It almost seems that Ilona was expecting trouble of some sort. To call jails or hospitals immediately because someone is a no show for two hours seems odd to me. Even more puzzling is Sal's phone taken from the car but placing a text to Gianni at 1:30. Wasn't that actually after the killing? The shooting being at 1:14 AM.

I am wondering how LE could establish whether they owed any drug debts. It's not like it shows on a credit report. IMO no drug dealer is going to expose their accounts recievable to LE. I would venture to say that drug dealers are not the most credible witnesses or sources.

JMO

True, and if they did happen to find their dealer, it's not likely he'd pipe up with 'the kids owed me a ton of money' as that'd make him quite the suspect.

But how could they afford such a costly habit? Neither worked high-enough paying jobs to be able to fork over 250. every single day of the week.

How do they know this baggie is linked to a drug dealer? Do they use designer bags now? WTH! I'm sure LE has a good idea of who is who in the San Diego drug world but if they can link it to someone then WHO is this person and how will their testimony be used? I'm sure they aren't going to hop up on the witness stand and talk.
Fingerprints, perhaps. Dealer probably has been arrested previously. JMO

250 a day is a good customer to have no drug dealer would kill anyone that consistent because as I'm sure we all know at least one person who has suffered with drug problems an addict will find a way to come up with the money I'm a little err OK a lot disappointed with what is coming out as I am learning the details the same way everyone else. I know a lot of successful people who carry on with normal lives that use opiates I don't think the victims dirty laundry should define or take away from the tragedy because it may have nothing to do with what happened

Thank You for voicing what's going through my mind.

The news blurb I heard said baggie and cocaine, but didn't repeat which drug in later reports, so I don't know. Anyways, I tend to agree with you that so far there's the tossing out of the victims dirty laundry, but it hasn't explained real motive to actually kill three people. There's no way to justify that, IMO. I'm quite confused and upset by the bits and pieces being released. Is this all going to be about somebody merely owed somebody money?

Additional information of interest...

A judge decided to unseal search warrants after the preliminary hearing is finished which could be days in the triple murder case against Carlo Mercado.

A San Diego Police homicide detective says two surveillance cameras show Flint leaving the Cathy Jean Shoes, where she worked. She locked up the store with a co-worker at 12:22 a.m.

The homicide detective says Flint's cell phone was found in the car along with a cocaine bag with a drug dealer's DNA on it.
Bessie nailed this one!

Does Court resume this afternoon or not until tomorrow? Seems to me that Preliminary proceedings are different in CA. Where I live the Prosecutor only presents enough to bind over for trial. Usually lasts maybe 2 hours.

Thanks for all the updates everyone! There is a lot of information to digest. I hope the families aren't just now learning of it.

and maybe a little too much of the article (and maybe you need to offer a link?)? Please be careful...

One thing I find hard to believe is that Gianni was the killer of Ilona and Salvatore.

Finding out that Sal had just returned from treatment makes this even sadder for me. It should have been a new beginning for his life, not an ugly end.

Kinda off topic but I wonder if Sal would still have been able to donate his organs if he had drugs in his system.

It's terrible the way they report these facts in such a way it's impossible to understand what they're implying. I hope not that.

I know the way they're reporting that the witnesses actually saw a man with wavy hair and that it was Gianni getting into a car heading westbound is very confusing at this point. I'm waiting to hear that he saw what happened and went after whoever did it. I need to hear clearer details and feel the news coverage is too fast and shocking to grasp those details.

Putting together some facts so we know more about what ties CM to this crime.
:gaah: There's always duct tape involved!

"Crime scene specialist Heidi Hebert said she examined a deodorizing spray can found in the trunk of Gianni's car next to Gianni's body. The can had duct tape on it, hair and blood, she testified. The duct tape had been placed against the nozzle as if to allow the spray to come out of the can."

"The investigator told the court that there was a piece of rolled up duct tape found on the license plate of Gianni's car too. The tape had a single black hair on it."

"On June 21, investigators found the same type of duct tape in the Mercado's closet, Hebert testified."

BBM: I agree the information is coming fast and furious. I always had the feeling that GB witnessed what had happened and pursued the shooter but with the information released today that numerous calls were made to him with no reply I'm thinking GB was ambushed first. SIGH.... More information did come out in the hearings today connecting CM to the murders but I'm not at liberty to say and hopefully by this evening when all the media gets their ducks in a row it will come out on MSM and then I can link. The good news here is that today was not just about "airing dirty laundry" on the Belvedere/Flint families but that CM is not looking so good either. Motive is still anyone's guess though after this first day of the prelim hearings. IMO the judge will have enough "cause" after tomorrow to go to trial. We can all pray :please:

Thank you Curious!!! This is in part what I know and the next to come out will hopefully be that DNA was involved with the duct tape!

:thinking:The rolled up tape found on Gianni's car license plate must have been to cover the real plate with another plate or cover it up completely during the long search for him and his car. Whose black hair?

It was CM black hair...KFMB just did a report and lot's more info to come as soon as there is a link to add. DNA is everywhere and reporting that CM was following Ilona that evening at the mall. Sorry will post video as soon as it's up!

Exactly, like she was expecting trouble for Gianni.

Wow thank you for all the updates, and my apologies in advance for being a little bit lost. Is there a summary somewhere?

So it may have all been a drug thing after all? (that was originally what I thought but I was admittedly biased just because of their ages). Regardless it's extremely sad. I'm just trying to understand where the case is at now.
