Okay so regarding the 17 miles...that number came up because I found the website for the Little League that serves Valley Springs, and the fields that they play on were (I believe) 17 miles 19 miles, and 22 miles from the Fowler home. Maybe that's not accurate.

Where did the 6 mile field come from?

Where did the 6 mile field come from?

There's a baseball field 6 miles from the Fowler home. But just because it's a baseball field doesn't mean that's where the Little League games are held...unless the poster is a local who knows for sure that it is.

Been checking this thread everyday, hope they find the killer soon and be punised.

I still agree what this former FBI profiler said, http://fox40.com/2013/04/29/former-fbi-profiler-offers-insight-into-leila-fowler-investigation/
While there is no concrete information about a suspect, Rayfield’s experience says the killing wasn’t random.
“It would be rare that it was a stranger that committed this crime and I would think maybe even more rare in a community like that, in the middle of the street in a rural environment like that where the houses are on one-or-two-acre lots. I would think it would be somebody who has some kind of connection with the home,” said Rayfield.

Maybe I watch too much movies, maybe I overthink. But I still feel that this Leila's got killed was not a random crime, certainlly was not accidentally. I feel the killer know this family, if not a lot, little, killer must have some connection to this family somehow. Since this is an extended family, the chance of this is possible.

I hope it just turn out to be like someone in here previous say, a meth head randomly go into Leila's house try to steal stuff, and killed Leila because she saw him.
I rather know she died accidentally thay way, instead of someone purposely want to harm her. Leila's so cute, hope you in the heaven help the LE find the person who killed you.

Investigators Piece Together Suspect Profile, Wait for DNA Evidence

quote from article:
No other search warrants have been served other than at the girl’s home at this time.

In regards to the witness who had originally claimed to see a suspect last weekend, but then recanted her story, the sheriff said that some people like to feel involved and get attention.

Seem like LE are pretty sure that Leila's home is is the place that the crime taken.
Nothing new has been update yet...

Kind of like a Munchausen by Telephone ... no?

:dunno:

That is exactly what she is like. She was once detained by our local cops, who know her very well now, because she jumped inside the Fed Ex truck and when the driver started protesting, she tried to convince him that she saw someone plant something under the truck, and if either of them got out, it might blow up...and I think she believed it.

I'm thinking LE knows exactly who the perp is but are getting their ducks in a row.

Very odd the family has nothing to say, IMO. The father standing in front of the police station with LE giving updates and he has his hands shoved in his pockets. The wife/gf has to stick her hand in his pocket to hold it. Very cold and closed off. No tears or sobs either. Not digging him at all.

Agree.

I've been following pretty closely and I hate to ask this question but the answer is pertinent........ she was NOT assaulted prior to , correct ?
That just makes it all the weirder. Seems most of the ' reasons' ( grrrr ) behind killing a child, by someone outside of family, is to silence them after an assault.

There’s still no sketch of the man Leila’s 12-year-old brother says he saw running away.

I wonder why not?

I think since a few reports have stated that the brother "followed" the intruder for a short distance, that he may have only seen him from the back, and not seen his face.

There is still witness #3 who may have seen his face. I'm hoping so, and thinking this and the brother's info are what they're using to try to develop a sketch. But since witness #3 saw something a few days earlier, I can see where LE would be unsure if the person #3 saw was the intruder.

I posted my opinion early on - I don't think there was an intruder. Has it been revealed why these two kids were at home and not at the ballgame? I read somewhere there are seven kids - are they a blended family? I have not seen any statements from the parents - has anyone here? I have a bad feeling about the whole story especially now with the witness recanting. Did the person that picked up a bloody hitchhiker actually pick up a bloody hitchhiker?

LE says the murder was not random. If the murderer came specifically to kill the girl, did he bring his own knife? Kind of reads to me that LE thinks household knives were used. Sad sad situation for this family.

What had the kids been doing while they were home? Playing video games? Watching tv? I have not read anything. How long were they home alone? Many questions.

My initial thoughts about the neighbor woman not following through on the sketch was if I wondered if she had second thoughts out of fear for her own family. Not that she was making it up, crazy, or anything of the sort. I reported something some time ago and was called as a witness to court. Long before that court date I had people that was in the know ask me if I was afraid of this person coming after me (I was) and did I think I should follow through with it. I did but had second thoughts worrying about and hoping no harm would come to my own children, husband, or anyone really. To this day, and it's been years ago, I still have my guard up and am waiting for my payback because that's what they do. I know I did the right thing but sometimes the right thing can scare the socks off of you in many situations.
I read where LE said she didn't act like she was in fear but would you? I verbally let LE and the prosecutor know I was worried about those I love but would follow through. Many people don't trust LE enough to confide something like that in them.

MOO

Not sure if this will work. I believe the Little League field is just on the outer edge of Valley Springs town area. It is called Clay Pits fields. I am not 100% sure the address of the Fowlers, but it is 5 miles from Rippon Road and an 11 minute drive on Google Maps. A frantic parent can make it in quite a bit less.

ETA-OK...not sure that worked as I wanted it to. Let me try this:

WOW! This woman sounds like she could use some kind of mental health intervention!

Or... She may be bored... And needs a hobby!

maybe she should join Websleuths? :giggle:

Katydid-are you a local? You should get verified as such. We would love to have the local insight into the situation. While I am obviously not up for sleuthing this family, I think it is quite reasonable to sleuth this woman who inserted herself into this situation.

How close does she live to the Fowlers? Is she tall and thin with long grey hair that could look like a perp? Could she have gotten into the home? Does she have a strange spouse, SO or other family members?

Haven't we been down this road before??? These are victims!!!! Who cares what their "body language" tells you??? How should they act??? Their daughter had just been brutally murdered and I am quite sure they didn't have a lot of practice prior to this to make sure they "acted" in the right way a grieving family should act.

We all know full well that families act different ways when they are in shock, grieving, etc... Just look at some of the many photos and videos of the vigil that the entire family attended. If that is not a heartbroken and grieving family, I don't know what is!!!

Can you tell me exactly what the behavior of a grieving family should "look" like? If they are there and they say anything they are picked apart. If they are crying, they are overacting. If they don't show up...hmmm....wonder why not???

You don't know this family, you have never met them, so how do you know what their "normal" behavior is and why would should expect anything close to "normal" behavior from them when they have just lost that precious little baby girl???

{mod snip}

Most people do react the same. Compare Mark Lunsford to Hailey Dunn's mother - world of difference. Yes the parents are victimized by this tragedy but as of today no one knows who murdered poor Leila. IF IF IF there was no intruder then the parents have a trauma beyond imagination. I believe that people's actions/reactions emotions/lack of emotions tell a lot. You don't know either why the parents are not comforting each other - it could be the cameras, it could be things from their past. No one knows so don't slam the poster who wonders what it could mean.
