IIRC, he was attacked online by a family member and an unspeakable accusation was made against him by that person, also online. If I am remembering the story correctly, the family member later apologized. ( I have no links, merely my recollection of why he stopped posting here.)

Well, emotions were running high at that time I expect.

I kind of always felt that it was ultimately a successful effort to drive him off of the www, but we have agreed that I am cynical.

He was for sure the voice for Bob right out of the gate-He admired Fontelle and recognized how happy she made his friend. I am certain that he has many stories of his friendship...

BBM. You're not alone with that thought. IMO, there has been quite an effort all along to drive those away who seek answers into Mr. Harrod's disappearance. PE is not the only person who has been pushed away from seeking answers or been threatened for seeking answers.

Jeff went to Home Depot and get some lunch. When he came back an hour or so later, Bob was gone.

I hadn't noticed the above before. Interesting Bob's friend Paul was told he left for Home Depot and for some lunch. That seems to coincide with the time the cleaning lady mentioned in Disappeared and differs from the 3:00pm receipt provided by Jeff Michaels, Bob's SIL.

I wonder if Jeff was picking up lunch for both himself and Mr. Harrod, if the cleaning lady noticed he arrived with lunch?

Clearly someone told PE JeM picked up or went to lunch during that HD trip, I wonder who?

Well spotted cubby! He also says the daughters never returned his messages, so it doesn't seem it could have been them; the police didn't speak to him......so who did pass on that information?
He also seems to have more details about the repairs, 'cleaned, painted and some repairs'.

It may have been an effective way to drive the neighbour of the web, but it's also an effective way of that person putting a big sign on their head saying, 'I am a person who can react in a terrible way on impulse, and only stop to think about it after'.
I know everyone reacts differently under stress but honestly, some of the things that have been said and done in this case are the exact opposite of what you would expect people seeking a missing person to do. I don't think you're being particularly cynical, believe09.
The thing that really struck me about that blog is the way Mr Harrod turned to PE for help with his dying dog - personally, loving my furry best boy as I do, I would only turn to someone I really trusted to support and care for me at a time like that.
It is about time for everybody who Bob supported during his life to come forward, to give him all their support now, in his time of need.

FYI, here are the questions I asked PE with his responses below each (from July 2010). It sounds like JuM was the source for JeM getting lunch.

Who sent you the email on July 29th to say that Bob disappeared?

It was sent to me by another neighbor who had seen all the commotion at the house.

You mentioned SIL went to Home Depot and got some lunch. Was that communicated in the email you received? If so, did the email say what time this was? I ask because of the time discrepancies and the latest article says “Michaels told police that he worked at the home, then went to Home Depot about 2:40 p.m. to buy supplies. When he returned about 3:30 p.m., Bob's housekeeper was sitting on the front stoop because no one had answered the door.” The receipt shows he paid for items at 3:04 PM, so I’m wondering how the “lunch” fits in and the source of that info.

I guess he was working and found a stopping place. Then he went to get a bite to eat and run errands. I don't think there is anything unusual about that. The initial email I received just said Bob was missing and she thought I should know since we are friends. Nothing more. As soon as I got it, I called Bob's house and Julie answered. We talked for a while.

cloudajo, I love your posts - you always bump up exactly the right information. Either you have an amazing data retrieval system (that phrase borrowed from Mr Zwiebel) or you have a very, very good memory!*

Still totally befuddled with this work schedule though. As far as I can understand, JeM agrees to carry out painting, several repairs (maybe including toilet and other replacements) in a very limited timeframe. Yet on the first day of work, start time is unknown and the rest goes something like;

11.45ish - goes out to a store?
unknown time - goes out to a pharmacy?
unknown time - hanging around outside watching black vehicles on the street?
unknown time - goes out to lunch?
Noon/1pm/2.40pm - goes out to Home Depot?
3.30 returns - works in bathroom.
6pmish - leaves?

Can a person get lunch at Home Depot?
Is mid-afternoon a usual time for lunch in California? (I'm shocked because it is 12 on the dot here, for all workmen).

With this kind of work schedule I am not surprised the repairs were never finished. Am more surprised they ever got started. It looks like this has all come through JuM and is nonsense. Her timelines are as good as my map-reading skills. JeM's an experienced workman, he will know exactly how he planned his work out and what he did. He should put all the info up on Bob's facebook page and clear the matter up once and for all. He may be a very private person but it's not fair that family members who obviously were not there that day are being left to explain things.
I have to say this - I really feel for anyone who is innocent and is caught up in this case. What a nightmare. What a mess. I do not know who disappeared Mr Harrod, but I do know things can only be right again when he is recovered and brought home. And anybody who helps with that will never regret it.

