I googled 'Bob Herrod missing' and websleuths does come up.

Lol, you spelt his name wrong but isn't it great? I have googled Bob HErrod by mistake a million times myself, and our Bob still comes up now! And 'ob Harrod' more times than I can count.

My real problem is......searching for Bob, I have accidentally hit on our mod's shewhomustnotbenamed's profile SO many times. I agonise about emailing an explanation every time, then think saying I'm not stalking is probably worse than saying nothing.......

I increased the bandwidth again, so it's all sorted.

The timeline for the two receipts - there was some confusion over the morning receipt. It was at a pharmacy, early morning, (9amish?)and the rumor was the purchase was donuts and paper plates. And in another rumor as it was someone online claiming to be a relative, Bob was said to prefer eating from paper plates. I am really not sure if that's just someone trying to highlight his supposed 'faults'.

There is a huge, huge problem with the afternoon receipt, in my opinion. Son in law used that to explain where he was when Bob disappeared. It's timed at 3.04pm.

The housekeeper says Bob was gone by noon - just like son in law's wife did once too. He's outnumbered. By the housekeeper and his own wife. His timeline doesn't hold water, I believe. He has had four years to clarify it, and has chosen not to.

Pharmacy huh? So prescription meds that could cause death if overdosed wasn't the rumor? It was donuts and paper plates? I am being a bit sarcastic of course. I absolutely agree the timeline doesn't fit in the slightest.

In the disappeared show they said the two receipts were
1) convenience store (morning on his way to Bob's or lunch?)
2) home improvement store

Housekeeper says in the show she arrived at noon, door was locked. After waiting 15 minutes JeM arrived with bag (my guess is convenience store stuff) She asked where Bob was and JeM didn't answer her except to ask if she was supposed to be there at that time on that day and then had her wait while he checked upstairs. There is a timeline discrepancy amongst missing persons police report and detective discovery, evidence etc.

The convenience store receipt was time stamped around 9:30 am, iirc. It's in thread 1, somewhere in the first few pages of the thread. LE verified someone, they won't say who, spoke with Bob about 10:00 am. Of the two receipts JeM gave police, both were outside the window of time Bob disappeared.

JeM arrived and then left sometime after 10:00 am, returned about noonish per the housekeeper, but had NO receipt to account for his whereabouts late morning until he showed up and found the housekeeper at the door.

I went on netflix to watch Bob's episode again and it's not there. It looks like it's in saeson 6 and netflix only has thru season 5 which made me realize...I've NEVER seen it! I've read the transcript on Bob's thread along with skimming thru the rest of the discussion and actually thought i'd seen the episode. I even have mental imgaes of what his family looks like! I seriously have to find it now because I feel like I'm losing my mind!

Hello All ~ my first post. I got here from "Long Lost Love". I noted in the documentary that someone allegedly spoke with Bob Monday morning at 10 a.m. I'm curious whether that person is a family member? Did I dream that it was one of Bob's daughters? (Frankly, if Bob's phone was picked up at his end, it doesn't actually prove who answered it. It could've just as easily been answered by the SIL who has already admitted he was in the house.) The situation reminds me of the Laci Peterson case where it was theorized/proven that Laci was killed the prior evening, before she was allegedly seen by the jogger and a dog walker (?) (To be fair to the witnesses, if you're used to seeing someone in passing every day, your mind often will "remember" having seen that person, even if in fact you haven't). If Bob actually "disappeared" that evening, it would've been after his phone call with Fontelle. Has Fontelle mentioned when they got off the phone with each other Sunday night? I'm guessing it probably would've still been early enough in the evening for Bob to have received visitors. If he did have a visitor, I don't believe he would've let anyone in the house unless it was someone he knew. I apologize in advance for covering familiar ground, however I'm not a speed reader and 18 threads seem a little daunting right now! :newhere:

Hi and welcome to Bob Harrod's thread. May I call you Pip for short?

Yes, 18 threads are rather daunting. The links in some posters' threads may help you get up to speed without reading all 18 right away. There's lots of good info here.

The police have never released details of that 10 a.m. call, so we can only speculate on that.

We are always happy to see another person's thoughts on this sad case.

Welcome! May I call you Pip too? I'm sure that name must be from literature...and you are right, 18 threads is a lot.

The 10am phone call source has never been released, but we know this;

An OC Reg journalist in the early days, when articles still had comments under them, responded to a question by saying police were treating the 10am call as the last, solid call to Bob. It implies the call was from an impeccable - or at least very trustworthy - source.

