My mom and Dad, when in their 80's, still drove. They had car chargers and even gave me one because I usually charged at home only. I guess it depends upon the person. But since they both are diabetics and have other health concerns as well, I assumed they would have a car charger on a long road trip. JMO

IIRC, it was reported in MSM

That their phone was off coming out of the casino. Their daughter was told by LE that the phone pinged off the casino tower, so it must have done that while off, just a ping, then once more off the tower by the highway, within fifteen minutes of their leaving. Coverage seems spotty even in Valley Center unless there is a direct line of site to the nearest tower.

The two of them, in the still shots released both seem in distress, Mr. Knutson has a cane and all Mrs. Bedwell-Knutson has a jacket or something over her shoulder, no purse that I can make out. They're walking apart, looking distressed, both of them.

Contrast that to the description given of them by their neighbors, which is more vibrant, by their children expectations, who waited for them and the dessert they were bringing with them for the BBQ after their stop at the casino, which they were said to frequent at least monthly, so very familiar to them, normally.

That the signal from their car GPS and phones all stopped after that last ping could either mean they flipped their car over somewhere where signals can't reach, or the other possibilities, given what's seen and how the search for them has progressed so far.

In this video, at the link: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015...ted-missing-after-leaving-valley-view-casino/
at the 1 minute 12 second mark, Robert Acosta says:
"They were on their way to our house. They had desserts in the car."

In the article to the same link, though:

"Acosta is worried for his parents’ health. Both have diabetes: “If there is a traffic accident, and they’re at the bottom of some canyon and no one can find them, they don’t have insulin.” "

Bringing my post Forward.
The son said "They had desserts in the car".

The son talked to them at 10:30 in the morning. When he said they had desserts in the car, I take it, he already knew the desserts were in the car?
He didn't say they were on their way to our house and need to pick up dessert.
IMOO.

In this link, Dianna has a jacket over her right shoulder, and in her left hand, she is carrying a purse, or something. I can't tell if that is the strap to her purse hanging down, or what that is, but she is definitely carrying something.
IMOO.

Yes she does have a purse. Thank you. I completely missed it thinking it as a shadow in a less clear picture.

Your welcome! I needed a much needed break from our basement flooding, so I found it while taking a break!
This crazy Colorado weather! Lots of people's basements are having issues, so we aren't the only ones.
It flooded last week, too! Too much rain.
IMOO.

I wonder if there was anything on there credit cards, gas or some small purchase. We haven't heard anything yet right?

I would also think they would have a phone charger in the car. I have a charger but my cords are inside, I usually have to grab one if I think I'll need it. And an outing like that I would of brought it but possibly forget. And reserve my battery. But I guess if I was hours away I would purchase a new charger, but that is besides the point. I can't imagine not having the vehicle on camera at any other spot.

Honestly it is hard to tell how they are feeling in that picture. Cecil most likely walks with a cane most of the time?? Dianna from the position of the coat, or sweater might be hot. The way she is carrying her purse is interesting to me though. Like she just clutched and and went, I think the strap is hanging down. I wonder if that is how she normally carries her purse. I grab mine like that if I want to move quickly. I'm just grasping at air, hoping they are found.

From one of Paul's photos sitting down, I can see the top of his cane. He probably used it most of the time, especially when walking. Is Diana left or right handed? She may be carrying her purse that way because it is in her less dominant hand.

I am between kidnapped or bad accident. Amazing nothing has been found during all the searches. If there was a health emergency, one of them would use his/her cell phone to call for help immediately, one would think.

I am curious about their winnings, if any, that day. That could hold a clue or two toward kidnapping/car jacking. But then, we know scores of MP are found physically close to their disappearance, many times by non-searchers. The fact the car has not been found points to an accident, but then bad guys could be in another state with their car.

Such a sad case in any event.

Question about the car's GPS. Do these on board GPS systems require a fuse in order to work?

There's usually a fuse box under the hood, or deep down under the driver's side console, out of sight but accessible.

If they were carjacked, someone could have made them drive yay-far, pulled over to remove the fuse, took away the cell phone, removed the license plates, then continued on to just about anywhere from there.

The car may be no where near that mountain by now.

I don't think carjackers are as smart as you Gig. ; )

Haha thanks. This might not be their first rodeo. If they use this casino often for theiving from people, it's possible they will return in a few weeks for their next escapade.

I think it is very important to know if Cecil and Dianna won a lot of money, and perhaps that is where the top secret parallel conversation comes in.

Sorry for your trouble there, and thank you for pitching in here to help, despite it. Good luck with it all.

The areas you and steelman mapped out seem very possible. There are many sharp drops along the road that would put them out of reach of any signals along the roads.

Link added respectfully BM, to steelman's post.

Knutsons' Case Map

Steelman Hypothesis,

A Bing map bird's eye map of the area

Just by way of example, this road labeled almost the same as the main road, may be possible wrong turn off.

This case is driving me crazy. Just thought I'd share. I can't imagine. They have to be somewhere.

Just re-thinking... How can their son know for sure they were not traveling with insulin? can't imagine they wouldn't have any with them if they were insulin dependent. (I know some opined here that not all older folks with diabetes use it, but this couple did.) If someone did know they didn't have any insulin with them, was that normal? If not, why not suggest they take some with them?

And I just can't believe there have still be no sightings of them or their vehicle anywhere. I am so very curious about the parallel investigation too.

Someone had mentioned if it was an accident them not having insulin but what if they had like one of those insulin pen things. It holds a month supply without the need for refrigeration. But still, 9 days out....

As I've shared with a few threadmates, I've actually made an emergency drive down valley center road in to Escondido. I can only describe it as similar to "mr toads wild ride". Patches of hwy 15 in to Escondido are similar with sharp turns and huge drop offs.
I hope the areas I have suggested that Forager mapped are being searched!

I would agree with you about the insulin. I know people that carry it in their purse or keep a bag with their necessities take it with them on short trips, long trips, to work & it is in the same town they live in, not 4 hours from home.
I really hope something turns up soon.
