We have already been told in the initial news reports that a security cameras was disconnected. Curious what are we are looking to establish here on the camera in the pool room?
There is also a report saying there were no security cameras. I can't remember who linked it.

Yet one of Barry’s friends alluded to them having cams. D’Angelo...I posted the link, earlier. Neighbors, in the area, I am confident would have outside security cams.

At the very least, they were looking at another two years of dealing with architects and contractors, and lots of litigation [because that's how Barry does everything]. They didn't need a bigger house, they were at an age where they needed to downsize. If she was thinking bigger, and he was thinking downsize, they were in for a long battle with nowhere to live. No one buys a house with a two year possession date.

In fact, most people have a three month possession date, so where was Barry supposed to live while doing business in Toronto after his house sold, and while his new house was being built?
I'm sure they had a plan (with their age and life experience) for the timing even if we don't know the details. They wouldn't make themselves homeless.

Jewish people often participate in the secular aspects of Christmas...decorations, gifts, etc. It would depend on how observant they are. The son wore a yarmulke FWIW. I actually worked for a Jewish woman once who collected folk art nativity scenes. She was what I call a secular Jew, rather than a religious Jew.
Secular or not, Jewish folks do not celebrate Christmas. They celebrate Hanukkah.

In relation to having a home, three things were happening in the two weeks prior to their deaths: listing of current house, demolition of house on new property, meeting with architect immediately prior to deaths. If one wanted extravagance and the other wanted modesty, they were facing many long battles. What if the wife and architect were in agreement, and the husband was expected to go along with them? What if the cost had ballooned to ten million dollars? What if the architect demanded an pre-agreement that contracted work would not be litigated?

Perhaps the architect & Honey gave Barry an ultimatum to compromise?Or it could have been a hundred other 'perceived' slights. Barry was a bully and he punished those who displeased him.He would cut off his nose to spite his face.

The CS looks like the handiwork of someone Machiavelli like Barry.I believe if in a rage he could think & quickly execute a CS so grotesque it would take a genus to unwind its complexity.

What is the motive? We would need to find a madman to explain it to us.

Barry seemed to keep himself pretty active with his philanthropic work. Yes, the type As who retire to a life of nothing tend not to fare well, but that doesn't sound like an issue here.

I think this was enabled by the fact they had put their house up for sale. Floor plans available, entry codes recorded or spare keys held.

Actually dear friends of mine who are wealthy bought a house in their hot neighborhood, started renovations on it a little less than a year later and moved in about 18 months after they bought it.

I kind of wonder why they put the current house on the market when they did. The new house was going to take a while to build.

They probably went to Florida for most of the next 6 months. Didn't they have a condo down there??

Also following up on two other points:
- those articles are about isolated male suicide. But that isn't the case here: if you believe Barry committed suicide than he must have murdered Honey as well.
- statistics are a way to analyze data about large groups. Using those statistics to come to decisions about an individual case is a bad use. I'll give an example: Most murders of young children are committed by the parents. But applying this to Adam Walsh, or Jacob Wetterling, or any number of other prominent cases, would be preposterous.

So they walk into the house wearing their winter clothing. Barry has been seething on his way home for some reason.

They keep on their winter outerwear. Barry takes the belt off of his pants and strangles Honey.

Barry takes a belt from?? and strangles Honey before she can take off her winter stuff.

He, at age 75 with a bad back hauls her down to the pool area to pretend it was a suicide. She who is 180 punds and he at age 75 with a bad back.

They do have an excercise room so perhaps he worked out a lot.

I meant to put quotations around natural mother. I don’t know if Honey was the bio mother of the other three or not. But, in my opinion, none of the siblings look similar.

Which is often the case with siblings. I assume, from what BS was quoted as saying about his genetic material, that he was the bio. parent of all 4 children. But I thought there was also a resemblance between the second daughter (Alexandra) and her mother (whom I had the good fortune to meet a few times.) In any event, all the children appeared to be close and supportive to each other at the service.

I am thinking this was an interrupted burglary. Perps entered through the side door, which Barry and Honey were in the habit of leaving unlocked. thus no forced entry. Like many interrupted burglaries, this escalated out of control. Perps may well have wanted any safe codes and safe locations. Choice of place and type of murder ? Perps were young, and utterly depraved. This is my opinion right now.

If HS was strangled elsewhere (and from what has been reported that could mean just a few feet from where she was found), maybe BS naively thought that by hanging her after she was strangled, and exactly as he intended to hang himself, it would appear to be a double suicide.

That seemed to be LE's operating theory from day 1.

A cleared lot in Forest Hill, where the new home of Barry and Honey Sherman was to be located
.
Work was stalled on the construction of another home for which they had just obtained demolition and building permits last month, public records show.
In addition, the Shermans were estimated to be worth nearly $4 billion and well known across Canada for their generous donations. In some years, they’d given millions to hospitals, old-age homes and schools. But they had only given $66,000 in 2016, according to filings from Canada’s tax authority. The year before, their foundation gave out no money
The Sherman Family Foundation ended last year with just under $1 million in its coffers, records show.
.
Family members said that the couple had planned to spend the Christmas holidays at their Miami condo. The Shermans paid $1.9 million for the 3,300 square foot high-rise apartment in a gated, ocean-front community in 2011, using a Toronto-based family trust for the purchase, public records show.

Did you hear the friend speaking at the memorial about the Sherman's recent visit? She explained that BS stood there holding his luggage under one arm, HS's luggage under the other arm while holding 12 stacked boxes of doughnuts in his hands. She said she couldn't even see his face and that he stood there that way all the time she and HS discussed where the Sherman's would be staying. I have a bad back too but some days are better than others and sometimes I'm able to do a lot more than most who know me think I can do.

Secular or not, Jewish folks do not celebrate Christmas. They celebrate Hanukkah.

Of course they celebrate Hanukkah. But many Jews and other non-Christians and atheists participate in secular Christmas customs. Not all, but plenty. That’s why I used the word “participate” rather than “celebrate.” :)

Although if that were the case would the police say there was no sign of anyone else in the home?

Wait what am I thinking, of course they would!
