Sorry, I am trying to access the Star article wherein it states that Honey's maid told police about the changes made to H's will 3 weeks before the murders, could you please provide that link. It was not at the link provided in the above-referenced post. I did find this article however, which states the Star is not disclosing who it was that disclosed this info to police:

“Honey and I were talking and she said meet me at Yonge and St. Clair Avenue. She said she was just coming from her lawyer’s office and she had just updated her will. She had done some amendments,” the confidant told the Star. “Honey said she wanted me to first go with her to Loblaws to get those frozen croissants from Ace Bakery that she liked, then we would go to her home.”

The Star has agreed not to identify the person — we will refer to the person as one of Honey’s service providers — due to the individual’s concern for safety. The person provided a regular service to Honey in her home for several years and the two had regular conversations during these times.

The service provider gave this information to the Toronto homicide squad shortly after the murders.

The conversation regarding Honey’s will that day came about because Honey had volunteered to pick up the service provider for the drive to the Sherman’s Old Colony Road home in North York, to save having to take public transit.

What mistake/judicial error did the trial judge make?

The verdict? Jian Ghomeshi is not guilty.

Harsh application/tests for the testimony of victims. Victims are often embarrassed by sexual crimes against them. They are embarrassed to share sexual details in open court. And sometimes details are recalled at a later date.
IMO opinion more latitude should be given to these witnesses.

Sorry, could you point it out in the link provided? It is a long article. I did a search both both 'mental' and 'illness' and the search function came up empty. TIA!

Two of Lou’s other sons had their own problems. Jeffrey was diagnosed as bipolar and was in and out of treatment. And Dana, like Kerry, got into drugs. One night in 1988, while eating at Bemelmans on Bloor, Dana bumped into a man named Stan Garden, who struck up a conversation. It happened that Garden had greatly admired Dana’s mother, Beverley (“beautiful, like Lana Turner”). At her deathbed, she asked Garden to keep an eye on the boys, but he’d lost touch. Now he could make amends. He got Barry’s number from someone he knew and phoned him. He told him about Dana’s situation and was invited to bring him to the Apotex office the following Saturday.

Jeffrey is Barry's cousin.

Hope this helps.

Misty his choice words appears very specific- he states they are in communication with”members” of the Sherman family. He could have said “the whole family” or “the family” but he didn’t. So one could infer that LE may not be in contact with ALL members of the family.
I do recall that in fact JS indicated that he intended to communicate with LE by sending them a copy of his answers to questions that KD raised with him. But I don’t think we know if he has ever spoken to or been interviewed by police.

Correct.

Donovan has recently said that some members of the family are very forthcoming with him. Please note all the kids have different mothers and are not very close. Jon had an unnatural hatred of Honey which also extended to Honey's sister Mary. The schism between Mary and some of Barry's Kids is so great that Mary had her own memorial for her sister.

ADMIN NOTE:

I have not had time to clean up this thread as my computer and WS software have not been cooperating for the past few days.

The thread is being reopened for discussion with the following warnings:

Absolutely do NOT directly accuse a person of this crime or insinuate their involvement. No POI/suspect has been officially named by LE in this case.

If you state information as fact, you MUST provide a link to MSM to substantiate. If what you state is your opinion, make that very clear with use of acronyms (JMO, MOO, etc). If what you state is from KD's book, make that very clear.

Please post responsibly and respectfully. Members found to be violating the above or The Rules in general may experience a temporary or permanent loss of posting privileges. Post accordingly.

More documents will be posted there in short order. They normally post everything within 2 weeks of the trial.

From the SCC documents:
“...The Sealed Materials contain, among other information, the full names, home addresses and other identifying and personal information of the Estate Trustees and the beneficiaries of the estates, including minor children (the “Affected Individuals”). The Sealed Materials provide a link between certain of the Affected Individuals and the Shermans which would not otherwise be apparent...”

Wondering who the individuals could be that are “not otherwise apparent”. Note that to be one of these people, you would HAVE to be either a Trustee (we know who these are); or a beneficiary of the estate (we evidently don’t know who all these are).
Some beneficiary possibilities IMO that may not be apparent: perhaps the surrogate mothers of One or more of the children; or perhAps Barry fathered another child? Speculation on my part.

