New Police Update ….

This evening, Jesus Manuel Salgado, the suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Aroohi Dheri, Jasleen Kaur, Jasdeep Singh, and Amandeep Singh, was booked into the Merced County Jail. He was arrested for four counts of murder and four counts of kidnapping. Our Detectives, alongside investigators from assisting agencies, will continue to follow up on any leads of additional people who may have been involved in this horrific incident.

This is the face of pure evil. Honestly he makes me sick to my stomach. MOO

I fear that's what happened. He was going to exact his demented revenge on the men, then decided to leave no witnesses, so he circled back.

He IS the face of evil.

Machete.

It's terroristic.

I cry for all of it.

JMO
Yes agree…

Authorities believe all four family members were in the truck at the same time. But they are not sure what happened between the six minutes before the child and mother were put into the truck.

Crime is everywhere the fact it was more than one individual that held you and your friends up is concerning in he sense that it was a joint decision made on thier parts to do this. Would they have been caught? IDK soemtimes IMO its the stick together mentality like a gang that accepts the crime and says its ok, they are foriegners or make some toher excuse to justify it. Its that mentality that covers the criminality. Nothing was going to happen to them. MOO. That is why crime happens because people make excuses to justify it. Often times the perps and sometimes others who don't want it to reflect badly on hmeselves, so hush hush its under the rug. But that's the difference between honesty and not. Its a crazy world out there.
Very true. There is actually a lot more to the story that I won't get in to. We did something stupid that put us in a vulnerable position in an isolated rural area. It was not partying or anything of the sort, just has made me think things through and consider my situation and potential consequences since then and I think that has benefited my life in a variety of ways.

yes i am from India only and usually girls who are Sikh usually have their last name as "Kaur" and boys/men don't.
As someone from India who would have much better cultural context than I, I would be interested in your comments on how I characterized Sikhism above, even if you say I am totally full of it. Not trying to hijack the thread, just trying to process my hypotheses on possible motives. While I realize people of any religion and no religion can be evil and do evil things, Sikhs seem especially unlikely to have gotten themselves mixed up with anything that might have made them targets of violence beyond racial violence which I do not think is the case here since they did not wear turbans or otherwise resemble the types of people so many idiots in this country have targeted recently because of their race or religion.

A source close to the investigation told KTVU that the two brothers were killed with a machete. The source said Kaur was then shot as she held her baby girl in her arms. The baby was then left to die.

Sheriff's officials said they believed the family was killed before their relatives reported them missing Monday.

WHAT?! I'm shocked, wasn't expecting the use of that type of weapon. Is this guy a terrorist? I mean who has a machete at their disposal, let alone would think of using it in lieu of a firearm?

... Sheriff Warnke said he believes that Salgado planned on killing the family from the beginning.

“They’re going to have lifelong suffering from this. The father of the two men flew in from India this morning. He’s here,” said Sheriff Warnke. “They want justice. He lost two sons.”

For all the posts asking why the suspect returned to kill the woman and child, I would suggest that it’s because he clearly learned, from the outcome of his previous violent home invasion and robbery, the importance of leaving no living witnesses behind to ID him. So rather than take the chance he’d have to return to prison, he executed three innocent adults and one innocent baby. “Cowardly” is too soft a word to describe this behavior.
Not that I expect criminals to think or act rationally, if he was there for money, as someone said, all he had to do was point the gun at the baby and he would have had every penny they had access to. Instead he took the men, drove off then came back for mom and baby. That was an incredibly risky plan.

It appears to me they were targeted but I cannot figure out why. The killer showed up with a bag of recyclables as a ruse it seems. If he was playing on knowledge Sikhs would go out of their way to help the downtrodden then that would imply he knew who they were. Frankly, if someone showed up at my door with a bag of recyclables looking for more, I don't think my first inclination would be to invite them in.

Really sitting on my hands.

Very difficult not to put thoughts into words.

Machete's are common on farms. I have several and I only have a casual "farm." They are one of the fastest and easiest ways to quickly deal with small debris. But they dull fairly quickly so having a few makes for faster work. In central America they are used in gang murders and to intimidate.

I've got this idea floating around in my head that they were targeted for some reason by a gang, possibly for opening a business in gang territory and not paying for protection. Or possibly trampling on some trucking syndicates. Jimmy Hoffa was head of the teamsters (truckers) union!

