Suppose the reason the perp was in the area was not because of HIS work schedule at all. We have had people suggest he was on his way to work and would therefore have been late that day. Yesterday someone speculated that he might work nights and have seen her en route home, when he'd have had 15-16 hours (at least) before he had to be back at work, so he would NOT be among people who have been reported to LE for being late. If it was the start of his "weekend" he'd have had several days.

Here's an alternative I have not heard mentioned...

Perhaps he drives someone somewhere on weekdays (or even just Fridays). I have a friend whose kids walk to school, except for the days one of them has to carry his cello. Those days he gets a car ride. Perhaps he has a spouse who he drops off at work so he can use the car during the day? In a case like this, he'd have been able to abduct Sierra and spend several hours with her, either (sorry in advance) molesting and killing her or passingher off to someone else, once he pitched out her phone.
Respectfully shortened
Maybe the monster was a nocturnal person (many teens, druggies and criminals are) and he was awake at 7 am because he hadn't gone home from his evening's "activities"?

another question - anybody got an answer?
Sierra had texted or called a school friend supposedly - the morning she went missing. The friend was supposed to bring something (I believe they said homework maybe) - possibly the friend left Sierra's clothes there for her or maybe Sierra left her clothes there for a friend to pick up and borrow?

It looks like the shed was used to store building materials. It may not be accessed regularly, but given that it was not empty, I wouldn't want anyone to place my belongings there because it seems possible that workers may access it at some point. I wouldn't want my nice bag and clothes to be stolen. If I wanted to borrow or lend clothes to/from a friend, I would just do it at school in person.

One thing your comment made me think about though is the possibility that Sierra placed the bag there herself after she was abducted. Perhaps the perp(s) made her get out of the car, remove her clothing, and place them in the bag to leave behind. Or maybe at some point, they pulled over by that shed and she deliberately left her purse there hoping that LE would find it. But, ugh, the fact that the clothes were folded and the way the bag was placed, it's a real head scratcher.

Me, too... while we have been told that "this is how kids talk nowadays," I don't buy it. The persona that is put out there could very well attract "the wrong types." She appeared to be enthralled with the gangsta culture. The Tumblir account was blatantly drug-oriented, sexual, mixed in with a lot of vulnerability. Whether it is connected or not, this is dangerous stuff to have out there in the open Internet.

I still think she knew who picked her up. The timing was too tight. The other 3 cases were of someone in a car in busy areas trying to lure a young girl, which happens way too often. MOO.

First time poster here. This post mirrors my thoughts. Has anyone ever seen the movie Havoc? It was the first thing that came to my mind and keeps nagging at me with every new detail that comes out.

"Influenced by the hip-hop lifestyle and seeking to explore life outside of their insulated, culturally homogenized suburb, pretty young teenagers Allison and Emily set their sights on East L.A. to experience the "gangsta" lifestyle firsthand. By the time the pair meet a ruthless Mexican drug dealer named Hector, some true-life Latino gang-bangers, and realize just how far out of their element they really are, it may already be too late to turn back."

LinasK I hear you....but you never know...I'm just saying. Is this something we know for sure? Or an urban myth? Anyway...no worries I don't even live in the country, what do I know?

Not an urban myth, it's true. Spent alot of time living/working in these areas.

Even if Sierra is found and a perp is charged...we may never know why the bag ended up where it did...only if there is a confession, which seems unlikely to me. It may end up being one of those mysteries that have theories but no real answers...unless of course Sierra is alive and knows why. JMO

You may be right about that.

Really wish we could get an update about the car. But, I'm hoping that no update at least means that LE has uncovered valuable information that is actually furthering this investigation that they just can't discuss right now. It would be so frustrating if that car lead them nowhere...

maybe a group of kids were going to LA?

So you think that she was what? Picked up from home on a motorcycle? I'd think that dogs would follow her scent further if she was not "sealed up inside" a car, and most of my friends who ride check the weather forecast first and it was supposed to rain March 16. So are you suggesting the Jetta belonged to another member of the "group of kids", and it ALSO came to her house that morning (as seen on cameras) and they "convoyed" to wherever they were headed? And that, somehow, though the Jetta was caught on numerous cameras and mentioned by witnesses, the motorcycle never was. And in spite of the weather forecast, she just left her stuff out in a cactus rather than asking the person driving the Jetta to put it in their trunk?

I think that the more people that are involved in a crime, the greater the likelihood that someone will tell what happened. I don't think there were multiple vehicles involved, but can't rule anything out.

Sierra’s mother releases Mother’s Day statement

Morgan Hill Times

Marlene LaMar, the mother of missing teen Sierra LaMar, released a statement today about the joys of being mother.

It reads:
“Mother’s Day is a time of reflection on what being a mom has brought to your life. Being a mom has been the greatest joy of my life. From the moment knew that a little life was growing inside me, there was an overwhelming need to protect and nurture my child. It’s not always an easy job. A child develops ideas of their own. Sometimes a mom might disagree because of personal experiences and wisdom. We hover, discipline and teach them to be responsible. We do these things because of our unconditional love for our children! I hope as mothers, we guide them to make good choices. Sierra is my miracle baby. I was told that because of my age, the likelihood of getting pregnant was slim. I knew she was going to be strong-willed the moment the doctor saw on the ultrasound that she was doing somersaults in utero.

