Her family believes she became disoriented and that is why the car was parked the way it was. But why would she have been delirious? Lack of oxygen? Maybe that's why she didn't make any more distress calls. She may have been completely out of it.

This doesn't make sense. AFAIK neither asthma nor COPD would cause blood oxygen levels to drop to the level of affecting brain function. Nor would she be likely to have become sufficiently dehydrated as to become confused since leaving the motel, given that she was in a vehicle almost all day. I think it more likely that she became increasingly panicky as the day went on and that progressively affected her ability to think rationally.

I don't know but I'd make another search of the area. Across the road.....or any place she could have fallen and not been found.

The one thing no-one has mentioned yet is the river. Could she have ended up in the river, accidentally or otherwise, and her body be somewhere downriver? It looks to me as though she could have gone almost as far as Yuma before reaching another dam, and the map suggests there are a number of lakes and channels off the main course of the river.

I still think she was hitchhiking to get help/gas and was picked up by someone who ultimately harmed her. :(

Where are you Sandy?

I wonder if she had another pair of shoes with her? They found both flip-flops, I take it.
If I were going to walk an unknown distance to look for help and/or gas, I would change into shoes other than flip-flops if I had them on hand.
And I am a flip-flop wearing girl, until the snow falls, but I'd think better than to go on a long walk in them through the desert.
JMO.

I just did a quick read of the thread.. the only logical reason to get off the 40 and turn down the 95 would be to cross over to the 10.
It's a slightly shorter route to Alabama.
So assuming that's true and only one gallon in the vehicle she would have stopped for gas in needles, there are several gas stations right off the highway there.
What would help knowing is how much gas was in her vehicle when found. That's not mentioned. Maybe management of the tow company would recall. All that was missing was the car keys..what about the gas can? I didn't see it mentioned if it was in the trunk or not. And the cops didn't open the trunk?!. Why.. they just assumed a body wasn't in there?.. a blunder on their part but the 1st cop did do what he could. It must be haunting for him at times. I

or was lured off the road? Someone in a vehicle driving beside her pointing at her tire flagging her down like something was wrong.
A semi maybe?.. The amount of gas she had left could eliminate the hypothesis she ran out of gas again and open other avenues of inquires. Or if she was out of gas then yes.. the RVer helped her before and she probably thought she could just do it again.

Welcome to the thread icaremyself! We need some new insights and ideas.
This case haunts a number of people, I think.

I was on the Interstate today and was near empty. I never do that! And I thought about Sandy and how she may have been saying to herself (like I did today) I can make it! I don't need to stop and waste precious minutes. But I was lucky. I found a gas station and I had my card. So I can understand how easy it may have been for her to keep on going. [emoji853]

Possibly. If we knew whether the gas can was still in the vehicle we could hazard a guess as to whether she was picked up on the road or snatched from beside her car.

But we don't.

Nor do we know if the vehicle was low on gas (from what we know it sounds likely but it would be helpful to have that confirmed or clarified) or whether there was a fault with it that maybe caused her to pull over.

As a Brit the sheer variability of LE response in US cases simply astounds me. I don't know if it's an attitude problem or a training problem. It seems as though if you have a problem it's sheer pot luck as to whether local LE is prepared to get up off its arse or even knows its arse from its elbow. I suspect the immense fragmentation of LE doesn't help matters.

I disagree. What we need is new information. There is so little we know with this case.
Well, perhaps someone could go on the FindSandyGiles FB page and ask the questions. The family usually responds.

1). Did the trooper say Sandy put the gas can in her car. (Or did someone return it to the Oasis for her)
2). Just how much gas did Sandy put in her car when she was on the freeway.
Certainly the trooper would have known if it was enough to get her to Parker.
3). Did she have any money left after paying the tow man?

4). Was there a verified sighting of SG
in Earp. If so, what did they say about SG and the status of the car? (I have not yet seen that. However on the FB page someone in the comments
section said they knew who had seen the car and Sandy and they sent a name via PM to have them verify it).
I haven't seen any results about this
on the FB page.

There is a good deal of info out there but it is too scattered, disorganized
and unverified. (Or not reported on the official Sandy Giles FB which is the source I trust the most).

Can we form a list of questions and have those sent to the SG FB page?
Not under WEBSLEUTHS, but as concerned citizens?

Agree 100%. As a US citizen I believe its lack of training and money for training sadly.

the officer said she seemed disoriented iirc . could she have been despondent instead?
after running out of gas a second time..running low on funds, the unknown reason (argument?) leaving her traveling companion behind.. it could have all crescendoed and she walked off. She was 1 mile from a service station.. was it all open desert if she did not follow the road? I wonder how encompassing the search was? Did she have medication? Was it found in the car? Has the name of the tow company been posted on facebook?

the info on this thread has me a bit confused..
1. she was last seen standing by her car in essex
2. her phone only pinged in essex
3. her car found 1 mile from parker
4. what side of the freeway was the car heading?
I don't have a facebook to reconcile these inconsistencies/questions

Yes, we need to know if she still had gas in the car or if it was on empty.

She was so close to Parker.

I was in Quartzite a few month back and someone approached me for gas money. He actually wanted me to fill his tank with my credit card. I gave him $20.

I have to question the insanity of making a trip like this, out in the middle of nowhere for miles and miles without any money or credit cards for gas. How do people think they are going to make it? Yet this isn't the first time while taking that trip I've been hit up for money for gas or car repairs.

In lieu of FB, try this. It too attempts to put out decent and verified info.

ok I think I found where the car was parked going by the photo and the search party meet up site, "1st wash past the post office."
Figuring the 62 runs north towards lake havasu and south towards palm springs the turn out is south of the 'Earp Post Office144977 Aqueduct Rd' and on the east side of the road as is the post office. It's a large turnout and the car is parked or stuck straight in so can't tell in which direction she was going. The vehicle doesn't look stuck but it could be high centered, hard to tell from a pic.

Could she have pulled over to look at her navigation or her phone or something? I do that. She was coming to a crossroads and maybe wanted to check her direction, then got stuck. I really wish we knew if she still had gas or not.

I'm going to check with the local tow companies..they should recall

Spoke to the tow company..according to the employee I spoke with they never made a key, tried to start or check for gas.
After a 30 day abandonment process to gain legal ownership they sold it.
I assume to a vehicle auction house.