Killing with a machete could be slow or quick. A sharp one to the neck could decapitate. Repeated blows to fleshy/bony parts like arms and calves could be painful and used to extract information. If we get to see the autopsy report it could be very illuminating.

It seems mom was shot but he could not bring himself to shoot the baby. So he either got info he needed from the men or was just cleaning up a loose end with mom.

Hard to even think Jesus is in any way a decent guy. But one thought may be that he was hired to terrorize, kill, or get info from the men then could not live with himself for killing a woman and her baby when things went wrong. That would explain the suicide attempt.

The suspect in the kidnapping and killing of an 8-month-old baby, as well as her parents and uncle, had once worked for the family’s trucking business and had a longstanding feud with them that culminated in an act of “pure evil,” a sheriff said Thursday.

The feud with Salgado dated back a year, the sheriff said, and “got pretty nasty” in text messages or emails.
Other details about Salgado’s employment and the nature of the dispute were not immediately available.

I wonder if he may have picked someone else up in those six minutes realizing he needed help with four people, the pick up was already planned, or for some other unknown reason. Just a thought. IMO. I also said I’d quit reading here after learning about the baby and now learning this, I really wish I had. Pure evil. Prayers for this family to somehow get through this.

I dont know.

Some small businesses probably do so routinely. Others maybe turned off by having to do the convoluted process to get free access to the records at the Court house. Still others may not like the yearly subscription fee for the private data bases or find going to private detectives to be too costly at California rates.
I don't think I would believe the private databases actually. I have undergone at least 2 background checks in my life, one for a top secret clearance that went back to birth in terms of addresses and employers, and another by my current employer who used a company that accessed a private database. During the process I was called by the investigator and accused of failing to report employment at a bar in Key West and told my deciet would be reported to my potential employer. I was 12 during the dates of my alledged employment. I told them they were wrong and asked for proof. They refused. I asked how many 12 year olds work in bars. No answer. So I told the guy I would sue because his information was demonstrably wrong. He said I could not sue because I had signed a waiver with my potential employer. I just laughed. I informed him I had signed no waiver, not sure who's mistake that was actually but the company was in serious trouble.

I told him he had 2 hours to get a supervisor to call me to apologize and 4 hours to present a clear background report to my potential employer. He was stunned, speechless. Then he hung up on me. About an hour later I got a call from a supervisor, profusely apologizing and assuring me I had a clear backgroung check. I did and got the job. It was 6 figures so they had very high liability.

The point being, these private databases are full of errors! I use some for sleuthing but errors are so common I only view them as hints. I used to use Lexis-Nexis for legal research throug a local law school library. They are one of the best but still not much better than about 30% accurate by my estimate investigating myself and a few close friends with their permission.

Huh? o_O

The victims were said to have been a previous employer of the suspect before he was terminated a couple of years ago.

In 2005, he invaded the home of another trucking company owner (that had also previously terminated) and threatened to kill the owner and his family. He was convicted here and served about 11 years.

There's no mystery. The suspect is a revengeful, disgruntled ex-employee with a history of similar violence against former employers.

I dunno... seems the common denominator here is trucking firms and not the national origin of the victims. Really not understanding OP's inquiry. MOO

So that would be a right turn out of the driveway, correct?
That’s what I understood. At the beginning of the camera footage the Sheriff says the suspect is seen walking southbound on 59 towards the business (left to right screen). When he’s leaving in the pickup the Sheriff says he leaves southbound. So left to right screen again.

Yep. I have not kept up!

I am wondering …. IF the use of a machete could have been a more “personal” type of revenge??? Especially as the men were restrained … when he was “sticking the knife in“ ????? (So to speak) Which is totally abhorrent as it is just like slaughtering them in MOO.

And Salgado resorted to the gun for the mother as he didn’t bear such a personal grudge with her??? And didn’t actually want to kill her by way of his own hands…. (If that makes sense?)

Or as McGoo suggested earlier…. Possibly 2 different killers??? If Salgado had an accomplice???

I don’t believe the use of a machete is a terror related event but more of a common farm / remote area implement that was easily available ….

All of the above is MO speculation (and I have no degree in criminology etc..) in trying to understand this senseless act.