“Regardless of the work it takes to raise children, the overwhelming love far outweighs those moments that you wonder how you’ll even make it through.

“The greatest gift that God has blessed me with is the joy of being a mom to two beautiful daughters. I love you Danielle and Sierra and I’m so proud to be you mom.”

Sierra, a 15-year-old sophomore at Sobrato High School and a cheerleader for the Black Diamond Elite club squad in San Jose, was reported missing March 16. Police think she was kidnapped as she was walking to her normal school bus stop near Palm and Dougherty avenues, about a quarter-mile from her north Morgan Hill home.

I've spent some time reading up on "human Trafficking" or "Sexual Slavery" and, while I agree that it is a World Wide problem, it is not a factor in Sierra's situation.

"Human Trafficking" or "Sexual Slavery" is broadly defined as any situation where ANY child (under 18) is involved in prostitution OR any adult is involved in prostitution "against their will" (including "psychological coercion"). Plenty of truly shocking stuff goes on as well as situations where the "victimhood" is less clear-cut. I see the whole mess as a compelling argument for legalizing prostitution (with appropriate regulation and taxation).

While any situation where a "normal child" is opportunistically snatched off the street and forced into prostitution would certainly be counted as "Human Trafficking" or "Sexual Slavery", there is no evidence that this is a significant factor. According to a U.S. Dept of Justice Report, about 115 "stereotypical abductions" of children (under 18) occur in the US each year (out of a population of over 300 million, this is a very small number); the motives are sexual, desire for a child and (rarely) ransom. Approximately 60 will be returned, 50 will be killed and 5 will never be found. That doesn't leave a lot to be forced into prostitution. I am not claiming that such a thing NEVER happens, but I can find no evidence that it has. It would be such an unlikely occurrence that I considerate it right down there with "Alien Abduction" as an explanation for Sierra's disappearance.

Snipped for brevity to point of my comment:

Don't think pregnancy has been mentioned yet in Sierra's case. It seems to always come up in missing person's cases, so it should be considered here as well IMO. If the clothing in the Juicy bag were a change of clothing that might support this...

Hmmmm....
Bag placed by mother cat with kittens...
A message she was pregnant?
Just typing out loud.

If SL was picked up by gang members for trafficking - WHY toss the bag? Unless, as someone else mentioned, the bag was put by the (tagged) shed to prove the deed had been done.

I think LE already knows this isn't the case or they'd be cracking down on every Hispanic teenager in Fremont wearing black and red instead of dragging lakes.

Why would you DUMP a bookbag? It's not a body - there are a dozen easy ways to get rid of it forever. You could burn it in a fireplace. You could put it in a normal plastic garbage bag and have it picked up with the rest of the trash - it would be gone forever. Tossing a phone (ripping it out of someone's hand and throwing it) is plausible. But evidence? It had to be deliberate.

Unless SL was harmed AT the shed and they forgot the bag. But dogs would have found a trace already.

:seeya: I agree ... the "JC Handbag with the neatly folded clothes" and the "School Books" keep on "bothering" me ... MOO ...

1st BBM: That seems like an "odd" place for "gang members" to place the Handbag and School Books ... From what I have read about the area around Sierra's home, I am "guessing" that "gangs" would be very noticeable and the homeowners and businesses would want LE out there cracking down on these "gangs" ...

2nd BBM: I agree ... those items could have been tossed in a dumpster, in the trash ... anywhere ... It makes NO sense for a "perp" to leave a trail, especially sooooo close to her home ...

JMO but I believe that the JC Handbag was PLACED there in order FOR it to be FOUND -- "staging" IMO ... and I believe that it was placed there to make it LOOK LIKE like Sierra was "abducted" WHILE on her way to the bus stop, which we know she never made it to the bus stop ...

JMO but I think she was taken directly from her property ...

new searches peeps:

Authorities are conducting another search for clues in the case of a missing 15-year-old Morgan Hill girl.

The new search comes just days after investigators found what could be a key piece of evidence in Sierra LaMar's disappearance. They recovered a red sedan that was seen in the area where they believe Sierra was abducted near her home on the morning of March 16.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza says searchers are focusing Friday on open fields and construction sites in south Morgan Hill. He says dive teams also are combing two reservoirs in the south San Jose area.

There have been a lot of documentaries and specials about this topic, actually...they tend to re-air them on MSNBC and sometimes CNN on weekends...JMO

Sadly, I think many citizens just do not watch the programs about human trafficking. They see the subject as perverted and ugly, but a problem that doesn't concern them because it happens "elsewhere."

(I apologize if this post lands in the middle of a completely different discussion. I am usually behind in reading, so my posts often show up out of topic.)

The bag is the thing with me too...that is why I think it is possible it was put there on the way back into the area after leaving Sierra elsewhere, as in the guy suddenly saw it was still in his car and he had to do something with it. And if so, he probably does live in or near Morgan Hills, first, to know about the dead-end street, and secondly, to be coming back thru there and needing to get rid of it before he got home.

It's possible cars could have been switched at some point; maybe after that her bag was discovered still in the car.

I'm still not convinced the bag was a plant or was placed. It could have been, but could just as easily have been thrown and landed that way. Unlikely but not impossible.
