Good - then some blog opinion and wiki comment about why women report or do not report sexual assault does not have any bearing on anything.

When we read it in DSM V or other valid psychological context, it's relevant.

That’s your opinion. I didn’t know we were here to diagnose psychiatric disorders, but whatevs!

Pedantry aside, thanks for sharing!!

It matters, and it's good to have a phrase to describe the particular occurrence. Now next time it's used when discussing a sexual predator we know what it means.

Now we know that Kevin Spacey got drunk thirty years ago at a party, and then he laid on a fourteen year old boy. I wonder where the boy's parents were, and why they approved of their child attending an adult drunken party.

I also wonder why all this didn't come out when Michael Jackson was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior. If the silence of victims is due to a fear that they would not be believed, why didn't they look at the Michael Jackson case and know that there would be a proper investigation?

/s (??)

Because they looked at the Michael Jackson case and realized it was a raging dumpster fire? MOO, of course!

And include information about how often men are sexually harassed by women, and when it was first safe for men to report sexual harassment and be taken seriously.

Maybe ya can do us all a kindness and look it up? I’m curious to know, too. TIA

I think it's important that we ground information in fact, such as quoting mainstream media articles rather than Facebook. Similarly, there are factual theories describing behavior, and then there are blog opinions about human behavior. When putting forth a point that intends to explain the psychological behavior of victims of sexual assault, typically it's more worthwhile to consider factual theories rather than blog opinions.

It only matters if it's a real thing. What is this theory that explains why women accept money rather than report sexual assault, and they are afraid to report sexual assault because they'll compromise their jobs or status, except when Michael Jackson was charged with sexual abuse, that made no difference and did not open the door for other victims to step forward, except those were children, and men and women are different and ... what does the phrase mean?

I don't see the connection either.

Michael Jackson was a sexual predator who paid victim's families in exchange for silence. That's no different that what we are hearing today about other people who got close to famous people with the hope of becoming famous.

BUT YOU ADMITTED THAT YOU DIDN’T READ ANY OF THE MSM LINKS. You said you clicked one link and didn’t like that you were warned that the site contained “adult” themes. So you read no more. I’m done.

But your question was:

The point of my post was that many of the alleged assaults occurred before Viagra was available, so a "viagra addiction" defense wouldn't get him very far.

I don't view this as a man who was unable to control himself - per some sort of viagra thing. This was a situation of women who went to the hotel room of a famous man, presumably with the hope of having some sort of opportunity - star in a film, get an invitation to a good party. The man tried to take advantage of them. When it happened, that was part and parcel of the industry. By today's standards, it's not, and many people are going down because of this societal change. Kevin Spacey has just been blacklisted, contracts cancelled, for a drunken night thirty years ago.

Heyyyyyy, there are some links here that might — oh.

Are you saying the situation described by the phrase "Missing Stair" is not a real thing? Because it is. The analogy perfectly describes my experience in high school with an overly affectionate teacher and my experience in boot camp with an inappropriate drill sergeant. The stair was missing but we couldn't do anything about it so we just told each other to watch out.

He wasn’t convincted of any child sexual abuse, iirc. The *investigation* was a dumpster fire, though. That is known.

I’m not sure I understand why your comparisons are valid, logically speaking. Could you clarify? Was he in cahoots with HW or something!!?!? Links? TIA

Respectfully, although it is not merited in this instance:

Have you ever been sexually assualted? And because of that assault, of which you are a VICTIM, had your career or family placed in harm's way?

Have you ever been raped but ashamed of it because of the culture of men who roll their eyes and claim that a woman who gets raped had to have asked for it?

Please do not presume you know what it is to be sexually violated, and then afterwards, be violated once again by people calling you a money grubbing extortionist.

That's fine. I was just confused why you replied to my post with the dates and the viagra information when it didn't seem to have anything to do with that particular thread of the conversation. No big deal.

You are mistaken.

I did not say anything about not liking something because of a warning, I posted a screen shot making it clear that the site was blocked. That means I can't go there, and that's perfectly fine with me. I don't particularly want to look at Perv-ocracy blogs.

My question was based on wondering who could have gone to authorities regarding sexual assault but instead accepted money, leaving the door wide open for decades of additional victims.

Who on the list of women in my comment did that? How many of them? How do you know they accepted money to be quiet?

Links to go with the names please. TIA.

Hm. You said you didn’t click on any of the other — msm — links once you got the “adult” content flag.

So, back on topic, how would YOU diagnose a “real” HW sexual assault victim using the DSM-5?

[emoji202]MOO of course!