All comments were later deleted at family's request...grrrr.

One of Bob's daughters says she called Bob around 11.30/45am. But police don't seem to have figured that in. Who knows why? It provides a kind of account if son in law's movements, as she says she heard him speak in the background, saing he was going to the store. He thought it was important enough to mention it on Bob's missing person Namus entry.

I know it's griping, but I would have thought LE could have just released a LITTLE more info about the phone calls by now.....it's no good saving everything for the trial if the trial never takes place because there isn't the information, which wasn't received because the case went cold because police released no information, etc etc......

I too wish there was solid info about the 10am call. Who called? Did they speak with Bob? Answering machine? JeM at Bob's and JeM said "he's here, we're going to the store?" In the ID show Fontelle says she spoke to Bob every morning at 10 ( so another reason not to leave till her morning phone call came in, housekeeper came and again every night about 10, (her time..2 hours ahead or Bob's?) She has not stated she spoke to Bob anytime after speaking with him the night before. AFTER the family meeting. So at least 10 pm. Again, his time or hers? Nothing about a long daily conversation Monday morning as was their normal routine. Police have this information. They have phone records. Wish we knew what they do..

Ah, we did work out some things about Fontelle's last call to Bob. LE says last time she spoke to him was Sunday night, and I recollect we worked out it was about 9pm or 10pm CA time. Without checking, I think it was more likely near nine, as I don't think they kept late hours.

The 10am call the day he disappeared is just a blank - I don't think it was an answering machine call though. LE seemed pretty certain Bob was alive and answered the phone then, I think.

I have had a lot of trouble with this myself Lol and am no expert. I waited for months for the show to air, then Germany would NOT let me buy it. But have you tried searching in season 5? Bob's show gets listed in season 5 and 6, for some reason.

Or google and just see what comes up. :)

Unless I am going mad, this has happened;

OC Reg put up a paywall
LA Times was free to view

OC REg took their paywall down, at least in part
LA Times put a paywall up, at least in part.

I am a little confused, to say the least.

Oh, and the editor of The OC Register has stepped down, age 70. Which could mean he has free time, to help out with Bob? He is a good man. And a good press man. :)

Cooee, Mr Brusic, Bob Harrod's still missing! Help needed!

I don't think the lack of info on the call will make or break the case. Since various family members have changed their time line for last seen and phone calls, I think that info will come in handy come time for a trial.

I'm a little late, but welcome to WS and to Bob's thread.

Bob's episode is still for sale and well worth the few bucks. I've watched it at least a half dozen times. It took a few views to catch everything. There is a little bit missing from the transcript, so well worth it.

I am checking daily to see when season 6 is added to netflix. Will definately update the thread when it is added.

Welcome to WS Pipsissiway_Potts!

Thank you for you interest in Bob's case.

Oh, what's the little bit missing from the transcript Cubby? I never knew that.

Bob is starting to pop up in quite a few places now, in list of missing millionaires. It's not me, though I am glad of any continued publicity. I am a bit torn though. He is featured with lots of very famous cases of missing people whose cases will probably never be forgotten. But a lot of them had risk factors in their lifestyles that Bob simply didn't have.

Part of the great tragedy is his case is the fact he lived a relatively simple life, I think. And by the book. From what I've been seeing, it's not even that unusual to get married at an advanced age in the US.

Oh! I've just seen another missing Harrod in the banner right above our heads. I hope it is not a relation....

It's very confusing. This wikipedia page has season 4 being 27 episodes long, thereby making Bob's episode (according to this accounting) as season 5, episode 13.

Netflix, however, lists season 4 as "Running for Her Life" through "Innocence Lost", and season 5 as "The Road Not Taken" through "Missing by Design". iTunes seems to follow this same season-numbering scheme and puts Bob's episode in season 6, episode 13. Season 6 is not available yet on Netflix; episodes display in iTunes (US) as $2.99 each for high-definition, and $1.99 each for standard definition.

Anyway, I think this is why it gets listed in both seasons. I'm not sure why the discrepancy. Maybe Investigation Discovery channel really did have a 27-episode-long fourth season when it originally aired, but it seems incorrect to me, especially when the others are a lot shorter.

It's nice to see Bob's case featured on the WS "Home" page, but the link to get here doesn't work. I'll alert my post here to see if we can get it fixed.
