Mom of missing baby speaks out about her husband's arrest.

Of course there is nothing anywhere on it...

Is $100,000 a typical bond for child endangerment?
Or is that a pretty major indication that they plan to charge him with something bigger?

Elaina's Mom was held on $250k but she admitted to knowing the child was seriously injured/dying and not seeking help.

Then again Mona Nelson is also being held on $250k for torching a little boy to death.

I guess there is a lot of variation. :sigh:

This video has an interview with the baby's maternal grandfather.
The mother spent hours at police headquarters being questioned.

"Right now our focus is on the baby and that's who we want to see right now."
"She's definitely in the baby's life, she just wants everybody to know that we are hoping for the best."

Daphne's mother lives at a separate location, but investigators have been in contact with her, Watson said.
The family is cooperative, she said.

A neighbor said the mother went to some kind of treatment center several weeks ago.

Wednesday night Oakland police and FBI agents searched John Webb's home on Greenridge Drive in that city's Oak Knolls area.

One neighborhood told NBC Bay Area that she had not seen the little girl at the home for several weeks. She said Daphne used to be quite noisy, but that she the apartment went quiet between four to six weeks ago.

This neighbor also said the John Webb used to keep to himself most of the time, but in the last couple of days he had become more friendly and social with the neighbors. She said that she had been interviewed by investigators.

As someone who lives across the bay and lived in Berkeley for four years, I can tell you this area of Oakland is absolutely sketchy. I would never get out of my car on International.... I am a young woman so maybe that is part of it, but there is so much crime there that I would avoid that area.

I'm very worried for Daphne, she is so adorable! I hope she is found safe ASAP

Webb's daughter, who does not want to be identified, told me Thursday that she was talking on the phone with her father while he was in the store. She says that when he walked out he seemed startled and told her Daphne was gone.

Something interesting to note -- Webb's older daughter says he called her up after being estranged for a year. They were supposed to meet Wednesday and he realized Daphne was gone while he was talking to his daughter about their meeting.

Quite coincidental. Also the neighbor saying that he had appeared more sociable than usual a couple of days before the incident.

In reference to my post above, the story is now posted on KTVU website.

This is what pops out for me as an inconsistency:
"Davis said her husband told her he wanted to pick up a root beer for Daphne and energy drink for her and was in the store for about five minutes.
She said police then told her Webb was in the store for about 15 minutes and that surveillance video showed him buying one energy drink.".

The 15 minutes mentioned by police is significantly different than the 2 minutes mentioned by store clerk. IMO. And who is the "her" that Davis mentions? Is it Davis? If so, this is the first time she has been connected to the Dad on that day. I thought she was in rehab.

O/T perhaps, and IMO for sure, but root beer for a 21 month old? Nothing like rotting out the baby teeth from the get-go (JMO).

And that energy drink he was buying "for her" had BETTER not have been for that little girl!

PS- I know it's been said before and will be said again but IMO this all sounds like 100% alibi creation here:

http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=news/local/east_bay&id=9168998

" The store owner says Webb came in by himself and bought two energy drinks.

"For five minutes he was in the store," said A.J. Abdo, owner of Gazzali's. "He bought an energy drink and left. He was talking on the phone." When asked if he was talking on the phone the whole time, Abdo answered, "The whole time, yeah."

Webb's daughter, who does not want to be identified, told me Thursday that she was talking on the phone with her father while he was in the store. She says that when he walked out he seemed startled and told her Daphne was gone.
"

Webb, who lived in Sacramento for a couple decades according to public records, was arrested in that city in 2001 on a felony charge for discharging a firearm with gross negligence and was sentenced to two months in a sheriff's work project, according to court records. In 2002, he was arrested on misdemeanor spousal battery and criminal threats charges. Those charges were dismissed the following year. He has no criminal record in Alameda County.

Webb and his family have not been available for comment since Daphne went missing. The child's mother is not a person of interest, police said.
...
Police are evaluating a resident's account from several blocks away from the market that a girl with similar clothing was seen with an unidentified black or Latino woman between 30 and 40 years old who had long, straight black hair and was wearing a light-colored shirt and jeans.

If it turns out to be a stranger abduction, Finkelhor said Daphne stands a good chance at surviving the ordeal.

"A child of this age, if abducted, has a good chance of survival because the primary motive (of the abductor) is to raise the child," he said. In addition, an abducted toddler of that age would have trouble identifying the perpetrator, which is often a motive for killing other abducted older children, he said.

Can we read into that if it is NOT a stranger abduction she does NOT stand a good chance of surviving the ordeal? I think we know the answer :(

So he told police he went in the store to get himself and Daphne a drink...but actually only got himself one... Seems to fit with the theory that she may have not even been there. Glad there were cameras around this store just to even prove HE was there at this point!

15 minutes??? Doing what? Walking around? Talking to someone in the store? This is really weird.

Nuttin' for the poor confused old mother who had been sitting in a hot SUV for fifteen minutes?

Ths depresses me...
KTVU also learned a cadaver dog picked up a scent at the family's home in a trashcan and on a pillow case, but it was unclear if that scent is of Daphne or of something or someone else.

Oh that's healthy, go buy the toddler some soda. ::SMH::

The constantly changing details of little things that really ought to be very easy to verify are driving me NUTS. I'm sure I'm not alone. Some of the stories aren't even spelling the store name correctly.

Was it a couple of minutes, 5 minutes, 15 minutes...?

What did he actually buy? I thought originally it was an energy drink and a water, then it was a couple of energy drinks, now it was planned to be root beer and an energy drink but it was only a single energy drink? (at least I think we can be fairly certain he bought an energy drink!)

Aggravating!
