Sorry, could you point it out in the link provided? It is a long article. I did a search both both 'mental' and 'illness' and the search function came up empty. TIA!

Sorry, I am trying to access the Star article wherein it states that Honey's maid told police about the changes made to H's will 3 weeks before the murders, could you please provide that link. It was not at the link provided in the above-referenced post. I did find this article however, which states the Star is not disclosing who it was that disclosed this info to police:
“Honey and I were talking and she said meet me at Yonge and St. Clair Avenue. She said she was just coming from her lawyer’s office and she had just updated her will. She had done some amendments,” the confidant told the Star. “Honey said she wanted me to first go with her to Loblaws to get those frozen croissants from Ace Bakery that she liked, then we would go to her home.”
The Star has agreed not to identify the person — we will refer to the person as one of Honey’s service providers — due to the individual’s concern for safety. The person provided a regular service to Honey in her home for several years and the two had regular conversations during these times.
The service provider gave this information to the Toronto homicide squad shortly after the murders.
The conversation regarding Honey’s will that day came about because Honey had volunteered to pick up the service provider for the drive to the Sherman’s Old Colony Road home in North York, to save having to take public transit.

What mistake/judicial error did the trial judge make?

Misty his choice words appears very specific- he states they are in communication with”members” of the Sherman family. He could have said “the whole family” or “the family” but he didn’t. So one could infer that LE may not be in contact with ALL members of the family.
I do recall that in fact JS indicated that he intended to communicate with LE by sending them a copy of his answers to questions that KD raised with him. But I don’t think we know if he has ever spoken to or been interviewed by police.
Other than Jeffrey being diagnosed as bipolar, I'm not seeing a trend of mental illness in the family. Can you clarify?

Actually, it doesn't help. Jeffrey is the offspring of Barry's mother's brother, and his non-related wife. To me, this does not constitute a condition running in the family. If it was a direct close blood relative, such as BS's mother or father, or sister or brother, or perhaps even a grandparent that had a condition of some kind which was hereditary, that might become more of a concern for him. But the existing familial relationship is really stretching, to call something running in the family, imo.Two of Lou’s other sons had their own problems. Jeffrey was diagnosed as bipolar and was in and out of treatment. And Dana, like Kerry, got into drugs. One night in 1988, while eating at Bemelmans on Bloor, Dana bumped into a man named Stan Garden, who struck up a conversation. It happened that Garden had greatly admired Dana’s mother, Beverley (“beautiful, like Lana Turner”). At her deathbed, she asked Garden to keep an eye on the boys, but he’d lost touch. Now he could make amends. He got Barry’s number from someone he knew and phoned him. He told him about Dana’s situation and was invited to bring him to the Apotex office the following Saturday.
Jeffrey is Barry's cousin.
Hope this helps.
From the SCC documents:
“...The Sealed Materials contain, among other information, the full names, home addresses and other identifying and personal information of the Estate Trustees and the beneficiaries of the estates, including minor children (the “Affected Individuals”). The Sealed Materials provide a link between certain of the Affected Individuals and the Shermans which would not otherwise be apparent...”
Wondering who the individuals could be that are “not otherwise apparent”. Note that to be one of these people, you would HAVE to be either a Trustee (we know who these are); or a beneficiary of the estate (we evidently don’t know who all these are).
Some beneficiary possibilities IMO that may not be apparent: perhaps the surrogate mothers of One or more of the children; or perhAps Barry fathered another child? Speculation on my part.
Possibly, except everyone already knows their surnames (for the most part anyways, their parents have been in the press)More speculation - but possibly the grandchildren?
IIRC however, we have been told repeatedly that HS did not have a (signed(?)) Will, and that BS had left his entire estate to the four children?