I am hoping LE will have prepared some sort of press release for when the programme airs, or at least a renewed appeal for any information that might help them. It will be such a shame if this opportunity for more publicity is passed by.
At least we know people searching online are going to find WS, thanks to a very loyal and dedicated group of people here who have never given up.

AFAIK Disappeared producers have the full cooperation of PPD. In fact, I've seen LE participate in the shows I've watched. I'm really looking forward to seeing which family members cooperated for Bob's show as well as seeing what LE has to share via the Disappeared show for Bob's case.

Cubby's post sums this up, but Disappeared's production costs are pretty significant, I can imagine. I doubt they would have moved forward if they couldnt have some independent verification regarding the details of this case. LE has to be that resource-they have everything that has accumulated to date.

It would thrill me to see a representative from PPD appear on the show. That just might rubber stamp a version of the events which might come pretty close to the truth.

Thanks guys, that's a relief. I would love to see a clear version of what happened out there. Not just for us of course, but to show publicly who has been co-operative and helpful with LE in this case. That would speak volumes, I think.

It looks like Season 5 starts airing on Oct 22. The schedule only goes up to Oct 28 right now (see link below).

Between Oct 22 and Oct 28 there are 5 different Season 5 shows airing. None of them are Bob's.

If you look at the 2nd link, the Season 4 tab shows about 20 cases, and the Season 5 tab only shows 6 cases right now (1 being Bob's), so they will probably add cases that were filmed and continue to update the schedule.

How much had been ignored, what questions never asked. Like,what repairs had been done and a solid time line when Bob was last seen.

Another thing-that black SUV statement that was fed to fontelle...the one she repeated when she made the police report....It never happened-I would bet money on it. Someone told Fontelle that a black SUV was driving on the wrong side of the street, but that event never happened. Why would someone do that? We can tell from the report that it was meant to implicate BL.

From the police report:

July 28, 2009 – Missing Person Report
Fontelle said Jeff saw a black Chevrolet Tahoe drive slowly past 522 Carnation a few times over a 10 minute period. She said nobody saw Robert leave his home at 522 Carnation, but they suspect he got into the black Tahoe and left the area.

So did JeM tell Mr. Harrod about the Tahoe driving slowly pass the house over a 10 minute period? I agree Believe. This is hogwash!

So did JeM tell Mr. Harrod about the Tahoe driving slowly pass the house over a 10 minute period? I agree Believe. This is hogwash!

I am just having so much trouble working out how JeM organizes his thinking.

In between shopping trips, he notices a car being driven suspiciously near the home, very similar/identical to the vehicle owned by a person the whole family regards as deeply suspect.
On returning from his last shopping trip and finding the CL locked out and Bob missing, JeM ignores that issue, expresses no concern to the CL, gets a real focus on his work that seems to have been absent before, then goes home..........?

Picture for a minute someone like, say, GrainneDhu in the same situation. House search, street search, neighbour enquiries, discussion with the cleaner about suspect car - all that would have gone on just while they waited for LE to arrive!*

I know there's a middle ground here - the CL was deeply concerned yet didn't call LE, but JeM was family and he was the one who'd seen the suspicious car. And just what was it that made the CL so afraid when she entered the house with JeM? Bearing in mind Bob's age, wouldn't you have thought her first thoughts would have been that Bob had fallen and hurt himself? The transcript of the Disappeared clip really gives the impression she was gripped by an overwhelming (and unreasonable?) fear the moment she stepped through the door with JeM.

I cant and wont speak for CL, of course, but I get that kind of fear. I mean in all of the time she had been working for him, it seems that it was pretty much same old, same old.

Until that day, when absolutely nothing was the same.

It would unnerve me. I am willing to give her a pass on not calling LE because a family member was in the house and apparently unconcerned. Perhaps she figured he knew something she didnt know.

But this was an elderly man.

You raise a good point about GrainneDhu-why didnt everyone leap to the possibility that Bob was injured? Why didnt someone, oh like AH who was a block away, go over and break a window to try and get in just in case Bob couldnt speak for himself?

My personal belief is that the black SUV stuff is pure nonsense-in any case, if this was a 10 minute event, clearly JeM would have been able to record the license plate and LE would have known out of the gate whether or not it was BL. The Lic number wasnt given to Fontelle-It isnt on the MP report. It isnt on the police report of the well being check.

It's because it wasnt BL or her family-in fact, I seriously doubt it existed at all. JMO.
