Not that it matters in the scheme of things, but that's a little brother ;)

I know ... they all look alike at that age, LOL.

Thank you! For some reason, I keep getting that wrong. Maximus is a boy.

I have to wonder if the perps staged and planned a robbery knowing there would be a lot of money made at the sale. Did the perps stage a purchase of something large saying they had to get or rent a large vehicle to transport their purchase and then arranged to go back later at night, under the cover of darkness with the actual intent of robbing them of their money from the sale? Did the robbery go awry and AL got into a scuffle with the perps, getting injured? I assume the perps abducted KL and Nathan because the perps feared they wouldn't make a get away as KL would have immediately called 911 as they tried to flee. Were they afraid she had gotten their plate # or description of their vehicle and/or the perps themselves? Possibly their intent was not to murder, just rob and when things went beyond their plan, they panicked and took all witnesses. Knowing AL was critically injured, they knew if caught, their charges would go from less serious charges of robbery to murder, therefore they weren't taking any chances of leaving any evidence/witness behind. JMO

I hope LE have checked out all moving vehicle rental companies and local people pay attention to any such large moving type vehicles which might be left in random or unusual, suspicious places. Such a vehicle might just hold the victims.

Could someone explain to me why they believe the perps may have crossed the border into the US? What would the purpose/logic of that be? I guess anything is possible but seems in many of these bizarre case which happen close to the US border, people always assume the perps flee to the US. This was immediate speculation also in the Stafford abduction, Tim Bosma disappearance and a few others cases. As these cases turned out, it's obvious no intent was to cross the border, just saying. These perps have no intention of getting caught and to cross the border is a good way of getting caught typically. Not that I'm trying to deter anyone from that sleuthing out that possibility it's just I don't understand the reasoning behind it other than two of the victims had intended on moving across a border.

Respectfully I know we are sleuthing here, but I find it troublesome when some suspect their is a hidden motive involving other family members or that the victims invited such travesty. Personally I want to believe that those are not the intentions and we just have a couple of sickos out there who sought out this couple to rob them of their money and used this estate sale as the means. Again JMO.

Praying and holding onto the hope the victims are found safe. The pressers make me hopeful LE are about to make arrests and/or blow this case wide open.

Swedie, imo because you can cross into Mexico from US, but not from Canada. Once you cross the border, you can get very deep into Mexico.

Quite a few years ago, there was a parental abduction, where a mother took three children, I think they were triplets, and was living in Mexico with them for quite some time before she was found, IIRC.

The family was from Stratford, Ontario, but the mother managed to get into Mexico with her three children.

imo

BBM Otto was there mention neighbours had surveillance? I noticed on the front door of the victim's house there is a BML Security Inc. sticker and also in the front yard, near the steps (flowerbed), there is also a sign/notice from the same surveillance company posted. Interesting to note that in some of pictures I have seen, of the one posted by the stairs leading up to the house, it is blurred out. I did see one which wasn't in the first thread though. Cannot find it now though. Make me wonder now though, had the perps been to the house earlier in the day, had they not seen those signs? Does anyone know, would it be possible for the home owners to sell their surveillance system? Is that a possibility? Could the perps have bought it putting it out of commission making their robbery later that night easier to carry out? MOO.

I think what happens it that people purchase a security system, they move away, the system stays behind, and the new owner doesn't subscribe to the service. I think it's so common that the signs don't really have much impact anymore. Also, if someone saw the signs, they may have looked around for interior motion sensors and window sensors to see if a system was actually working. An easy way to figure it out would be to pick a window with a sticker, open it, and see if the alarm goes. Another possibility is that the system was disabled for the estate sale, and it wasn't yet armed for the night.

During the press conference today, security cameras on neighbouring properties were mentioned, and it was also said that there was another search of the neighbourhood. I wonder if that includes the field and slope next to the river.

BBM - If the Liknes' had bought a new home in Edmonton, as per Jeff Liknes their son at the presser yesterday, then why were they selling the contents of their home anyway?

I feel really badly for these folks.

