I just listened to the episode and wanted to stop in to say she makes my blood boil! I’m sure I should muster up compassion for her severe mental health issues, but it’s difficult when I think about her husband and children (and also all the LE resources and public services wasted). Also - the boyfriend…it’s unfortunate that knowing LE was looking for her ferociously and remaining silent is not considered committing a crime, IMO.

But Keith didn’t file for divorce and sole custody of the children until right after she was finally arrested this year. I can’t imagine that they continued to live together after that LE interview though. She lives in Chico with his sister at the moment.

I have questions about this, too. In August 2020, Keith tells the police he doesn't want her around him or the kids yet he doesn't file for divorce until she is arrested 1.5 years later. In fact, she was with her kids at a piano lesson when she was arrested. So he took zero actions to divorce her or get custody until the public was made aware that she lied about everything. That makes it seem like he's more worried about their image than about the horrible thing she did. Even IF he separated from her as soon as he found out it was all a lie (and I have a feeling he didn't leave her at that point), he still let her be around the kids for another year and a half. His actions were different than what he told the police. I have to seriously wonder if he would have stayed with her if she hadn't been arrested and the public found out the truth. It's as if he was waiting to see if the police would ever do anything or maybe he was hoping they could just keep living their lives. He portrayed to the media that he was shocked and blindsided by the arrest. As if he hadn't known the truth since 2020.

I'm rambling at this point but there is something off about it.

Do we know if they lived together during the time between August 2020 and the April 2022 date Keith filed for divorce?

If they were living separately then I would consider that Keith waited for a conviction in order to gain leverage regarding things like custody, alimony and California communal property laws. I don't know for sure so it's just a thought. Maybe it also had to do with the 300k debt Sherri is ordered to pay back?

Some couples live apart for years before formally filing for divorce. But if they were living together as a couple for the one and a half years then yeah, it's quite a head scratcher. MOO.

I’m just getting back to the thread after having watched the story on Friday night. Her behavior was/is very disturbing. After that interview did they remain apart from that point on?
I'd love to know the answer to that. We do know that he didn't file for divorce until she actually got arrested in March 2022. I don't think he's as naive as he appears to be. He's a great guy, but he can't possibly be so naive.

Well, it's generally accepted that leaving/ending a relationship is the most dangerous time. Did Mr. hope he could ride it out with the kids until LE took SP into custody?

IIRC it was reported that SP is staying with Keith's sister? Do we know when this started?

Hard, hard, hard on the children no matter what!

Someone on Reddit said there might have been a legal reason, i.e. it would have been messier legally if he filed for divorce before her arrest. But that leads to another question. Why did it take so long for LE to arrest her after the interrogation? And why was she arrested on that particular day? Had something happened the day before? Sorry if this has already been answered.

I cannot stand to look or listen to her- so I don't. she is truly nauseating.

I must say that I find women like Papini endlessly fascinating (including Arias and Magbanua) - mainly because despite all of the brainpower and overthinking they put in to their scenarios, they simply are incapable of conceiving how transparent and obviously unlikely their story is. That is, they cannot see just how lame-brained they are. It's funnier for Papini because nobody died, but can be quite tragic. Papini is like the character in the old cartoon short, Commander McBragg. (If you aren't old enough, look it up!...so funny). "Quite"

I can't post the link because it's not MSM, but the SP interview at her home is up on YT. You can search for it and it should come up.

Thanks for the tip, Garden.
I watched as much as I could before I felt it was wasting my life.

Keith is just so obsequious, it got me thinking....
Either he's a genuine patsy, or he's playing some Jedi warrior, mind-frick, 3-dimensional chess with Sheri - gradually, ever so slowly and strategically setting her up to be hoisted on her own petard well down the road.
If it's the latter - It was beautiful and I say well done, my brother. Respect.

Tuesday, November 8th:
*Must report to prison (by 2pm PT) CA - Sherri Louise Papini (34 @ time of crime/39/now 40), whose kidnapping (11/2/16) & sensational return on Thanksgiving day, 11/24/16 captured global attention, has been arrested & charged (3/3/22) with making false statements to a federal law enforcement officer & defrauding the California Victim’s Compensation Board of $30K. (Paid victim assistance money based on her kidnapping story. From 2017 thru 2021, Papini’s request for victim assistance caused approximately 35 payments totaling over $30K, including for visits to her therapist & for the ambulance that transported her to the hospital after her return. No bond. Unsecured bond reset (3/8/22) @ $120K ($70K secured/$50K unsecured). Bonded out on 3/8/22.
Papini plead guilty (4/11/22) to lying to a federal officer & 2 counts of mail fraud. The plea agreement calls for Papini to pay restitution topping $300K. That includes $30,694.15 to the California Victims Compensation Board, which reimbursed her for things including visits to her therapist for "treatment for anxiety & PTSD" & for the ambulance ride to the hospital after she surfaced near Sacramento. She also will pay the Shasta County Sheriff's Office nearly $148, 866.23 & the FBI more than $2,558.35 for their expenses during the investigation. She also owes the Social Security Administration at least $127,567.60. Total is $309,686.33. Defendant further agrees that she will not seek to discharge any restitution obligation or any part of such obligation in any bankruptcy proceeding. Sentencing on 9/19/22.

9/12/22 Update: Papini should be sentenced to eight months in prison, prosecutors say. "A lesser sentence, such as the one month of imprisonment recommended by probation or home detention in lieu of incarceration, is not sufficient to achieve the purposes of sentencing," prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memorandum filed Monday in U.S. District Court for Eastern California. They also recommended three years of supervised released after time served. Papini’s attorney William Portanova said in a sentencing memorandum for the defense that Papini should be sentenced to a “term of no more than eight months with one month in custody & seven months of home detention under appropriate terms & conditions.” Sentencing on 9/19/22.
9/19/22 Update: U.S. District Court Judge William Shubb ordered Papini to serve 18 months in prison Monday, more than double the amount of time federal prosecutors recommended. Judge William Shubb ordered Papini to turn herself in to begin her prison sentence by 2 p.m. on 11/8/22. Shubb concluded that the sentencing recommendations from the prosecution & defense were both insufficient & said Papini would likely still be perpetuating the hoax had she not been caught in a web of lies. In addition to prison time, Shubb ordered Papini to serve three years of supervised probation when gets out & pay $309K in restitution, which the judge said will likely never be paid.
