"Anywhere from Dec 22 (pm?) onward, but IMO it would have to be a conspiracy between the two people who saw Audrey on a regular basis. I shall try to keep an open mind in that regard Chorley. (IOW, BOTH LV and PK would have to be lying ... because one couldn't say she'd been there Boxing Day, and the other couldn't say they talked with her on Christmas Day)."

Yes the above would be correct in that scenario turns out to be true - thanks for keeping an open mind it is not as though as I want to be correct though!

Cake recipe here on WS - is a different, less attractive interpretation possible?

"I got the impression the dogs were found in pretty good shape, but can't really see that being the case if confined for 8 days without food and water (unless "confined" only meaning inside the house)". My scenario involves Audrey having a visitors or probably, visitors I mean overnight and against her will. They wanted....something whether in the house or something on the computer or in her head. Hence the stab wounds, the "extra injury" we are not sure about, bruises from blows and I believe it was said "other injuries". But now I have to ask myself....why the coat?

Remember LE tested the dogs I believe - I do not think we know the result of those tests?

Here's something else we need to question:

from Jan 1 2011:
http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/2011/01/01/slain-ancaster-woman-never-a-bother

Gleave had two big and "mean" German Shepherds who she would lock up when Sharp and his wife, Margaret, would visit.

Did they always just "visit" at the end of the driveways? (Remember, Audrey had an invisible fence installed, so that should have prevented the dogs from following her to the end of the driveway). Sounds to me as if they also visited at the house (whether inside or out?)

On another note:

from Feb 8 2011:
http://www.thespec.com/news/local/a...ey-gleave-s-murder-and-neighbours-are-anxious

In the last month, Gleave’s Indian Trail house has been sold in an estate sale. Neighbour say the lights are on in the home all the time now.

So we were right in our much earlier discussions ... the house was sold long before the end of February !!

Cake recipe here on WS - is a different, less attractive interpretation possible?

Don't quite understand your succinct question Chorley .. but you know me, I'll respond at length anyway :floorlaugh:

Bear with me dear ones, and apologies to whomever I may have promised to never discuss cake again :blushing:

Perhaps PK can clarify for us where he got the specific recipe that he posted on Pg 1 of this thread. Okay, i'm being nit-picky here, but we WSrs are annoying as all get out in that regard.

It was PK who initially referred to the cake as a "bunt" (sic) cake "Texas Stoellen" from Time Magazine's series of books from foods around the world" in his post at:

Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - Audrey Gleave, retired teacher, viciously murdered in home, Ancaster Ontario, #2

At that time, and based on his post, I did an internet search for "Texas Stoellen", but there were no hits with that spelling:

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&tbo=d&s...pw.r_qf.&fp=a8f382f1205a7bfc&biw=1280&bih=575

A search for "melting pot" and "foods around the world" and "texas stoellen" brings up nothing:

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&tbo=d&s...pw.r_qf.&fp=a8f382f1205a7bfc&biw=1280&bih=599

Batting zero at that point, I did a search using "melting pot" and "foods of the world" and changing "stoellen" to "stollen" but none of the 3 hits that came up provided the actual complete recipe (just reference to ingredients):

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&sugexp=...qf.&fp=a8f382f1205a7bfc&biw=1280&bih=599&bs=1

I googled "Texas Stoellen" and "Time Magazine" ... nada:

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&tbo=d&o...74,d.cGE&fp=a8f382f1205a7bfc&biw=1280&bih=599

and "Texas Stollen" and "Time Magazine" ... again nothing:

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&tbo=d&s...74,d.cGE&fp=a8f382f1205a7bfc&biw=1280&bih=599

I subsequently found (and posted November 8 2011) the only complete recipe I could find using the search term "Texas Stollen", which was "Cooking Around the World ... Texas Stollen" ... which follows:

http://www.oocities.org/heartland/grove/3928/MeltingPot42.html

That link/recipe I posted Nov 8 2011 is the same complete recipe that PK has recently provided us, although his is in a different format than that which appears at that one and only site I could find that contained the complete recipe. FWIW, it is not a bundt cake, it is referred to as a "ring".

As a former Ontarion having grown up (and out) in Kitchener on German cuisine, I happen to know my bundt cake from a hole in the pan , and the stoellen (which from my ancient upbringing WAS the correct spelling) in that recipe is not considered a bundt cake as it is baked on a baking sheet. The only way a bundt cake becomes one is to be baked in a bundt pan (it is the name of the pan, not the cake).

