Found Deceased CA - Rachel Nguyen, 20, & Joseph Orbeso, 21, Joshua Tree Nat'l Park, 27 July 2017 #1

I was at the park Thurs-Sat and while I did not see the couple, I did see the beginning of SAR. The photo (and subsequent Facebook) for Joseph Orbeso was originally reported incorrectly.

Rachel & Joseph (Joe) have been friends on facebook and knew each other before this trip.

As of this morning, there are no additional updates on the couple or where they may be located. All SAR efforts are done by foot, as no ATV or motor vehicles are allowed inside the park.

I feel horrible for these two. Every summer this happens in all the parks/deserts. People always underestimate the heat and what to bring. Praying for their safety.

Those pictures do not look like the same guy to me. IMO

One of the early missing posters used a picture of the wrong JO-- completely different guy with the same name. I can't keep it straight which one was the wrong one but it is back in this thread somewhere.

I did see that...but when you click thru his profile pics he doesnt look anything like the pic in the missing poster. IMO

I apologize ttc...of course you did :blushing: I just assumed the person reviewing his profile to only mention he is missing and assumed dead in the desert knows this to be Joseph, tho (it is wrong of me &) I should not assume.

Coincidentally, that house location is very near where their footprints appeared to cross over each other. Is it possible they decided to walk to that house for some reason, leaving the car behind? You know, because it was too late in the day to go back, thinking they could retrieve it the next day... Maybe JO knew who was renting at the time they had gone hiking. Indeed, something is amiss.

This is very interesting! I look forward to seeing it on the map to get a better idea of where it is in relation to everything else.

I believe I found the AirBnB featured in the video that the witness (EW) claims he saw RN and JO at after they were missing. It's really strange that police confirmed that JO and Javier rented this same house 2 weeks prior to that. I wonder if EW could have seen JO there with another woman at the earlier date (when JO rented it with Javier) and EW just didn't remember for sure how long ago it was?

I Googled this address where the shooting occurred and the AirBnB that JO reviewed in July, and they are 1.1 miles apart. Hmmm.

Reviewing the footprints...

...Trackers did find footprints nearby, but searchers found no sign of the missing couple.

“There were some footprints. We found them in sporadic places through intermittent areas through the park. One thing that will happen when people are in heavy heat stress, they’ll start taking off pieces of clothing. We haven’t found any of that thus far,” said George Land, Joshua Tree National Park spokesman.

Neighbors told CBS2’s Stacey Butler that Orbeso lives in Lakewood with his parents and attends Cal State Fullerton.

So, let's put some new info and old together. Joseph is an Armed Private Security Supervisor and his friend Javier is "deployed" to Japan currently (would that make him military? Hmmm..). Joseph and Javier stayed at an Air B&B together 2 weeks before JO and RN disappeared. Originally, the story was that they were scouting out some trails in JTNP (according to JO's dad) but when Javier was finally contacted in Japan he said they never actually went hiking in JTNP, they just checked out some restaurants in 29 Palms. Story of JO and Javier in JTNP went away after that. But now the question is, what were JO and Javier ACTUALLY doing that trip? Could they have been providing security or working some mission that the public wasn't supposed to know about? Could the previous trip have put JO and RN in danger when they went back to JTNP? Where do the drugs come in?
