They are selling stuff on EBay to help fund the search expenses.

Scroll down and read the description.

JMO, but it seems to me that 'someone' wants to cash in with linking it to the horrible tragedy of so long ago.

I have read every post but cannot recall whether or not the couple had driven from the casino to their son's home at any time in the past. Did they have the proper directions? TIA!

If my husband and I went missing on a road trip, and our kids were heading up the searches, I would have no problem with them selling anything and everything on ebay, to fund the search parties. :candle:

It somewhat reminds me of what Dianna herself said about this movie, AMERICAN CRIME:

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/650223178/American-Crime-employs-restraint.html?pg=all

" Not everyone, though, is eager for the story to come to the screen. "No one ever even asked us about it," said Dianna Bedwell-Knutson, Sylvia and Jenny's sister. "It's their gain, our pain." "

Also in the same article:

" The Likens killing has also inspired at least one play and various artwork, including installations by the feminist activist and writer Kate Millett. She wrote about the case in her 1979 book, "The Basement: Meditations on a Human Sacrifice," which offers the perspectives of both victim and perpetrator. "

About the eBay sale. They may own many copies, with stacks of them in a closet, and this one is not a sentimental version.

There are weird people out there who collect these sorts of things. Don't be surprised if this one sells and the next day another goes up.

The son is smart and resourceful and is using every tool he has to find his parents. Here in WS we are jaded, but this time also seemingly unfairly quick to judge. Remember that family members are victims too, and there is absolutely zero evidence linking him to wanting to harm his parents. Ease up on the guy.

Yes, that's part of the ick factor for me, like cashing in on this horrific tragedy.
IMOO.

I've been following but haven't chimed in.....well until now....
I understand they are trying to raise money for searches, gas, food etc...but....there is just something off about it,. I don't know what it is but just the entire description of the item being sold or auctioned just doesn't sit right with me.
I don't know how long Paul & Dianna have been married, but in one breath the seller describes the Dianna as her "mom" then "step-mom" then back to "mom". Idk just strange imo.
I guess different strokes for different folks.
Just because I don't think I could or would personally start auctioning things off, doesn't mean that's it's not ok for someone else to want to do it.
Imo it is strange, very strange, but I guess it's understandable in way too.

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

Yes, there are weird people out there. Like people buying Jody Arias's artwork!
It's just WHAT they are selling is the whole shocking thing, with Dianna missing and all.
It still upsets me physically. ICK!

So let's say the son stopped searching/ And he said he stopped because he could not fund them anymore---he had items to sell to fund more searches, but decided against it because it felt icky/

Wouldn't we be all over him if he had decided that? I know I would.

I still would like to know if Cecil and Dianna had driven the route FROM the CASINO to the son's house in the past. If not, did they have the proper directions?

Could the couple have been carjacked after maybe stopping at a small store for something? If carjacked, they could be completely out of the state.

Something just seems off about all of this to me. Please let them be found!

Well, it is MY opinion about the ICK factor.
I seriously don't think he would feel "icky", when he was caught on video trashing the house he let foreclose! That is who he is, in my opinion. This is who I am.
That being said, he can sell whatever is legal I suppose, but it doesn't change how I feel about selling an item that correlates to a horrific death of a young girl, who is Dianna's sister.
And Dianna was not happy about that movie coming out about her sister called American Crime.
In My Opinion, Only.

I agree, Let them be found.
And yes, something seems off about this to me, too.

Sometimes it is not the immediate family who searches. I see there is a Go Fund Me and search volunteers, so the search is not going to stop, IMO.

I am being sincere when I say there seems to be something 'off' about this whole thing. It's just my own little opinion.

ETA: LE is not going to give up!

What is your assessment of this?

My assessment ? I think they are just people that make a modest living and all of the unexpected expenses and missed work is taking a toll on them, or has the potential to. The daughter had to come in from out-of-state and the son hasn't been working since this happened.

Gasoline is $3.00 bucks a gallon in California and I'm sure he's filled up his tank at least once a day since they went missing. The same probably applies to his sister. Both of them are being forced to live away from their home during this time as well.

If someone was use to buying and selling stuff on Ebay, I could see them using that as a source of quick money. They are only selling one item, which I think is more of a charity donation on the part of the bidders.

If they were selling all of their parents belongings on Ebay, or things that belonged to them, then I would see things completely different..........and so would the cops.

Right now the bid is at $127.50.....................about 3 tanks of gas.

On the facebook page it says that they knew the area well, but I don't recall if they were familiar with driving from the casino to the son's house.

Well said, and not to insult anyone speculating as their mind takes them, as all is always possible, but I've seen families try to mitigate the expenses of their efforts finding family members or justice, with printing posters, etc... with donations on many threads here, and in this case, it seems the same. I find it a tad tasteless at this point, given all that we know of their habits, their state of health, family relations, of how the search has gone, of how leads have been released, from up thread, and I find it a tad overboard to damn people for seeking help to search, who over the past week have lost hope of even finding them alive, so going back to map gazing, until some more substantial information is released.

I found a recall for the 2014 Sonata, maybe something happened to their transmission? IMOO.

"Consequence: If the transmission shift cable detaches, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash."

Thanks for the answer, Treelights! I believe that is an important factor.

I really don't think anyone is 'damning' anyone. That is certainly not my intention when I say that there is a Go Fund Me, and there are volunteers. Has anyone thought of calling in Texas Equisearch? They have drones that can be flown over the area.

MOO

It's easy to feel the frustration building up in here. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for the people out walking amongst the rattlesnakes and mosquito's.

As my crazy old lady would say, "Bless their hearts". (It's a southern phrase, I think)

Thanks to the volunteers as well!

All of the searchers deserve a big THANK YOU! I've been on searches and know with every step you are hoping to find something, anything, as a clue. Sometimes I have felt a sense of relief when nothing is found because that might mean there is hope. It has been years since I joined a search team because I'm too old and with health problems now. I can stay at the base and help, and also drive to many places and put out flyers. People do this for others because they care. I feel so very fortunate not to have had any family members disappear.

I have thought of this couple constantly and pray that they will be found.