So, my question to PK is, where did you get the hard-to-find recipe that you posted to us?

:floorlaugh:Even I shall not refer to the cake - bundt or otherwise - again. :floorlaugh:

The timelines are still confusing, I'd say. :waitasec:

About the cake - I think PK gave us the exact reference to the recipe - to Time Life Books I think Foods of the World 1971 - I did check Amazon there is such a book - did not check the reference though, the exact recipe.

It is an very old recipe for a young guy and Time Life books kind of kitschy- you know what it can be like to cook or bake from old recipes, times do change - but I got the impression that this was a favourite of Audrey's hence the exercise of baking the cake it was a request(?). As with everything to do with an intimate of Audrey's I don't trust 100% that any of this happened - it probably did but not trusting anything for now.

But Audrey just got a brand new convection oven. She could have done the baking herself, weeks before she was "under the weather". (Notice I didn't use the C-word nor the B-word for the dessert!). :)

Csziggy, brilliant sleuthing! I continue to wonder if either of the former marriages holds the key to what happened to Audrey, or set in place her premonition. If not, the next best theory, which I think I see taking shape on the last couple of pages on this thread, is a connection to the Boxing Day visit to and soup delivery "last sightings" by LV of Audrey. A question with growing importance is as to whether Boxing Day was an actual gathering of several people, or the usual 9:30 coffee get-together? Could someone there have followed or accompanied Audrey back to her home and set the chain of events in motion? If with LV's knowledge, the December 27 soup delivery takes on some interesting implications, especially keeping in mind the email messages with Amazing Grace, and the contradictory intention around getting to the coffee klatsch.

(I am more and more convinced that DLS and PK were 'set up,' in this scenario.)

Two years and counting.

Oh wow - we have another person interested in Audrey's case! Welcome to csziggy!!:great:

Regarding the Boxing Day visit with LV, I have a few questions/comments:

- I always had the feeling that it was only LV and Audrey who spent Boxing Day together

- if LV and AG were with other guests, who could they have been?

- how could Audrey have been well enough to go to LV's house and then the very next day need soup from LV (given Audrey's desire to never spread germs)?

More questions:

- who ordered the cremation so quickly?

- why did LE allow the body to be cremated so fast?

I couldn't find anything about the marriages or the former husbands. The only other "Bohnarts" with that spelling are two brothers with their wives who were listed on the 1957 voter's lists in Hamilton, Ontario. There are a lot of Bohnerts that show up all over Canada at different times, but none that are ever indicated in a marriage to an Audrey. I did find an "Audrey Bonner" and husband but it was in one of the same years that Audrey was living with her parents so I discounted that one.

Blake is too common a name so without a marriage record or some indication of the husband's name, I can't go farther. FamilySearch.org is very weak on Canadian records, at least for my searches for Audrey. They don't have a single Doveika in Canada, for instance! Of course many recent genealogical records are scarce for privacy reasons.

I also found Audrey's obituary which is incredibly thin on information. Not one relative was listing. Maybe she had no surviving relatives, since her parents were dead and it does not look as though she had any siblings.

What an enigmatic woman!

Thanks, No_Stone_Unturned! I've been reading the threads about Audrey off and on for a while, just didn't have anything to contribute. When I saw the timeline, I was intrigued by the earlier marriages and wondered if they could be documented. At least I found some clues!

Thanks for that find on Audrey's first married name, csziggy !!

(and for pointing out the typo on Doveika .. glad we have your eyes on board now, you sharp-eyed wonder you !!! :rocker:)

Hazel gave me a couple of additions to the timeline also, so will post another revision in a few hours.

Those "Time Life Books" are frequently found in thrift shops and garage sales. Since PK's wife is a chef, she probably has a large collection of cookbooks.

Those "Time Life Books" are frequently found in thrift shops and garage sales. Since PK's wife is a chef, she probably has a large collection of cookbooks.

But the recipe supposedly came from Audrey, not AK

About old and dear recipe books - I have my mother's Fannie Farmer Cookbook. It has my mother's handwritten notes beside each of her favourite recipes.

There is NO WAY on God's good earth that I would give/lend that cookbook to anyone. It's far too important to me with my mom's personal notes about 'changing' recipes/baking.

I'm getting the impression that this recipe was:

- Audrey's OWN recipe

- perhaps Audrey gave it to someone else to make for her

- I HIGHLY doubt that Audrey would give away an old, cherished recipe book

- if Audrey did pass along the recipe, I'd say Audrey wrote it out by hand or on computer and gave it to someone else to make
