Santa Clara County Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza says searchers are focusing Friday on open fields and construction sites in south Morgan Hill. He says dive teams also are combing two reservoirs in the south San Jose area.

RBBM: :what:

Whoa ... construction sites are being searched ... now this is "interesting" ...

:silenced::moo::silenced:

Perhaps the car was connected to a transient construction worker? Or one of the workers walking through her neighborhood that we were all talking about? Mo

I'm actually really surprised if they haven't focused on such sites before now - both types of areas are fairly common dumping spots.

All JMO

Maybe LE did find evidence in the car? Then followed the driver's cell pings? Can they work that fast?

Especially interesting since mom's BF is in the construction business. Long ago, I wonder if she was snatched by someone who came by to see step dad. Construction workers are notorious for beginning work early.

And my streetwise young friend essentially reinforced your son's comment. When I asked him about the black hood and any significance to that, he said they were just trying to make the car look "Fast and Furious", referring to the movie. (Fast cars, etc.) He also said that Sierra came from a location in Fremont that is very well known as a hub of gang activity. He said that when you take her ethnicity in to consideration, a probable scenario is not too difficult to figure out. SO, all that streetwise input taken in to consideration; WHY *did* Sierra move/have to move to Morgan Hill? In there, I believe, is the answer as to why she has disapeared. And I would strongly suspect her mother already knows the answer to that question.

My sons grew up in Fremont and I always thought we were in such a safe city. Not.
When they were teens I found out just how many gangs there were in Fremont and alot of gang activity. Especially around Central right down from where Sierras school was. Also in the Irvington area. One of my sons attended Sierras school back around 2002.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sierras parents moved her away from there to get away from the influences.
Now we live in Hayward, which is even worse but nowhere in the Bay Area is safe from gangs anymore. It's just some cities are better are keeping a lid on it - especially more well to do cities like Fremont.

Do they have someone in custody or did they find his cell phone? That would be great if he left something behind they could identify. jmo

I'm very interested in the fact that LE is thinking that Sierra could still be alive, what would lead them to this thinking? If the red car is indeed connected to her abduction, and nothing that would lead to anything forensically found inside it, such as blood or any biological material, decomposed material, etc, could this be why?

I'm afraid sex trafficking is alive and well in the U.S. and girls are snatched on a regular basis for it. It is America's dirty little secret that nobody wants to talk about.

There are known groups in the Bay Area that are trafficking as we speak. Moving mostly girls on a regular basis.

Well said. The agency I work for (not far from where Sierra disappeared) manages a Human Trafficking rescue and education program - and I have to say I'm glad I don't work that program. Sad, sad stuff and it happens MORE than you think, and it does happen to otherwise "regular" girls.

I find myself back here asking pretty much the same thing I did when this case "broke."

"What fields are around here?"

"What buildings/highways or construction is taking place in this area?"

The fact that SD works in construction came much later, but still is a huge flag for me.

Really urks me that they LE is checking these things out now. Really does.

Just a thought...
Maybe the owner/driver is now already in jail for unrelated charges?
LE may have him or her in their hands as we speak/type!

Wonder how closely the BF has been watched over the past few weeks.

:waitasec::waitasec: . :dunno: . but I sure wish we knew ...

He has never spoken :silenced: a word publicly about Sierra ...

JMO and MOO ...

if she hopped on the back of a cycle she would have had to of left her purse and bag behind...

Since we have faily few clues.. I appreciate new ideas like this one.
I had not thought of the perp as riding a motorcycle before now!

WELCOME DLUKE!!!

They may have him, and he may have already been in jail, we don't know, but, think about the possibility that if the owner of the car was already in jail before Sierra went missing, then who other than him/her would have had access to that particular car?

Can a local comment? When they say searching south Morgan Hill, do they mean city of Morgan Hill proper, or, is San Martin, on into Gilroy, also considered by some to be 'Morgan Hill'??
thanks

They should have looked at construction sites both present ones and those now completed whether Rick is in construction or not.

Many perps have used construction sites to discard bodies and they werent even construction workers.

It sounds like they think the person may be a drifter and some will work a day or two for a construction company and then move on.

Not sure where drifter would fit in...LE has said this is a local case all along, if I am not mistaken...
