Could the fourth child of AL be CL? Maybe there are 2 CLs, brother and son. Seems like a big age difference between AL and CL ~20 years.

Indeed! This reminds me (not sure if anyone mentioned here before): Regarding DG's 1992 drug charges:

"The same document says Garland suffers from attention deficit disorder and had attended medical school in Alberta for one year before suffering a mental breakdown.

"Garland told the court at the time he had been traumatized after causing what he described as a horrific accident after falling asleep behind the wheel."

This is becoming all the more interesting! And if Garland indeed was the driver of the half ton truck in the accident that killed Matthew Kemper Hartley and his sister, it would make a lot of sense that he later assumed Matthew Kemper Hartley's identity--maybe partly out of guilt.

What's happening out there today? Are LE still on farm or have they wrapped that up? Are the tents still set up? DG still in custody?
 
Not to be negative I'am wondering if the garbage dump on the outskirts of SE Calgary has been checked. I think it would have been easy for the POI to stop there on his way back home. I'am sure there are cameras at the city landfill.

CTV Calgary tv news is reporting that the property search continues this morning and that DG will appear in court today on unrelated and unspecified charges.

I've said before my theory ...money...I think it was someone they definitely knew...and I think if DG is involved...it was to help....after the fact....I found the wording on several of the earlier news reports very odd...when they were taking statements from one person who was on the scene very early....just seemed off to me...I don't want to go pointing fingers....but....it's bothered me from day 1....

As for NO's parents....my gawd...I cannot even imagine...The press conference.....broke my heart....Dad totally breaking down...and Mom trying so so hard to stay strong....I think she must be a rock in that family....for her kids especially....I think when she spoke to NO...she didn't want him to worry about HER...but that Mommy was waiting for him to come home....and that everything would be okay.....This whole situation just tears my heart in pieces....

On another note....as for DG....he sure seems fixated on the child he stole the identity from...twice now he's been caught using that SAME person as a cover *would being caught once not make him completely change to someone else's ID if he planned to use a fake one again?!*.....OVERLY fixated....I wonder who was driving the other vehicle when those children were killed.....

Not to be morbid...but a thought crossed my mind *only if there is a worst case scenario*....I wonder if LE has thought to go to Cardston....with DG using that childs ID more than once over a span of decades...I wonder just how obsessed he is......I know the children are buried there....ghoulish I know...but a cemetery is not where most would look for anything....
We had a case here a few years back....& it was horrific but people do strange and horrific things.........beyond imagining....

Why do you think he is obsessed? I don't see it that way. He had an opportunity to steal identity and was quite successful with it. He went back to using it because it was easy - nothing to do with being obsessed with a child?

Maybe 'obsessed' is a strong word....I couldn't think of a better one. The way I was thinking about the stolen identity...if you are caught once....it wasn't really successful...would someone chance it again with that exact same ID? I wouldn't think so....but as I said...it's just my opinion...Like I've said before...I could be WAY off....just trying to make any kind of sense of any of it....

There is not a single, rational, reason why a grown man would steal and use the identity of a deceased child, one whom he was possibly involved in his death.

It is wrong and twisted.

Does anyone find it strange that a couple in their 80s is camping? My mother is 78 and certainly would find it unbearable to go camping.

But I guess everyone is different.

I agree Mara, I don't look at it like he was obsessed with the child, I look at it like he enjoyed having access to another identity that he could use when he needed too.

Even if he is not involved with his death *we don't know that at all I was only wondering after statements about him causing a crash...can't remember the exact words* .....even if he was not...it is wrong & twisted. And now to use it yet again? Beyond words to me anyways...

If he indeed was the driver that caused the death of Matthew Kemper Hartley (and his sister), and felt extremely guilty ("traumatized after causing what he described as a horrific accident after falling asleep behind the wheel"--again if the two accidents, one involving MKH, one involving DG, were the same accident), then there is the possibility (might make some sense) that he felt so guilty that he thought by assuming his victim's identity he made him (MKH) continue to "live on"; of course it also helped him hide as the culprit of the accident, like "I'm dead"---"DG is dead, MKH lives on".

agreed. We've heard many times that DG carries a high intelligence, why do something so stupid? I've said this before, but MAYBE he was also interested in stealing the L's id's as he's obviously into that kind of thing. It was replied to me that this theory was unwise considering the link he has to the L's, but maybe he can't help himself in this department. Maybe he's addicted to stealing peoples identities.. who only knows what he's doing with them.
