I don't really see how this shooting is different than all the other past shootings but people are treating it like is. It's like people are desensitized to white men shooting up places, but when a Muslim does it, even if he was a disgruntled employee, there's all this talk about Isis and terrorism.

It is tho, unusual .for the FBI/ATF to be involved so quickly

By the second presser the head of the second largest FBI branch is presenting is signfigant -- so confusing

But think about it ,media thinks they know motive in Colorado, but nothing has been heard , or really confirmed ,after that day in court .....

The reason for that is that white men didn't commit a massacre in Paris, bomb a plane full of Russian tourists and murder dozens of tourists on a Tunisian beach all in the last few months. Not to mention the bombs in Turkey, Lebanon, and the seven attempted bombing attacks in London in the same time frame.

So, sorry if I'm a big wacist for thinking that this Syed Farook character isn't a disgruntled white male.

The CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) just put out a statement condemning the shooting. There must be a reason for this. They don't come out and condemn anything unless something will be linked back to their religion. Not saying this wasn't work related as well. JMO

Just because the killer is a Muslim, it doesn't mean he is part of Isis. I find it perplexing how so many are in denial that this could be a case of disgruntled employee.

Would a disgruntled employee wear body armor and have accomplices?

It's not. we just have some mighty impressive double standards. The thing is we have had so many mass shootings and how many had been Muslim terrorists? Most of the evidence here makes it sound like a workplace dispute. What doesn't track with that is the amount of weapons involved and if it turns out to be more than 2 people involved. I've never heard of a case of someone working a job long term and suddenly turning into a terrorist and leading an attack on it. The quote I posted mentioned management problems which I suspect contributed here. I am still very confused but I have seen no evidence ISIS is involved here.

Yes sure. Disgruntled employees always bring female accomplices along, and they always tend to be devout muslims too.

Do we know for sure this guy is a devout muslim? I haven't read that from anything reliable. And even if he is...plenty of devout muslims don't go around shooting people.

Yeah...this thread is driving me a bit crazy right now. A white guy shoots a place up a few days earlier and everyone here is all "oh...he must have an untreated mental illness" blah blah blah. And this guy with an ethnic sounding name shoots people and everyone screams ISIS! And some make some incredibly xenophobic comments.

Obviously this shooting is different in some ways because this was multiple people and weapons. But that doesn't 100% point to ISIS or whatever. It could still be a disgruntled employee. I don't know why people can't just wait and see what info is released and be open to many different scenarios right now.

Yeah, but aside from 9/11 the worst terrorist attack on US soil was committed by a disgruntled white male. So there's that.

ETA: who had accomplices.

And just when I thought this could not hit closer to home, I located the alleged shooter's address in Corona, where I spent my formative years [ages 5-20] and it was a block from my dad's office [he is a doctor] and 3ish miles from where my family's home is. I hope there are not others in the area, and this is not some part of a larger cell. I'm still not certain it's terrorism in the way most view it [though I studied Terrorism and Genocide at USC as an International Relations major] it is terrorism by the broad definition.

Terrorism, simply put is violence committed with the intention of causing terror.

Whether it's a nutjob with some problem with the government or an ISIS "franchisee", this person/people have managed to incite terror.

I've been so excited because I am spending Christmas with my family this year and I haven't seen my dad in 5 years, and the rest for 3 years. I'm just hoping I get to see them before the damned country explodes.

Huh? The named suspect is a Muslim. Of course they are going to respond. They have done so in the past when Muslims are accused of terrible crimes because stupid people take it as confirmation that all Muslims are killers and terrorists.

The last PC... an hour ago or so... FBI was leaning more towards terrorism imo. He said they were going down that road.

You do realize that non-white people can be disgruntled employees too though, right?

If the FB account linked is actually his I don't see anything screaming "devout Muslim!" Far from it.

Yeah...either that is NOT the shooter. Or if it is, then he isn't muslim. At least not based on the traditional outfits women in his family were wearing.

Love your username, btw. Yeah, I think it's time for me to go before I get really upset.

I neither know nor care about the skin colour of disgruntled employees. What we're talking about here is ideology, not colour.
