I know there are very simple answers to this.. It's such a frustrating cast though due to the vastness of the area and the kind of people we are dealing with. My personal belief is one or more of four people is guilty of harming him. I believe other people saw it but no one will talk and Law Enforcement is not forcing anyone to talk . No body . No car. No evidence. It's very simple and beyond frustrating for us though ...

:welcome: Peaceofmind. Great first post. I agree with everything you said. What we see in so many cases on WS is that if someone won't talk there is no way for LE to force it. "You have the right to remain silent..."
Unfortunately, there is a code of silence in Humboldt.

You probably can't say how you came up with "four" possible people, but I can ask. :) We can only use MSM here, so I'm not asking you to violate the rules. I'm just curious. If you are an insider, you can ask to become a "verified insider" which allows you to share more info (see link). Again, welcome and thanks for posting.

On another site I follow, I actually conversed with Mr. Joseph's brother briefly in 2014. He was saying at that time he could not get any LE agency to go check on Jeff at his property. A PI was hired due to this. His brother at least at that time believed his disappearance was related to marijuana growers, legal or otherwise, in the area. FWIW.

This isn't directed at you, Wendy. I'm just bouncing off your post. :) I'm quite sure LE in the area will not go check on a missing person in an area of marijuana grows. It's a common misconception on the part of families and some locals that LE "should" do this. I understand their frustration, but being a missing person is not illegal. It's an extremely dangerous area, so unless there is evidence of a crime, LE is under no obligation to risk their lives entering these properties. When LE conducts raids of illegal marijuana grows, they take a lot of manpower. Weapons are routinely found, even if the growers have fled.

I doubt they could even obtain a warrant to look for Jeff on that property in 2014. I have a vague recollection that they did eventually go to the property in 2015, but I'll have to look back through the thread to find out. I'm glad they hired a PI. I don't think any amount of money could persuade me to attempt to gain entry to that property and deal with Jeff's "business partners!" And by that time, any evidence that Jeff had reached that property would be gone.

There are a number of missing person cases in Humboldt county that I follow, since I used to live there. Without exception, they are connected in some way to marijuana grows, and they have been murdered. (In one recent case, however, the missing person was not murdered and escaped after several months. The WS thread was taken down because there was no MSM coverage.) Since recreational use of marijuana is still illegal in CA, anyone who is involved in the "industry" is putting themselves at risk. I certainly don't think Jeff was one of the "bad guys" but he clearly encountered some in his line of work in Humboldt. My heart goes out to his family.

MSM is Mainstream Media. That is legitimate news media, and leaves out blogs, personal Facebook pages and other opinion sites. For Humboldt cases Lost Coast Outpost is considered MSM, for example. Yes, if you have a personal connection to Jeff and his family, becoming a verified insider would be great. We will look forward to hearing more from you.

The remains found in Hoopa back in January are not Jeff. Another family waits for answers, as does Jeff's family. Arthur Ruiz III was 42 years old. This is an active investigation and the sheriff is seeking information.

There are three fires currently burning near Weitchpec which is where Jeff had property. Although fires are the last thing anyone wants, and we want firefighters to be safe, we can hope that firefighters in the area stumble across Jeff's remains.

Thank you Lilibet. I don't know what MSM is or what being an insider is. I am Jeff's sister and have worked tirelessly and built many connections via social media with some really good people in Humboldt but, if any of them know, they aren't talking. I believe i know what happened to Jeff and who did it but, i am guessing I can't talk about it. Jeff's story is alot more than people know and it literally could make a docuseries. sadly. We have an amazing homicide detective/PI on the case but, he graciously took the case pro bono and works it between his paid cases. So, this is going to take time. perhaps, you can let me know about being an insider and, what MSM means? Main Stream Media? thanks!!!

I know you aren't talking to me, but you are correct - MSM is main stream media. This means newspaper articles, tv segments etc. Comments from FB aren't classed as main stream media.

An insider is someone who has inside info on a case - they either know someone involved or are from the area. I will alert on your post and an admin may contact you to verify you.

Hi Everyone,

Peaceofmind is now a verified insider in Jeffs's case.

Please treat Peaceofmind with respect.

Remember Peaceofmind does not need to provide links to her posts and it's up to you whether to believe what Peaceofmind posts or not.

Thank you

Thank you! This may just be the year! How well do you know unincorporated Humboldt?

this is true.... however, things have changed in 2.5 years.

Has there been any updated information on the case. It seems to have gone cold? :coldcase:

there is an investigation underway but, it's very difficult due to geography etc

bear with me because this is all new to me... if you have any insight on the area etc; can read maps in very remote locations etc. they will be posted this weekend.