CCTV footage gives police lead on missing Calgary boy, grandparents

We’ve had good information and it has assisted us with advancing this investigation,” Mr. Andrus said Thursday.

CPS has “no suspects that we can name...but we have information that’s allowed us to move forward with this investigation.”

Zoong Nguyen attended the sale. She did not see anything of value, and confirmed the Liknes couple appeared to be selling everything.

“The furniture was old,” she said. “They were still using it.” The items appeared to be from the 1980s, she said, and the interior of the home had not been renovated. She did not see Nathan at the sale, although family members said he was there, badgering his grandparents to say “thank you” to people who purchased items.

“I really want to help find them,” Ms. Nguyen said after speaking with police at the community centre. She provided her fingerprints to police. She said she did not buy anything at the household sale.

This is beginning to look hopeful..

"CALGARY – Calgary police say closed-circuit video and tips from the public are bringing them closer to understanding what happened to a missing five-year-old boy and his grandparents.

But homicide unit Staff-Sgt. Doug Andrus said investigators still don’t have any suspects they can name.

“We have no suspects we can name, but … we have information that’s allowed us to move forward with this investigation,” Andrus said at a news conference Thursday.

“I think everyone here, first of all, wants to ensure that we do a complete and thorough investigation. We identify the people responsible and we hold them accountable and I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that.

“Are we closer than yesterday, I would say we are.”

I highly suggest anyone closely following this case, watch the CTV footage of the presser. There is ALOT of info in it and you will get a sense of the direction the case is heading.

The journalists asked some good questions.

I would like to know if the public is at risk from predators or if they feel this is an isolated case?

Darn I missed it. Do you know if it's available to view online somewhere?.......the entire presser not just snippets of in the media? Thx.

Did the Liknes' ever attend the Century Casino in Edmonton?

I have been wondering about the gambling/casino angle for a while now.

Finally caught up and ready to chime in :)

I've had many garage/yard sales over the years. In my experience, the whole weekend of a sale is consumed by constant talk of what's been sold, what still needs to be sold, and how much money has been made. IMO, if the daughter was at the home, whether during or even after the sale, these things would've been discussed and she should be able to answer some of these questions. Also, there's always the question of "what do we do with the things that DIDN'T sell?' IMO, there had to be a plan...donate, give away to friends or family, SOMETHING. I've even had flea market dealers show up hours after the end of a sale and offer to buy all the leftovers at a rock-bottom price. I just wonder if LE has the answer to these questions.

I was just wondering who the biological mom is to the oldest son (L, parents RO and JO) and if she has a relationship with him and if she is on good terms with RO and JO?

Looking through RO's FB photos, it is clear he adores his sons.

I agree, however what I have come to know within myself is that I often judge women in these situations. In another Canadian case TB, I convinced myself that SB was involved based on the way she acted o ncamera, however that was not true. There is another Canadian case, JB and in this case his wife and children acted VERY off on camera, and I judged her, but to this date, there has been no connection to them as suspects or anything like that.

Now the thing that strikes me about KO is that she speaks of her son in past tense, the father does not.

I was thinking of the same case. I too ate crow.

I am not able to see comments on my mobile. Can you pls give us a hint?

Someone says the couple was giving out their address and info of the estate sale at a casino in Edmonton

ETA--Also there were a couple other missing people out of a casino who were later found dead. (different casino)

From what we know so far, imo, it doesn't seem like whatever proceeds there were from this estate sale, fit with an abduction of two people (adults) and a child from their home, against their will.

After looking at the kijiji pictures, it didn't appear that there was anything of great value that would bring in thousands of dollars, unless there were more items of greater value that were not advertised on kijiji.

imo

I don't know, it's all so weird.

LE is asking for photos of items sold to help determine what might be missing, and I don't buy it. The timeline said the family left at 10pm after a day of helping out. If that's true, they already know what, if anything, is missing if it's something of value. IMO, LE is looking for the person who bought a specific item or they are trying to establish an independent last sighting of the three missing persons. Of course, I could be wrong and it's all a smokescreen for the real angle LE is pursuing.
