Larry has been using the "I'm doing this to protect the family" excuse from the start when he couldn't attend the vigil for Maya. He used the being a private person excuse, but also started spouting he had to "protect his family". The guns... to protect the family. Sounds foolish when he's the one being accused of killing a family member though. Not to mention, well okay I'll mention it, he's been harming his children for the last 9+ months starting with the ruined birthday celebration and the sorrowful memories of that date for years to come. Also, he's been keeping the children away from Maya's family, and suppressing them from possibly voicing what they know. Now, he's filling them with more insecurity and fear for the future and asking them to become involved in heavy adult matters. ALL MOO.

What a disgusting piece of...
How is he allowed phone calls in the middle of the night?!?
Given the fact that his parents let him talk to the children even though he was not allowed contact, I hope Maya's family will get guardianship. It is bonkers that they are still with those people spreading lies about their mother and her side of family. IMOThe amount of brainwashing that must be going on in that house is mind blowing. MOO

To be clear, LM is not allowed phone calls in the middle of the night.

From the links provided:

Q. When will my loved one be able to call me?

A. Incarcerated individuals have access to telephones located in the common area (dayroom) of their housing units. Under normal conditions, incarcerated individuals have access to these telephones for several hours throughout each day. Telephones are generally not available during meals or after night count.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — The husband of missing mother Maya Millete returned to court Wednesday after he was accused of violating a protective order involving his three kids.

During last week's arraignment, a judge ordered Larry Millete not to have any contact with his kids.

Prosecutors said since then, he's made 129 phone calls from jail, and that includes 9 hours’ worth of calls to his kids. They said the calls were made from jail at all hours of the day, during school hours as well as late at night. One call was made at 1:48 a.m.

@Seattle1 1.48am is the middle of the night.

Thanks, @Bogyo13 -- I stand corrected. And now wonder what type of unit LM is housed in where he was allowed outside his cell after night count? Manipulating staff?

From the video report at the link above --LM made 9 hours of phone calls to the children.

Blatant violation of the court protection order after even his parents can be heard in the background saying LM isn't supposed to be talking to the children.

Insisting his daughters watch the R movie to know what it's like for him in jail.

Unbelievable....

I believe much of what we are hearing about here has to do with jail conditions post COVID19 where revisions were forced across the country to accommodate mandates for all inmate visitation/contact by phone and/or video only.

It's big business -- outsourced, and I'll research who has the contract for Chula Vista/SDCJ inmates.

ETA: San Diego Jail annoucement...

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department will resume in-person and video visitation on October 15, 2021, at all Sheriff's Detention Facilities. We are pleased to welcome you back.

LM's housing area is designated: 3/MED

The Daily AM, Daily PM, and Daily Evening 30 minute video hours for inmates are published but seems "3/MED" is a special type of housing unit and not included. See link.

Detention Facilities | San Diego County Sheriff

Beginning July 1, all phone calls from San Diego County Sheriff's Department jails will be free. Local, long distance, and international calls are free. A person can make unlimited phone calls per day. To give everyone equal opportunity to use the phone, each call will be limited to 15 minutes.

The answers to many of the questions you may have about this new policy can be found below:

Important information about the San Diego County Jails and their inmates can be found on the San Diego County Sheriff's Department Public Information Plan.

All calls were recorded to anyone besides his attorney.
Perhaps he was given enough rope to hang himself regarding bail.
He presents as an emotional talker with control issues.
Be interesting how this goes forward.
Especially because he’s involving the children.
1:30 am? Yeah he’s panicking IMO

Exactly, why was he allowed the call? Perhaps the phone is in the cells due to covid? I hope the media is as curious as we are!
I am super curious what the conversation was about at 1.48?
It's such an erratic behavior, I can't imagine a judge granting bail, he is so dangerous! I fear for the children. His parents should have put the phone down imo when he requested to speak to the children. MOO

I signed up to get his court dates. Here's an email I received for upcoming hearings:

He is pathetic and so are his parents for allowing this. If they can't prevent Larry from contacting the children, then the children need to be removed and put under someone's custody who can actually care for them. They keep hurting and victimizing those poor kids, it's not just Larry, it's also his parents. This is not okay. Removing those kids from the Millete's seems pretty urgent in my opinion.

Well, Larry has now officially beat B. Morphew for most disgusting wife-killer.

They do have enough evidence to prove he's a public safety threat, a threat to himself, and a flight risk.

He never knew about the protective order?! Oh come on. Okay now LM has the hard copy.
Geeez. Let’s see how he does now only talking to his attorney.
She is going to be tested cause this guy is somethin ‘ else!

MOO

Agreed!!! I'm not a parent but I can guarantee that if a judge told me I wasn't allowed to contact my children, I wouldn't need a hard copy to remind myself.

His attorneys body language in this clip reads as lacking confidence IMO. I imagine he hates having a woman judge reprimand him. He fits the narcissistic personality disorder profile to a T, complete with ignoring a court order.
I also imagine his mental instability is increasing day by day. Comparing his time in prison to a movie is really out of touch with his reality. LM is definitely panicking as @BeachSky said. He cannot be alone with his thoughts and is spiraling out of control. This is right where he needs to be to crack. Moo

Why did he have such phone privilege's? Well, he blew it now.
If you can, watch the news video too. They say it was only five minutes in court. His parents report it is very hard for them to control Larry on the phone calls, and he has ended up talking to the children. LM has been way out of control for a long, long time and his parents seem to enable him, JMO. He is placing more heavy weight on children  that should not have to watch that movie and feel further insecurity about their future. Blatant disregard to the Judge's orders. Larry must be very scared now. Talk Larry.

Man charged with killing wife accused of prohibited contact with kids - (kusi.com) BBM

"Larry Millete, 40, who is accused of killing 39-year-old May “Maya” Millete, the mother of his three children, has made 129 jail calls since his arrest last week, a prosecutor said Wednesday."

"According to Deputy District Attorney Christy Bowles, Millete has spoken to his children — ages 11, 10, and 5 — during an undetermined number of the calls, which the prosecutor said happened despite a judge ordering him last week against having any contact with the children."

"Bowles said he has made “disparaging” remarks about his wife’s family in some of the calls and also suggested the two oldest children watch a prison movie called “Shot Caller” to better understand his current situation."

Short Trailer because I never watched this movie or know much about it. Oh no, it's not for children and will only worry them further.
Shot Caller Official Trailer #1 (2017)
right and i have seen the movie, its not about "a business man who goes to jail" thats only the beginning he ends up being the numero mero aryan brotherhood leader in that movie.

all inmates generally do, to call family but it can be restricted in cases like this. all jail phones are subject to monitoring. some inmates have illegal cell phones tho
I know illegal cell phones are common in prisons but in my opinion, SDCJ seems very closely controlled. In this case, LM clearly was speaking on a monitored phone at 1:48 AM call.

I think I'm more concerned about why somebody presumably in a medical unit (i.e., 3/MED) was allowed outside of his cell in the middle of the night.

You know he's really proud of himself here-- probably wearing this accomplishment like a badge.

MOO
