Taken from the bolded article: "I think I may have seen her walking," said middle school teacher Janette Goeglein.

About 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17, Goeglein said she was driving to a meeting when she saw a woman walking south on the road through Malibu Canyon. "I thought it's strange to see a black woman walking in the canyon," she said.

This woman, Janette Goegelin stopped to chat with Lattrice Sutton (Mattrice's mother) on Pacific Coast Highway.

This certainly must have been Mitrice. The article doesn't state what road she saw her on - just "the road through Malibu Canyon". So, the last known sighting was 7:30 a.m. Sept. 17, going south on the road. Geez...that was 14days ago. Doesn't look good.

Am I undestanding this right? She may have had bipolar disorder? And family was aware?

This was a college friend or something. She may have hid it from her family. The word "diagnosis" makes it sound official, but I know a lot of psych majors joke about reading their textbooks and pointing at the disorders after reading the symptoms and saying "I have that, and I have that, and..."

I am leaning more and more to something happening at the restaurant. I drove up PCH the other day, and in order to get to Geoffrey's from the South (presumably where she was coming from) requires a U-turn on PCH, a very busy highway. If you don't know the area, you'd be more likely to make the U-turn than go to the next light. No way she could safely do that if she was intoxicated before arriving. The highway is divided by yellow markers for several miles and if you look at the street view on Google, you will see a bunch of signs "U-turn for Geoffrey's! 400 feet."

bumping for Mitrice! Where is she??? Come home soon Mitrice!!!!

1~ did she have a purse and cell phone at the restaurant?
if so:
~is it in the car?
~does LE have it
further if so!:
~why didn't they give it to her before she left?

2~ without a car... since hers was impounded:
WHAT is LE protocol for releasing someone from their front doors? In
the hospital (I am a nurse) we don't just let people walk out of the
door! We either have someone pick them up, they drive themselves,
or WE CALL THEM A CAB. Releasing her without transportation or
personal belongings is NEGLIGENT TO THE MAX! With pending charges
LE is responsible for her whereabouts. I do not, in my wildest dreams,
see letting someone walk out into the night without money or
transportation as the SOP (standard operating proceedure)

ETA! from her family statement she had money in the bank to cover her bill... does this indicate that she was at the resteraunt without her purse? IF SO, WHERE IS IT? AT HOME? IF NOT HAVE THEY TRIED TO TRACE IT???

I wish she would have stated where in the canyon. The road is very long. The woman who saw her must have seen her on Malibu Canyon Rd/Las Virgenes Rd so walking back to Malibu.

At that time of the morning, there would have been tons of people that would have seen her and would have witnessed something as they were heading toward Calabasas. There is a pretty large shoulder on most of the road along the canyon I think, but I guess she could have fallen, unless nobody noticed her getting into a car.

very interesting blow by blow of what the release officer does and an example of a release agreement that Matrice most likely signed in order to leave jail on her own recog.

http://goingtojail.embassyofheaven.com/gotojail028b.htm page on how the bail process works along with release agreement (it is a help the helper kind of page.. first person if you will.. so disregard the jabs at the process if you can) did she bail out? I am thinking no.. just a release agreement on her own recog
if bail WAS the case she would have used a bondsman as her family did not mention it... in fact her mother said that this was not like her daughter and she stated that she would pick her up.. .no mention of bond...

~now kinda frustrated.. as there is nothing further that talks SOP for release (ie, how you physically get out of there if you have no ride, etc)

~off to look a little more

The inmate is called to the reception area. He is given back his street clothes, and any valuables which he entered the institution with. He signs out as a released inmate. He is then escorted to the outer door, and can either wait to be picked up, or walk away on his own. Depending upon the laws of the state, he may, or may not, be given a small amount of cash to get started with.

found something here.... I guess walking out into the night is usually acceptable (however her strange behavior, comments by her mother that this behavior was not the norm, and the fact that mother was going to pick her up are things that LE should have taken into consideration)

There are only two possibilities, she took a ride from someone or she fell. I did see on yesterdays news that lots of people on horseback were searching for her, I'm assuming they got the tip about the road she was seen on from her mother. What a tragedy - 15 days!

I read that they took the marijuana out of her purse that was in the car. I'm not sure if that is what happened, however, there is one interesting point to this story. The police themselves say that Matrice had no ID. She had no record. So no fingerprints on file I assume. Either way, where I live you can not be released on your own without proof of who you are. You have to have id or someone has to come and get you. Otherwise they can hold you as a vagrant.

So, no id, but she had her purse. Strange.

Maybe they looked up her CA driver's license and saw she was who she said she was.

this one is strange all around! I still say that LE personnel need questioned ASAP! What happened to her in the LE station between 830 pm and 100 am?

See I think that she had a purse. Maybe they just left it in the car. Maybe she had id in the purse in the car. The whole thing is strange. Stranger still are the new reports saying that the cameras at the police station weren't working, so there is no way to see how she was acting while in jail and no footage of her going in or coming out of the jail.

I really think that this is a case of carelessness. They could have put and 5150 hold on her but probably don't do a lot of them, because of the paperwork and energy involved.

However, Matrice's mom knew she was there and due to be released according to her at 4am. She supposedly told the officers that she thought that something was wrong with her daughter. Why didn't she just get up and go down there and request a 5150 hold. There are procedures to commit an adult. So she could have went and done it herself.

Sadly if something has happened to this young woman. The police are not the only ones who may have failed her.

The police are not the only ones who may have failed her.

you are so right (respectfully snipped and bolded by me)

there were multiple layers and levels within those layers, of negligence.

I watched a report on Headline news that stated the falmily had issues with her sexuality.
Maybe she had recently announced she was gay?

We believe we have her DOB: April 30, 1985.

The problem is the multiple release times from jail. So far we have seen 1:00 am, 1:25 am, and now 12:30 am. Which time was it and why can no one seem to get verified reports from LE??

Also, the alleged sighting(s) of Mitrice in the morning on neighborhood porch(es) is troubling. None of these reports have been verified.

Unfortunately, I do not know if we can get an accurate read with all these discrepancies. Accurate timing is critical in forensic astrology...

Sadly,
