WOW, this is the worst thing I have ever heard. My heart goes out to her and her family. I truly hope they can heal from this.

Sorry for hijacking the thread just wanted to keep those who couldn't updated on the presser.

So Jaycee was just 14 when she had her oldest daughter. Poor baby.

I'm glad she is coming home to her mother and her family. May the angels stay with her!

and she had these children in that backyard or home. So most likely no meds.

So if the oldest is 15 then that poor girl gave birth to her at the age of 14… in a shed. What a nightmare. Thank heavens that campus cop trusted and acted on her instincts.

I wonder if she had access to a television or radio...probably not if they wanted to keep her isolated. The fact she was back there in that isolation makes me wonder how brainwashed she was.

I would say the reintroduction to her parents and family will be slow and steady. No doubt her family will have to go thru intensive, oh Lordy I'm using the wrong language here, but training to deal with this poor gal.

I don't know if this will be a complete happy ending yet, as she will need so much time to assimilate everything, but I'm so glad to see good news, instead of bad for a change.

Anybody know the street address for the perps? I want to look it up on Google Earth. thanks!

I wonder how much exposure she has had to the outside world these past eighteen years, it doesn't sound like much. So not only is she coming out of a living hell, she's coming into a world that is very different than it was in 1991. I can't even begin to imagine.

Thank you everyone for posting on the presser.

All I can say is that I am sending thousands and thousands of cyber hugs to Jaycee and her children.

Parole Officers Say Kidnapping Victim Accompanied Suspect to Concord Parole Office
8/27/2009
<snipped>
Investigators say the called Phillip Garrido in for questioning at their Concord office after U.C. Berkeley police officers spotted the registered sex offender close to children on the campus. Parole spokesman Scott Kernan says two adult women and two children accompanied Garrido to the office.

Parole officers called for help from Concord police when they couldn't identify one of the adult women. Eventually during the course of the questioning, Garrido reportedly confessed that the woman was Dugard.

Dugard and his wife Nancy were taken into custody. They have since been moved to El Dorado County where the initial kidnapping took place 18 years ago. It's unclear who now has custody of the children.

Parole officials say Dugard served time in federal prison in Lompoc on an earlier kidnapping charge then was transfered to a Nevada prison to serve time for rape. He was released in 1999. Officials did not provide details of the earlier crimes.

One big question that remains is what happened to Dugard while Garrido was in prison.

My heart is just aching. I've cried for so many of the children that these kind of MONSTERS have murdered...How do I handle the tears and anger for these MONSTERS who do something like this...Dear Jaycee..Hold your head up high and know that this was not your fault and know that the world is loving and embracing you tonight..:blowkiss:

i am glad she is home...

i feel so sad for what she has had to go through...it is unimaginable.

i wish there was some way to shield her children from the fact that they are from her kidnapper. i hope that they don't know that, i know they will find out, but i hope at least not yet. reports from neighbors said that one of the girls said they were all sisters.

i really wish that they would have asked what the circumstances were around a neighbor calling to say that they had people living in the backyard and nothing was found out then.

From Angel Who Cares' post .. the newspaper needs to fix their typos!!!

The one thing I hope comes from this case is that if there are other children who were taken years ago, and they see this they realize their families still love them and it is okay for them to come forward. That what has happened to them is a crime and not their fault, people do really care, and people are still searching.

That reporter who said something along the lines of "So Jaycee never made any attempts to contact her family? Was there a telephone in the residence?" really made my blood boil. This type of thing is NEVER the child's fault.

Unfortunately no...I work here on campus and basically anyone can walk into campus. School started yesterday, so there have been a ton of people on campus this last week. There are normally a few religious nuts standing down at Sather Gate or in Sproul Plaza handing out religious flyers or political propaganda.

If I find out who this great UC Berkeley police officer is...I just might walk down campus and give him a big hug!

With all the state budget cuts and furlough talk as well as lay-off's its nice to see that a positive story came from the UC Berkeley campus today!

The officer was a woman. Mother's instinct maybe?
