An interesting suspect was developed from this case. A neighbor could see "Heather Williams'" bedroom window from HIS bedroom window, although the view was partially obstructed by a hanging plant, and he would supposedly watch her strip her clothes for bed. This suspect knew that her parents would be out of town for the weekend, he was about the right size, he was in his mid-twenties, he had moved back in with his parents five months before the attack, and he drove a green Chevy Vega, which was a vehicle identified in the attack a few days before this one.
While LE was processing the scene, this individual showed up at the doorstep holding a plastic bag full of cheap jewelry. He introduced himself to the officer who met him at the door, then walked through the front door and past that officer. He walked through the front room and to the back patio door. From there he pointed out his bedroom. He scanned the house eagerly. He asked if "Heather" was alright. LE told them they were processing a burglary and led him out. The suspect showed them the bag of jewelry and explained that he found it in his mother's room. His parents were out of town and he didn't think it was theirs. He said he didn't know how it got there, but that he would check with her when she got home. He had noticed the cops there so he wanted to check with them too.
(Hunting A Predator: Interestingly enough, a tracking dog eliminated this suspect right after Attack #7 occurred. While the dog still had the fresh scent, LE went and got him and allowed the dog to sniff him for confirmation. The dog confirmed that he was not the attacker at Attack #7. In order to make absolute sure, this suspect was watched and was in his house when yet another EAR attack occurred.)