Overall I found KD's book to be a labor of love and very complimentary of all the Shermans (except 1 of the siblings). I was somewhat surprised that they SCC Sherman briefs would be harsh as both Donovan and the Star were both working to push the theory that both Sherman's were murdered.

From the SCC filing 15. In July 2018, Mr. Donovan (Chief Investigative Reporter at the Toronto Star) sought access to the court files relating to the Shermans’ estates. Mr. Donovan has no proper interest in the estates, but sought (and seeks) access to the Sealed Materials in connection with his investigation into the lives of the Shermans. Mr. Donovan has reported extensively on the Shermans and their murder in the period following their deaths, and in October 2019, he published a book titled “The Billionaire Murders” which examines in INVASIVE AND LURID detail the lives of the Shermans.18

Additionally, Sherman's Lawyers are acting like Trump and trying to ban witnesses and fresh evidence. IMO Judges & Courts are remiss to prevent evidence from being entered that is credible, relates to the issue, and is entered into record following the rules.

90. As a separate matter, Mr. Donovan now attempts to adduce as fresh evidence an excerpt of a transcript from his own cross-examination of a detective from the Toronto Police Service. This cross-examination took place in a different proceeding between different parties. Mr. Donovan no doubt intends to use this transcript to suggest that there is no credible risk to the safety of the Affected Individuals. This position has no merit. As detailed in the Appellants’ Response to the Motion to Adduce Fresh Evidence, this transcript is inadmissible and irrelevant, and would not have affected the Application Judge’s findings regarding the serious risk to the physical safety of the Affected Individuals.

Actually, it doesn't help. Jeffrey is the offspring of Barry's mother's brother, and his non-related wife. To me, this does not constitute a condition running in the family. If it was a direct close blood relative, such as BS's mother or father, or sister or brother, or perhaps even a grandparent that had a condition of some kind which was hereditary, that might become more of a concern for him. But the existing familial relationship is really stretching, to call something running in the family, imo.

Toronto halts construction of The One condo-hotel in Yorkville over building permit issue
''Five years after the old Stollery’s menswear store was demolished at Yonge and Bloor streets and the iconic corner was dug out to build an 85-storey condo-hotel tower, work has been stopped on the site due to a permitting issue with the city.''

Oct 2017
Canada’s tallest condo tower, 1 Bloor West, set to rise in Toronto
''Surviving what he has called a smear campaign, developer Sam Mizrahi has secured hundreds of millions of dollars in financing to build Canada's tallest condo tower at Toronto's coveted intersection of Yonge and Bloor Streets''.

''Plus, Mr. Mizrahi, who has partnered with the family firm behind Coco Paving from the beginning, has another set of new lenders: A second mortgage, worth $61.5-million with a 13-per-cent annual interest rate, from a newly registered company called One Bloor Lender GP Inc. The company is a partnership between Toronto's established Westdale Construction Co. Ltd., which was an investor in the One Bloor East tower across the road, and a company controlled by Toronto billionaire Barry Sherman, founder of generic-drug giant Apotex Inc.''

The Toronto developer, the Iranian fugitive and the bitter condo feud
''Five years ago, Sam Mizrahi, one of Toronto’s most ambitious real estate developers, found himself in a basement in the city’s Bridle Path neighbourhood. It was there, he says, he began to fear for his safety.''
''With Iran demanding Mr. Khavari’s immediate return, Mr. Mizrahi feared being caught in the crossfire of a potentially violent international dispute as they debated the future of their business partnership inside the former banker’s Toronto home.

The agreement worked out in that basement in the hours that followed the frantic flight to Canada has become the subject of a multimillion-dollar lawsuit before the Ontario Superior Court, and led to a feud between Mr. Mizrahi and the Khavari family of near-Shakespearian proportion, involving alleged death threats, international intrigue and some of the city’s hottest real estate.''

Passage about BS and his association with S Mizrahi in KD's book..

More speculation - but possibly the grandchildren?
