I just can't see this as a walkaway. There is, to the best of my knowledge, no indication that Abdullah has been radicalized. He seems to have a very comfortable life, is close with his family - who obviously care about him very much.

Craigslist transaction still pings for me.

Also, he is a very slight young man, presumably easy to overpower. I'm worried for him.

Why sell his car?
And why sell it on Craigslist?
What does he need MONEY for?

He was reported missing by his brother rather quickly. In a post a page or so back, it said a roommate talked to him about 5 pm on Weds and his brother reported him missing at 4am on Thursday, so like 12 hours later, right? I wonder if the brother and/or roommates found something alarming or did he just never go out and stay out all night...

Good point sunshine! 12 hours isn't long...

Reading back, Abdullah was at home at 5pm but this roommate he spoke to wasn't...

...Abdullah called his cousin at 5 p.m. because he was trying to locate something in their apartment, Alkadi said. His cousin said it was a normal conversation and nothing seemed out of the ordinary, he added.

Tho it was a 'normal conversation' between them, I can't help but wonder what he was looking for at the apartment??

If he is a practicing Muslim he wouldn't be going out in the early hours to drink or go clubbing. I can see how that would be concerning for family if he was always at home and was missing in the early hours. In the same way that a parent who has a routine to be home by 7 and didn't show by 4 would be concerning.

  • His parents stated he didn't need the car.
Alkadi is his parent's forum account.

[Alkadi]: He did not need the money. He sold his car because he was going back to Saudi Arabia so he didn't need it.
  • Selling on Craigslist takes out the middleman/used car dealer and will usually net more for the seller and be cheaper for the buyer. Many DMVs outsource some of their services to agents now. I was able to purchase a Jeep Cherokee off Craigslist, drive it down with the owner to an agent, change the titles and get it registered in about 40 mins.

  • His parents said he didn't need the money, they are probably rich but... $30,000 is $30,000.

I agree. I am very worried for him. I still think it may be related to Craigslist. My daughter in law sold their old Toyota on Craigslist, and they got 2 dozen calls for the car. They met at the Starbucks, but the people who bought the car have all of their personal info, from the DMV paperwork transfer.

Im confused...he didn't need the car because he was returning to Saudi Arabia?

But Abdullah had just returned from Saudi Arabia & was set to (again) begin school. Needless to say it began without him.

So was he not planning on going back to school? Was he expected to return home to Saudi Arabia?

From Reddit...
My son, Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi, 23, Has been missing for 4 days. He graduated from CSUN and was selling his car in preparation for coming back.

I really think that this is another case that we need to 'follow the money'. If the proceeds from his car sale is in his bank account or in his apartment then we can rule out robbery or runaway. It does seem like he had a good motive to runaway if he already graduated. He has 3 months from graduation for his student visa to expire.

His twitter makes it seem like he is such a loving guy. He is 23 years old and put hearts in almost all his posts. There is also a picture of him feeding baby ducks. I'm not sure if this is a clue but on June he wrote...

Abdullah Alkadi @Alkadiah · Jun 1

You make my sadness disappear with your beautiful smile. I wish I could have met you years ago ❤️

I think I may have found a second abandoned twitter account of his, but it is completely in Arabic. It was last twitted in May. There is also this blogspot linked on the second account.

I'm hoping he fell in love and got hitched in Vegas.

This article says he's a full time student that stopped attending classes

This one also says FT student & he abandoned his classes

ETA: in this video Abdullah's big brother says he was to start back to school like normal:

Are YOU sure his parents are the ones posting on reddit? I AM asking because apparently HACKERS are using reddit to 'control' apple computers all over the world.

Wow, this is confusing. Graduated or still attending classes?

He disappears from his own apartment after completing a Craigslist deal.

He was returning to Saudi Arabia or continuing with his education here?

If he was out in the San Gorgonio Pass, how did he get there. It's over 2 hours from Northridge to Beaumont. The Morongo Valley is out there as well with all the Indian Casinos, Morongo, Agua Caliente. It's on the way to Palm Springs.

That passage on his Twitter sounds like a bible or religious verse to me that he was repeating and may have had meaning in his life.

I know this is all random but they are things I thought of while I read through this thread and I don't know how to multi quote. Sorry.

I'd like to know where the money for the Audi is - is it in the bank?

I think both things may be true. His family said 'he graduated' and was returning home. Others said he had one semester left. Maybe his famaily did not understand when he said he 'was done.' He might have meant that he was done AFTER this final semester. And then he was returning home.

My son graduated from this same college. He thought he was ready to graduate and then got last minute notice that he needed 5 more credits because he had duplicates in one area and needed some credits in another. So he felt like he was done, but actually had to do 2 online courses first to get his diploma. But in his mind, he was through. I am wondering if it might have been something like that which is causing the confusion.

That's what I've been wondering. Supposedly LE has spoken with the person who purchased his car, so that would lead me to believe the deal was completed and Abdullah received the money (assuming the buyer is, in fact, innocent). Is the money in the bank, or somewhere else?

I also hate to speculate this, but what about his roommates? Could they have known that Abdullah had just received a pretty substantial amount of money (certainly a LOT for a college student) and gotten jealous?

I wondered the same thing but saw that one of the roomies is his cousin, whom he is very close to. I assume his cousin has family wealth as well. So I am not as suspicious of them now.

If he was done... whether by completing his degree or by quitting school... him selling his vehicle when it's been reported that he didn't need the money does open up the possibility that he was funding his way to stay in the U.S. And avoiding the relocation back to Saudi Arabia.
Perhaps a love interest prompted such a decision, or perhaps he did not want to leave the U.S..
If he believed he didn't have family support to stay in the US, emotionally and/or financially, finding a way to get cash and not telling anyone about his intent makes sense.
Without family support, he may not have been able to pursue a long term visa, citizenship, etc. This might have lead to him fleeing.

All of the above just conjecture, obviously.

I have thought about that, maybe he was being recalled to Saudi Arabia but didn't want to go. However, he still has the Lexus and he didn't take it.

How did he get out to Beaumont? Or at least his phone got out to Beaumont.

And his cousin did report him missing really early. For an adult, they don't even want to talk to you til the person has been missing 24 hours. What made the cousin suspicious that he got reported so early? It goes back to the apartment and what the cousin may have found there.

I don't find it that odd for his cousin to report him missing so quickly. If Abdullah was not the type of guy who had a lot of friends and went out a lot, it would be alarming for him not to have returned to the apartment to sleep at all that night.

Additionally, and more importantly IMO, his roommates likely knew he was selling that car. We have been told now that the buyer is innocent in all of this, but at the time there would have been no way for the roommates to know that.

If I knew a loved one was conducting a Craig's List transaction, and then they did not return home or sleep at home that night and were unreachable via phone I would be alarmed.

The money from the car is important. Like someone said, that should be easy to follow on the buyers end. Did he withdraw $30,000? Does the title show that Abdullah signed over ownership? Was it in cash or a cashiers check? Then the next part would be if the $30,000 cash or check was found at the residence. These are answers we need. If the $30,000 is gone along with Abdullah, then he could have been robbed for it, he could have left with it. Who else knew he was going to have that kind of money? Was it deposited in his bank account? Is that where he went after the car sales transaction? Was he going to the bank to deposit the money in his account and was accosted outside of the bank? I hope video footage of his bank surveillance videos have been looked at just in case. IMO

With it being so dangerous, makes me wonder why he didn't have one of his friends or cousins with him when he made the transaction, just to be on the safe side. It would be a whole different ball game if he had. IMO
