Jonathan Bettez est considéré depuis plusieurs années comme un des principaux suspects de l'enlèvement et du meurtre de Cédrika Provencher le 31 juillet 2007.
In November 2011, journalist Jean-François Guérin had visited Jonathan Bettez Mauricie to question about the disappearance of the young Cédrika Provencher occurred four years earlier. Bettez was then considered a person of interest in this case because he owned a red Acura in the summer of 2007, the vehicle was at the investigation center.
Among those in the courtroom during Bettez's brief court appearance was the family of Cédrika Provencher, the 9-year-old girl whose disappearance in 2007 shocked the province. Upon his arrival in court, he was heckled by a handful of demonstrators.
TVA reminding us now that they tried to interview Bettez in November 2011 but he declined, saying it was an "old, overused story" to him:

Does anyone know why they are now able to say his name on the news, and label him as the principal suspect in the case of Cédrika? For years, we've been hearing that there was a suspect, but they couldn't mention his name. I know he is being charged with possession and distribution of child *advertiser censored*, but they don't have any real evidence linking him to Cédrika, do they? Is the fact that he is being charged with something else enough to point the finger at him in another case? In any case, I am happy we can now see his face. People know what type of things he is capable of, and he will be watched. I hope they find more evidence soon.
I am sorry if my question was asked on another thread, I'm kind of new to this (actually, 1st post!)...
