don't know how controlled it was 24/7. It seems kind of chaotic and hoarder like. Some things like food and public appearances were IMO definitely controlled. Since there as evidence of being chained and constrained, they were physically being controlled at times. And then the marching and such. But what if they weren't chained all the time? The parents had to sleep, work even if from home, leave the house for food, etc. They *might* have had moments where they tried to give them some education and real world experience in a very bumbling way. (Some of them. IMO, there are probably some children that have not.) Or, they were finding ways to do this without the parents knowledge. What the parents have done to them is horrible, depraved, and criminal. It should not be minimized. But, it's possible they weren't monsters ALL the time. What if they had moments where they tried to do something right? I have a feeling the psychology of this is going to be incredibly deep and complicated. No doubt, the parents should be in jail and have done despicable, horrifically traumatic things to these kids. I just don't think we should assume it was 24 hours a day , every day. There could have been "normal" moments mixed into to all this. Abuse often happens in waves.

OR, this child just had unbelievable fortitude and was going to learn about the world at all costs. She was incredibly brave. She simply could have made it her mission to know something besides what she was being given.

So did Shawn Hornbeck. That doesn't mean she wasnot controlled or isolated or abused.

Also in these families some are tormented more than others.

I trust the hospital officials and the DA.

Agreed. Sometimes I feel some people need things to be completely black and white in order to understand or believe something. But few things are that black and white.

I was thinking the same thing. This is the same girl who managed to escape, so she obviously was a little different than the rest. She didn't seem to be as "brainwashed" as the others.

I bet, like someone else said, either LT or DT got a new phone and just left this one lying around and she started using it. I also agree that, as someone else said, there were probably different levels of abuse. I think the oldest daughter probably got a lot of abuse, based on how thin and sickly she always looks, and also the middle son. The oldest son, on the other hand, was probably a favored one, since he has glasses and got to go to college.

Here's another sick thought. Maybe the phone was a "reward" for being the subject of the lewd acts?!?

And I'm sure the house had internet since DT was an engineer and most houses have it nowadays.

Asked if the Turpins realize the severity of what they’ve been charged with, Flores told Good Morning Britain, “I don’t think Louise does. I think David is starting to realize.”

“David was broken. He knew that he had messed up and he was broken.”

“We went and saw David and he was just sobbing,” added Andreassen. “He would sob, like his shoulders would shake up and down.”

“I said ‘I don’t know all the things you’ve done,’ and he said, ‘It will come out.’ ”

I agree with you there. It's just a bit confusing because all she had on her was a de-activated phone with photographic (or video?) evidence. Before this there has been no indication that they weren't kept pretty much in isolation. So I never would have thought that they would have had any access to or exposure to social media. I wonder if she used an alias in an attempt to keep that knowledge from her parents.

Sounds to me like there's a lot more that he thinks / fears will be exposed.

I'm still a little skeptical that it is her but one thing I did notice was on the Twitter account, there are no real friends on there. Now a teenager these days would usually be following tons of friends, acquaintances, etc. The girl on this twitter feed mainly follows only Justin Beiber fan accounts. That does stick out to me like a sore thumb.

In the dog video it sounds like a smoke detector keeps beeping that needs batteries (just an observation)

Sure,

But that video was made before all this horror came to light. She's in the Turpin home with the dogs and filthy clothes.

Is this a clever act by LT setting herself up for an insanity defense or is she really this far gone?

The sister of alleged house of horrors mom Louise Turpin has described her sibling as “living in a la-la land” and says the suspected child abuser believes “she didn’t do nothing wrong

Speaking to Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Elizabeth Flores alleges that Turpin is so disconnected from reality that she thinks she’s “going to get out and we’re going to play board games again,” like the pair did as children.

I googled the 17 year old's youtube alias and there are some screen shots of the vids on google images.

I'm so confused. She doesn't look 10 or whatever the news was saying, she looks her age and healthy.

Doesn't instagram only let you post pics from the app? If so, that means she had access to a cellphone for a while. I'm wondering why she didn't call 911 from inside the house earlier instead of escaping outside first.

I have felt from day one that a lot of the media coverage of this case has been sensationalistic and misleading, right from that first headline about "13 Shackled Children Rescued".

How old was her Instagram account? By the time I found it, all of the posts were deleted. I did notice though that a lot of her followers seem to be from the Middle East, so I doubt she knew any of her followers IRL. Did anyone here see any of the posts on the Instagram account before they were deleted?

In regards to why she didn’t call 911 from inside the house. Maybe there was a last straw... meaning something significant happened or was threatened to happen in the upcoming days. And she knew it was now or never, and was too scared to call from inside the house. Idk, just a thought.

Also, who and how figured out this was her YouTube account? Unless it was leaked from someone close to the case, the odds of someone finding that account and linking it to her seem like 1 in a million. Are we even sure it’s really her?
