Wednesday, July 21st:
*Gun Restraining Order Hearing (@ 2:30pm PT) - CA - *Maya Millete (39) (last seen @ home on Jan. 7, 2021, near San Miguel Ranch area, Chula Vista & reported missing Jan. 9, 2021 by her sister). *Larry Millete (39) regarding gun violence restraining order on possession of guns.

5/10/21 Update: Judge Bacal ordered Larry Millete’s name & address redacted from the court records until a hearing is held on June 22. However, Millete's name is associated with the restraining order case number, when searched through the San Diego County Sheriff's Department website. During the June hearing, the judge will decide whether to make the gun violence restraining order permanent for at least 12 months.
6/14/21 Update: Chula Vista police have written 11 more search warrants over the last two weeks in the search for Maya. That makes 42 search warrants that authorities have written for "residences, vehicles, cellular & electronic devices, call detail records, financial records, social media & cloud data."
6/22/21: Update: A judge held a short hearing on Tuesday where he decided to push the decision on the gun violence restraining order against Millete to 9/14/21. During the September GVRO hearing, the judge will decide whether to return the seized guns to Millete, or to extend gun violence restraining order for up to a year, keeping the guns in the hands of authorities.
6/30/21 Update: In the past two weeks, CVPD said on Wednesday, they have conducted four new interviews, having spoken with 68 people in all -- friends, family members & other witnesses. Also, police officials said they had written a half-dozen new search warrants connected to the case & reviewed six news tips, out of nearly 100 they have received. 7/1/21 Update: Police confirmed a search warrant was served at the home Thursday. CVPD Lt. Dan Peak told ABC 10News the search was related to "additional evidence." Lt. Peak added that Maya's husband, Larry, was not arrested.” The goal of the warrant was to obtain additional evidence & clues to her current whereabouts.
6/30/21 Update: Initial appearances were made during a June 30 hearing. The attorney representing Larry Millete had a conflict & could not appear in court. The judge continued the hearing until July 21 at 2:30 pm, when a decision is expected on unsealing the records. Judge Earl H. Maas, III said he would allow motions on behalf of SDPD & Larry Millete to be filed under seal, pending a final decision on making the case records public.
7/15/21 Update: A mandatory mediation conference with Family Court Services is scheduled for all parties in the case on 8/3/21. It remains to be seen whether Larry Millete will be served the court’s notice in advance of the mediation conference.

“We agreed that we would not put up a fight for any of the information regarding Mr. Millete, his missing wife, that there is an investigation, that he is a person of interest,” said Brooker [San Diego Deputy City Attorney] in downtown San Diego court.

The GVRO records filed against Larry Millete had been sealed temporarily, before officers seized his entire gun collection on May 7 from his home in Chula Vista.

“That original sealing order had a time frame for it. It was not a sealing order that was intended to be in effect forever,” said San Diego County Superior Court Judge Katherine A. Bacal during the court hearing.

On Wednesday, at the request of News 8, Judge Bacal ordered the GVRO records should now be made public.

Other new information that came out in court, included a statement that San Diego County Child Welfare Services currently is investigating the safety of the Millete children, ages 4, 10 and 11.

“I have information that there is an ongoing CWS investigation,” said Deputy City Attorney Brooker.

A previous CWS investigation involving the Millete kids had been closed, but the current one is ongoing, according to Brooker.

In the end, the judge ordered all records be made public, with the exception of the photo of the child surrounded by the guns, which will be redacted so the child cannot be identified.

“The court finds that its sealing order has terminated, and will not enter a further sealing order, except as to the one attachment,” Judge Bacal said.

Per my notes - are these 2 hearing still a go - if anyone knows?

A mandatory mediation conference with Family Court Services is scheduled for all parties in the case on 8/3/21. It remains to be seen whether Larry Millete will be served the court’s notice in advance of the mediation conference.
During the 9/14/21 GVRO hearing the judge will decide whether to return the seized guns to Millete or to extend gun violence restraining order for up to a year.
